Re: Britt Assombalonga
Let's get this done before we play them in pre season. Then move on to signing Conor McGregor.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
if Tendayi is swapped we need cover for Lowton. I cant see another natural RB in the squad or are we going 3-5-2?
Re: Britt Assombalonga
If we are going 3-5-2 we need 2 new centre halves and quickly!

Re: Britt Assombalonga
It can surely only be wages that would make Watford favourites to sign him as I can't see any other obvious reason for them to be preferred. I think the Dyche link will be an important one for us and a bid of £9m or £10m plus add ons and Darikwa will seal it for us by middle of next week.

This may also be a hint that Craig Dawson is on his way?
We wouldn't require Darikwa to take a place on the bench with Dawson in the squad.

Any football would be good for him must be getting splinters with all the bench-warming he's been doing, goes to show that lower league gambles don't always pay off.IanMcL wrote:It would be good for Darikwa. He needs Champ football.

I'd be more surprised if Brit didn't sign.
He looks very much on his way by all accounts.
He will leave forest, it's just a case of who too, and for how much.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Once we get into these prolonged negotiations it doesn't seem to end well.
So I'm not holding my breath on this, or Dawson for that matter.
Lansbury, Stephens and Dawson previously set the tone.

One thing that's not getting much of a mention on here is that Britt played under Dyche at Watford. This could work in our favour...
Re: Britt Assombalonga
Or not, if Mr Dyche purposely doesn't play to players strengths and tries to drain all flair and creativity from their game......jdrobbo wrote:One thing that's not getting much of a mention on here is that Britt played under Dyche at Watford. This could work in our favour...

We don't currently have enough flair for him to drain, so perhaps a bit unfair.MACCA wrote:Or not, if Mr Dyche purposely doesn't play to players strengths and tries to drain all flair and creativity from their game......

I think in the past Top Claret may have had a point, but I think the game might have changed this summer. I suspect by the end of August it will be apparent the board are now more than serious about keeping us at the top table / trough.

O'Assombalonga that is the correct spelling and he can trace his Irish heritage back to his paternal great grandmother who lived in Ghana in the 1800's, think I will stick this on Wiki

I can imagine Watford will eye him to replace the possibly departing Troy Deeney like we want him to replace Gray.
Get him signed asap if we can.

No chance we'll get him if Watford want him.
Came through their youth system, he's from north London, and they pay better.

If that is true, that is so West Ham and so why they will always fall apart in their aim to be the fourth best club in London.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
We need to up our game if we want to sign this lad. If we can get him and Cork I can really see the team taking shape as a 4-5-1.
Heaton
Lowton Tarky Mee Ward/Taylor
Cork Westwood
Walters Hendrick Brady
Assombalonga
Not sure whether we could shoe horn Defour in or not, but Cork and Westwood would offer great cover in front of the back 4. Both mobile enough to get around, put tackles in and pick a pass.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
A midfield of Westwood and Cork would be great fun. We can play guess the minute we see a forward pass, reckon 30+ is a good guess.
