Re: Assombalonga - Watford Interested
Could just be paper/agent/club gossip trying to get a bidding war going. On the other hand it would raise eyebrows if no other clubs wanted a target we were keen on (if indeed we are)

Isn't KRBFC's current man crush Silva manager at Watford?
If he's after Assombalonga we'd need to move fast if we want him because he won't mess about.

Middlesbrough. Pushing hard for Assombalonga deal now. Figures frankly crazy. Beating off Watford and Burnley at this stage.

Re: Assombalonga - Watford Interested
I went on the Nott Post earlier today, just to see if there was anything on us and Assombalonga.
They were on about the Deloitte report into 2015-16 finances.
The usual suspects Boro, Brighton, Bastards, Fulham, also Forrest were massively over budget. Their wage bill was 173% of income
The new guy might, or might not have paid off their debts, but it could be they can't afford to run the risk of not selling him. I wouldn't want to get in a bidding war with anyone, not even Watford. Pay what the club think he's worth, and nothing more.
What the club think he is worth is open to debate.

Re: Assombalonga - Watford Interested
There's what he's worth, and what he's worth to us.
He might only be worth £12m, but if Gray goes and we're left with a strikeforce of Vokes, Barnes and Walters, we're desperate for pace. It would be worth us going above what he's 'worth' for someone we've down our homework on and identified as a priority target, because the alternative is the slowest frontline in professional football.

We should just offer them 12 million and either chris long or daniel aygei for the season . Take it or leave it

I'd much rather see Agyei on the bench, the problem is we are getting to a place where it is going to be hard to find a place for him on ours.
If we send him out on loan, we have to do all we can to make sure it's in the championship. He needs to play at high a level as he can, and League 1 won't add much to his game.

Re: Assombalonga - Watford Interested
Chances are he wont play much and wont progress if he his just playing the odd couple of minutes he needs to be playing first team football . I might be wrong but i cant see that happening with us or chris long for that matterColburn_Claret wrote:I'd much rather see Agyei on the bench, the problem is we are getting to a place where it is going to be hard to find a place for him on ours.

Re: Assombalonga - Watford Interested
I think if we cant land Assombalonga then I think we'll hold onto Gray and try and get him to sign his new contract. If Gray doesn't sign a new contract again I feel we'd rather keep him and let him run it down and he goes on a free next summer which isn't ideal. If we get Assombalonga, I think Gray will be going this summer.
Long time to go yet in the window too...

Nixon reported on twitter 3 hours ago that Boro were 'pushing hard' trying to get this done and 'quite frankly the figures are ridiculous'.
Make of that what you will.

Re: Assombalonga - Watford Interested
£12m plus Darikwa would be enough. I wouldn't be against throwing Chris Long in as part of the package as well. He's unlikely to trouble our first team now.Reecey1987 wrote:We should just offer them 12 million and either chris long or daniel aygei for the season . Take it or leave it

Forest are after an england under 19 right back from luton for 1 million pounds . Thats why i sudjested those 2 players. It looks to me like there after getting that lad in then they can rinse who ever buys britt because they will no longer need a right backjlup1980 wrote:£12m plus Darikwa would be enough. Wasn't Long at Brentford when Warburton was there? Seems sensible. Can't see us letting Darikwa go until we're certain of a replacement/upgrade.

Long would be a good signing for them he just needs to be playing championship football . I dont think he will get in our team so maybe it could be a good optionRick_Muller wrote:hopefully only a few hours to decide, but maybe a couple of days

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Long hasn't shown much to suggest that he will be a useful Championship player. It's easy to say let's throw this player or that player into the deal because they're not good enough for us, but who's to say the other team are remotely interested in them.

Re: Britt Assombalonga
Boro are odd.
Buy Rhodes who's a far more prolific goal scorer in the championship but they sold him to Sheff Wed, probably under the assumption they wouldn't need him again.
Now looking to spend more on someone else...

Lets hope we have someone else lined up if gray is to leave . Worrying thing we havnt really been linked with any strikers apart from britt that will be any good . Maybe long but his goal scoring record isnt too brilliant

Re: Britt Assombalonga
we paid (eventually) £9m for Andre two seasons ago
I believe £15m for Assombalonga would be about the going rate (considering his goals/game ratio)
...also could get the same for Andre should he be sold!

If 14 goals in a Championship season makes someone a £15 million striker then we really need to start looking properly at Europe.
