Britt Assombalonga

Post by jdrobbo » Sat Apr 22, 2017 8:48 pm

Before his injury he looked a top player. Extremely strong and a natural finisher. Really finding his scoring boots again. Only 24.

Would you welcome him as a signing?

Dyche wanted Deeney and I can see exactly why. I think Assombalonga would be a very good fit.

Didn't Dyche give him his league debut at Watford?

As you say he looked really good before his long lay-off, and if he's rediscovering that form I'd certainly take him.

I'm not convinced. Injury prone and inconsistent. Great if we signed him as a Championship club, far less so if we remain in the Prem. Ditto Rhodes and Wells.

If and it's perhaps a big if, he can keep fit, he would be a quality signing. More about him than our Andre!!

23 goals in 41 games for Peterborough

26 goals in 44 games for Nottingham Forest, but 18 of those haven't been starts!

We'd have to deal with poxy Notts Forrest and their idiotic chairman at present. If their chairman goes I could imagine he's the sort of player who may interest Dyche but while that clown is in charge there relations between our professionally run club and their two-bit outfit are not good.

It would take something for a player to be transferred between Burnley and Forrest these days.

I was thinking the same thing, if Gray goes then he is as close as you could get to a like for like replacement.

Chance would be a fine thing. We then wouldn't have to listen to his pathetic, condescending and disrespectful tones to the opposition.

An interesting lad is Britt. I was at Forest today.First of all he brings his baby daughter on the pitch for photos with his missus roughly two minutes before K O ! ! ! Sean wud have gone ballistic. Can't believe Mark Warburton gave him permission to do that ! My very good friend The Tree maintains that some of his pace has gone since the ACL surgery and the explosive 'snap' needed to take you past defenders has not yet returned either. He still has that incredibly strong upper body though and for sure ,he is a character, and Sean likes characters.

We noticed his somewhat strange walking and running style some time ago.His feet point outwards in a kind of Duck style. To be fair to him perhaps what he needs is a good pre - season.Even this season he has been interrupted by injury but has still scored 15 goals in 32 appearances. And 12 of those were only as a sub coming on for impact.he's not scored when this has happened. But overall a goal every 130 minutes. Not too shabby that.

He's also a big influence in the dressing apparently. You can't help but like him and nothing much seems to bother him.Sean Dyche wud not need to tell him not to " overthink', because he simply does'nt. So could he play Prem ? For me,at present i would have to say probably not.And many Forest fans would agree. He is though, a determined lad.Strong mentally from what we have witnessed. So with an SD type pre-season behind him who knows what he might achieve ?T

I suspect neither of them were errors, Ian.

Lots of teams have long names. The different between Man United and Notts Forest is that United fans don't get precious when their club name is abbreviated.

Unconvinced by this one. Assombalonga has talent and he's pretty much like for like with Gray, but his injury record isnt good and apart from anything else, I'm not sure we need/want a like for like replacement for Gray - we need someone capable of playing wide or off Vokes, rather someone who plays on the last man.

Perhaps if we're looking for a couple of strikers, Assombalonga might be one part of the answer - he could be handy off the bench - but i'd be concerned if we were viewing him as the solution to replacing Gray.

I'd like to throw the name Kenneth Zohore into the ring. Danish under 21 international (though he's biw 23), 6 ft 3, fast, raw, good feet and touted as the best striker in the championship by some quarters of the welsh press last season (as well as Neil Warnock ;! He did looked very good though and scored some crackers for Cardiff, 12 goals in 29 starts.

he's absolutely useless, never trust a Welshmens view. Infact hes so bad he cant get in the starting 11 consistently. The last time we played Cardiff he came off the bench.

Depends how you pronounce Noel-Williams.

Anyway, Albert Cheeseborough was still a better name, in spite of lack of syllables.

Dimi Pap never give a fair chance by the then manager.Later he went back home and scored goals for fun in the Greek league. He also won a fair number of caps.
Our record with European players is poor .We've had a few non starters and a few never made its.Perhaps our best hope is cherry picking in the football league
