Man Utd had never won a PL game at Turf Moor, they played Anderlecht on Thursday.....Vegas Claret wrote:They've won on 2 of their last 3 visits to Man Utd, Utd play City away on Thursday.....

For you "nervous nellies" out there. Take out some insurance in case the worst does happen.
Currently 22/1 on Betfair
Whilst it is not a given that we will stay up, it is highly unlikely that we'll go down.
For me, we are staying up, but just watch the meltdown on here come Saturday evening if it goes tits-up at Palace

They'll have to do far better than in their recent away games then. Six games, six defeats and in their last two - Watford & West Ham, barely any attempts on goal.Vegas Claret wrote:They've won on 2 of their last 3 visits to Man Utd, Utd play City away on Thursday.....
As I said, logic goes completely out of the window at this time of the season.
Swansea scraped home against a poor Stoke side and suddenly they are capable of going on a winning run, despite being held at home to Boro, an embarrassing result if ever there was one!

I watched Swansea the other week and they looked lacklustre. Like they had nothing much to give. But - this is football we're talking about. Anything can happen.

Re: Those who were confident when we were 10 points in front
After this next round of fixtures it is quite likely we will be 5 points of Swansea with 3 games to go.
Then we play West Brom at home at 3pm following us Swansea are live at home to Everton at 5.30pm. The staying up party will start just after 7pm that night.

But what if Swansea and Hull win all their remaining games and Tom Heaton gets a ban for gambling and we lose all of our games? Long way to go yet and we don't look like we'll score another goal this season never mind get a win.

This is what the table looked like when we were ten points clear, after the Chelsea game:
We've only dropped three points in that time despite the tough run of fixtures we've had:

Hi Spijed, don't you mean we've only dropped three places?Spijed wrote:This is what the table looked like when we were ten points clear, after the Chelsea game:

Re: Those who were confident when we were 10 points in front
Dropping from 12th to 13th was one place drop; then dropping from 13th to 14th was a second place drop.
A runner is leading a race (1st). He or she drops two places - what place are they now running in?

If you drop from 12th to 13th that would be one place...and so onImploding Turtle wrote:12th, 13th, 14th. that's three places! Check and mate!

Hi Spijed, yes, 12th to 14th is two places.Spijed wrote:Isn't 12th to 14th two places?
In your post you'd wrote "we've only dropped three points in that time."
Yes, I could have said, we'd dropped 21 points (gained 9 in 10 games), not 3. And, table shows we were 12th and we are now 14th.
But now IT will be telling me that I don't know how to count while he does.
Re: Those who were confident when we were 10 points in front
Pretty sure Spijed meant our lead over the bottom three has dropped by three points.

Re: Those who were confident when we were 10 points in front
I've whizzed it in the bin now and I ain't digging it out again, but I'm fairly sure there was a snippet in the Lancashire Telegraph (a quote from Dyche I think), but we appear to have garnered more points in the second half of the season than we got in the first half.
Is that correct, or have I imagined it?

He said we'd gained 17 points in the first 17 games, then 19 in the next 17.

So far the second half of the season has seen six home games and ten away with sixteen points.

Re: Those who were confident when we were 10 points in front
Interesting posts from Goody. And the bottom five remain the bottom five. And although our return from the games since the 19 games point is third bottom (of this group) it's 16 and only a point behind a number of others (Bournemouth, Soton, West Ham) and 2 or 3 behind Watford and Stoke. The team taking the most points in that period is Palace who only score 6 more than us.Swansea's dramatic upturn in form has only seen them gain 4 points on us.
if we continue with the same returns as 2nd half of the season form for all the teams above in the final games then despite Swansea picking up considerably they still finish 18th and we finish 14th.
But consider that in the last 16 games we have played way more away games than others too - 10 away and 6 at home - we've done well.
Safe
