Another 1 of Dyches untouchables. Been poor for over a month now. Needs dropping.

Was more concerned with Tark's performance - many on the board idolise him as our saviour when Keane leaves, looked completely out of his depth today.

Don't play someone for a season expect him to go backwards.

Dodgy stream I may have had but is this a wind-up? He seemed to keep the ball moving forward at every opportunity and looked comfortable. When my stream froze he must have had some howlers!

Worst player on the pitch today. Couldn't pass or tackle and his game management was very poor.

or needs some help in the middle of the park? Don`t know how Barton can be singled out...Hendrick was pretty lightweight, in my opinion.

Tarks did little wrong really; a few dodgy controls at the end but nothing earth-shattering.
JB not good enough overall and apart from the free-kick on his return I don't recall too many significant ways he's contributed positively on the pitch; he's been largely anonymous and worryingly a few sloppy mistakes have crept in the last few games which have cost us a goal. In his defence, he's a yes man to Sean and carries out instructions well so he's doing his job therefore we must also question the manager's tactics recently.

Very poor distribution. Looks out of place in a 4-4-2. Maybe he would suit a return to a 4-5-1 formation?

Need a change of tactics to fit Joey in in my opinion. Would be fine in a defensive role with 3 in the middle. The other 2 midfielders could be more dynamic then.

Have to agree.

Thought Barton was great for us last season and very good for a while when he came back, but has been very poor in recent games including today.

Hendrick not much better, always looking for the back or simple pass, need better to seriously compete at this level.

I've watched a totally different game to the rest of you, I bought Barton was the only one with any intent to try things, moved the ball quickly and intelligently and apart from the first goal, where he'll look back and wonder why he didn't make the foul, I thought he snapped into tackles with purpose. Hendrick on the other hand was ponderous on the very few occasions he got the ball, was miles off the pace in the middle and was a passenger for most of the game. I think his first touch in the 2nd half was about 20 minutes in.

Considering he's hardly had any game time this season, I thought that Dyche would be pretty happy with the way he slotted in, and blunted most of what came down his channel. Not as fluid as he would like to be going forward, but it will surely take time for him to settle into a back four who have been unchanged virtually all season. I thought he was a plus overall.

Hendrick looks a good player when gets the ball in the final third but Dyche's tactics shackle him to just running round chasing shadows in a defensive midfield role.

Westwood and Defour sitting deep with Hendrick in front supporting a lone striker with JBG and Brady given more license to attack is in my opinion the way we need to go.

Just goes to show how much we miss Dean Marney.

I think the main problem is that at the moment we don't have two centre mids that compliment each other. Hendrick is inconsistent but looks like a gut busting midfielder with a bit of skill, Barton is probably slightly more defensive and equally inconsistent with his passing.

A combination of Westwood, Hendrick, Barton, Defour. But I struggle to put two together as flat centre mids. It's an area we need to address.

Barton as poor as the rest of the midfield today. Defour should have come on or started. He can see a pass not a f in launch that fits into the F in framework.

Massive lolz. 1 good performance in the last month and all is well. He's had an absolute mare today, and it isn't the first 1. Apart from the winner against Southampton, I'm struggling to think of a worthwhile contribution.

Not even close pal. He's keanes replacement without doubt. Came in today against a really good Utd team and did ok. What exactly were you expecting from a player with hardly any first team experience against Manchester United???

Tarks distribution was poor today, looked a little unsettled. A run of games would probably change that. I don't buy into the whole he's as good as Keane vibe though.

Wasn't great today, but I was more disappointed he didn't take the chance to foul Martial before their first goal when it looked obvious to do so. Player with his experience really should be taking one for the team there.

Think had we got a result today, Joey would have been the hero. THought he did well against a top team. Maybe a 5 in midfield would have been more effective today

Been poor since the Spurs game. Lost count of the number of poor passes he's played in that time, many of which have led to goals or good opportunities.

I really hope Ashley Westwood is to be given the last few games now.

You seriously want Barton to take one for the team and get booked after 21 minutes.

Yes. They scored when we could have quite easily taken a yellow and moved on. I very much doubt Dyche would have complained at it either.

I wasn't at Everton, so can't comment on his overall performance, but I did see him give the ball away for Everton's second goal, and then get taken out of the game too easily later in the build up.

I did watch him today, and he was certainly culpable for the opening goal, could have given away a penalty just after, and generally I thought he competed well, but lacked a little bit of quality in his passing and was just slightly of the pace in a few key moments. He's become very slow and staid in his passing recently - I've noticed it from the Sunderland away game if not before - and he's not even trying to move the ball with real zip. When we're out of possession, there seem to be 3 or 4 occasions in every game when he does what he did for the first goal today - rushes forwards, overcommits himself, and arrives half a second too late to be of any use, so ends up being taken completely out of the game. I wonder whether he's lost a fraction of pace compared to the last time he was in the league, and whether that is now the difference between him winning the ball or not.

Either way, in both departments, he's been below par in the majority of our recent matches.

Some of the stuff on here is baffling. Barton has been generally good since coming back with his performance vs Chelsea at home a particular highlight. He has had some more indifferent performances of late, but he was good last week at Goodison.

Regardless of how good or bad Barton has been, we've been generally poor with him in the side.
As I've said, it could be coincidence, and could equally be more to do with losing Marney.
The fact is Barton left us. Never go back IMO.

Agree completely, as said on the match thread.

SD has now stated that his 'honesty' prevented him from fouling Martial.

Nice of the gaffer to defend the player in public, but surely he must have given him a rollocking in private: and experienced, clever and hard player like Barton must have realized the danger immediately and should have taken the guy out.

Just my opinion "pal" - afterall this is a messageboard. I thought he was beaten too easiliy today, looked comfortable on the ball but struggled against the pace of Rashford on two occasions and looked out of his depth for me. I agree he's had very little game time and will improve with more, but today he didn't look ready to be a central striker in a consistant starting 11 for me.

In my opinion, Mee was the best player on the pitch for us today and we missed him in the second half.

Be better used sat in front of the defence in a midfield 5.

Joey has been brilliant for us, MOSTLY, but when it all unravels imo is against the better (quality) opposition and today was a great example. Pogba can't have had many easier days. He's got years, height, physique and tbh skill on his side and Barton was nowhere in THAT company (sadly)

Probably, but who do we play up front on their own?

None of our forwards are good enough to do that at this level.

He's done the best possible job we could possibly expect when re-signing him given where he is in his career and the league we are in. Particularly given Marney getting injured. It might have been his last game for us and we will probably stay up. He deserves respect.
