Heaton 5. Kicking woeful. Couldnt see second goal looked a bit dodgy though.
Lowton 5. Crossing as bad as its been.
Ward 6. Worse performance ive seen from him.
Keane 5. See above.
Mee 7. Best of a bad bunch.
Boyd 4. Anonymous. One shot thats it.
Brady 5. Lost ball too easy and didnt show enough.
Barton 4. See Ward.
Hendrick. 7 only one who tried anything or carried the ball.
Gray. 7. Tried. Isolated though. Some good touches.
Barnes 4. Abysmal.

Feeble performance today. No creativity and a worrying lack of effort. How on earth Defour didn't get on the pitch today is beyond me given how poor our distribution was.

Heaton 5
Lowton 6
Keane 6
Mee 6
Ward 6
Boyd 4
Barton 4
Hendrick 4
Brady 4

Heaton 5 need to look at both goals again. Very slow and inaccurate distribution.
Lowton 6 ok, but going forward was poor
Keane 7 rarely troubled
Mee 6
Ward 7 my MOM, but it wasn't hard today
Boyd 4 can't be here next season if we have any aspirations to improve the team.
Barton 4 worst game for Burnley, but it has been coming. I didn't see 1 positive from his performance .
Hendrick 6 tried to drive forward and nearly repeated the Stoke goal. The only player to try and drive forward and commit their defence.
Brady 6 tried but nothing came off. Great block for what looked a certain goal
Barnes 4 A waste off a shirt today. Fellani did a job on him, great managerial decision by Jose.
Gray 6 Tried, held the ball up well, ran the channels. I'm his biggest critic, but today I felt sorry for him, he really was on his own.

Tarkowski 6 - Not a bad 45, passed it out well.

Heaton 5
Lowton 5
Keane 5
Mee 6
Ward 6
Boyd 4
Hendrick 5
Barton 4 glad he came back but will not last another season at Pl level if we remain there.
Brady 5 looked better in parts but sloppy costly miistake. Free kicks not great either.
Barnes 5 disappointing
Gray 4 limited game even though we don't play to his strenghths

Tarkowski 5 not sure he's the new Keane

It was game over at half time predictably. We offer no surprise or goal threat at all. The second half was boring and was played out as expected. How on earth we can't accommodate Defour.

Crying out for 4-5-1 today - we were overrun by their pace and power. Gray was excellent today but just too isolated. Hardest 2 games of our last 6 out of the way now.

We simply have to get Defour on the pitch somehow. We need his little touch of quality to create something. For me he should be in for Barnes who has been found out in the past month. JBG should be in for Boyd as well. Lets play a 4231 and break with positivity and pace please!!

Heaton 5 - poor kicking
Lowton 6 - Wasted some crosses.
Keane 6 - Looked out of his depth against their second string attack.
Mee 6 - as per Keane until the injury.
Ward 7 - Looked a threat going forward and kept Lingard quiet.
Boyd - I'm not going to even mark him as to do that would acknowledge some sort of performance, whether positive or negative.
Barton 5 - Experienced enough to know when to bring their man down. That accompanied with loose passing gave him a 5.
Hendrick 6 - looked to get forward but crowded out by their £200 million midfield.
Brady 7 - Looked our only source of threat. Some things cane off, some didn't.
Barnes 5 - Probably still in Fellainis pocket. Lack of alternatives though.
Gray 7 MoM - Tried his hardest today up front. Touch improved as the game went on until he was fighting the fight on his own.

Tarkowski 5 - poor distribution and caught in possession. ABC will not have seen this performance, no doubt.
JBG 6 - Small cameo but looked a threat.
Agyei 5 - As someone said close to me, he looked like a puppy chasing the ball. Very raw. Hopefully all this game time helps.

Heaton 5 poor distribution and suspect on 2nd goal
Lowton 6 ok but poor going forward
Mee 6 fine
Keane 6 see Mee
Ward 7 one of the few to emerge with any credit
Boyd 4 very poor
Hendrick 7 our only real threat on the day
Barton 4 his worst game for us?
Barnes 4 but respect to JM for figuring out how to deal with him
Gray 6 create some threat
Brady 5 like all games so far, disappointing

Tarks 4. Sloppy passing and marking

You mad?

Change from our tried and tested 442?
Try and keep the oppositon guessing?
Mix things up if it looks like it isn't working?
Try and be pro active?
Try and find a tactic/formation to get our best players in the team?

Is any of that allowed? We are little old Burnley, we need to be greatful we are allowed to play in this league!

Heaton - 7 - Generally OK, but apart from beating away one fairly routine 30 yarder in the second half, not called into that much action.

Lowton - 7 - Neat and tidy and good enough defensively.

Ward - 7 - As Lowton.

Keane - 8 - Challenged a few times by Martial, but generally pretty good solid.

Mee - 8 - Dependable enough in the first half.

Barton - 5 - Overcommitted himself to allow Martial to turn for the first goal, inexplicably failed to give away the foul and accept the yellow card thereafter, fortunate not to concede a penalty for a a silly challenge on Rooney and generally bullied a little in midfield. In possession, he was OK, but a little safe and too many of his passes were slightly behind teammates or under weighted, slowing down our build up. We need more purpose from him than this.

Hendrick - 7 - Guilty of being a little tentative in his passing at times, but should be credited for his forward intent and he certainly looked the more likely to create something from the middle of the park. Showed impressive recovery speed at the other end on occasions, too.

Brady - 7 - Apart from a complete brain freeze to present United with the opportunity for the second goal, pretty good, and showed real purpose in attack on the unfortunately rare occasions we got him into the game.

Boyd - 5 - OK without the ball, but in possession his lack of composure in our build up play is becoming chronic.

Barnes - 5 - Completely neutralised by Fellaini.

Gray - 7 - Battled away in a lone war up front, but another who was occasionally tentative in his build up play when a first time cross or shot might have yielded more results.

Tarkowski - 5 - Slightly concerningly ponderous, and his passing was also sloppy on occasion. Not a 45 minutes to advance the case of the many advocates of us ripping up the framework to accommodate him.

Gudmundsson - 5 - The logic of the change was OK, and he'll be better for getting the game time in his legs, but no great impact.

Agyei - 6 - A bright spot, with a couple of moments where he showed pace, power and presence. Clearly got something about him.

A slightly unfulfilling performance but we were up against an extremely well organised United team. With hindsight, perhaps the deployment of Fellaini to screen the ball into Barnes seems obviously, and perhaps its surprising few teams have tried this so effectively before (although perhaps Fellaini is particularly well suited to the job), but it certainly neutralised an awful lot of our structured play today. Because of this, perhaps it was a surprise that Dyche didn't respond, perhaps by moving Barnes to the left wing role in which he's previously operated for us to take him out of Fellaini's reach.

There's no reason to panic yet - 5 points remains a robust lead at this time in the season - but there's still a slight lack of conviction amongst the players which is slowing us down at times and this is our biggest problem. Some how, Dyche has to inject a tad more confidence into the players over the next week.

Not too bad, but not very good either. United knew if they scored first we'd be struggle, and though it was an excellent counter attack, it was very self inflicted from a terrible cross in a good position.

Ditto the 2nd, and it did seem to affect Brady a lot, as I thought he was excellent up to then, and not as good after it.

Barnes was out Barned by Fellani, and even more blatantly than Barnes does it, which is a feat all in itself.

What worrying is that we created some very good opportunities for crossing and spurned most of them and as a consequence failed to force De Gea into a save.

Heaton 6 - could have done better with both
Lowton 7 - fine
Mee 7 - fine
Keane 7 - fine
Ward 8* - MOM
Boyd 3 - non-existant
Barton 6 - did ok, but we do need more
Hendrick 7 - fine, especially 2nd half
Brady 6 -
Barnes 5 - didn't get a sniff, and you'd want him powering that wonderful cross in in the first half which he wasn't close enough to
Gray 8 - really put in a shift, and that block after his turn robbed him of the goal he certainly deserved

Subs
Tarks 6 - rusty
JBG 6 - ditto
Agyei 6 - looks to have something

Hull and Swansea are probably thinking that we are the team to catch, as we are back to struggling to score, but we should have enough about us to still be safe. But still, we need to be doing a lot more than this to trouble teams at this level.

Oh, and WTF? is that "Cillit Bang" song that United sing?

Pub team in the sense that we have limited tactical options limited players of quality at this level and really on a long ball and flick as though we are playing on Towneley and the middle of the pitch is a quagmire. If you take of your Claret glasses and watch how we performed today it was poor. Incidently not drinking beer in the bar...wine.

Dyche 1 Appeared to be no appetite to change things, as Spice says moving Barnes to the left for example.
United are a good side despite all their changes but it seemed to be a just hope for the best performance rather than trying to force anything.

Heaton 5
Lowton 5. Can't cross the road
Mee 6 steady
Keane 6 ok
Ward 7 mom
Boyd 3 woeful time after time after time.
Barton 3 let's hope his ban comes through soon.
Hendrick 3 £10 million .WOW
Brady 7 only creative player in team
Gray 3 his 2nd touch is a tackle
Barnes 3 try to play football and stop trying to win free kicks all game
Tarkowski 5 let's hope he improves with more game time
JGB 5 glad he is back
Dyche 0 if we go down he is totally at fault. His obsession with 442 and no interest in not changing it when it quite clearly isn't working.Best player we have sat on bench.if we stay up massive changes needed and if relegated big changes also needed. Why waste £10 million on Gawthorpe when our only tactic is hoof it.

Heaton 5-Seemed a lack of understanding and co-ordination between Keeper and back 4. Who was supposed to be picking up Martial early doors?
Lowton 4
Keane 4-
Mee 6-Get back soon Ben we will miss you. Our best defender.
Ward 4
Boyd 3
Hendrick 4
Barton 4 -Big Joey fan but seems very leggy to me at present.
Brady 3-Sponsors MOM. I'll not print what I really think. Just hope this guy doesn't end up SD'S biggest mistake.
Barnes 5
Gray 7-Felt sorry for the lad today, he held the ball up well but no support whatsoever.

Tarkowski 6

I've done these scores off seeing the game real time. Although I taped the match I have no intention of watching back after that embarrassing performance. Sorry for being negative but that was one sickener today.

I couldn't decide if we were not at it or if United were simply better at the ugly stuff. In the end I think a bit of each.

We struggled to show any quality and looked low on confidence, wayward passing and woeful finishing in the large part. United were awful to watch, very ugly, diving, fouling, moaning - a typical Mourinho team, one we struggle to do anything against. He doesn't commit enough men forward away from home for us to exploit. Saying that, Fellaini and particularly Bailly were exceptional.

We have to remember we remain 5 clear and the Swans have Utd then Everton next. It isn't inconceivable that we will need a point against West Brom or Palace to be safe. It isn't panic stations.

Beaten by a superior team. Every player for Utd was better than our players. Our only hope was that we could unsettle them and produce the better team performance; unfortunately for us Mourihno has now got Utd playing in the style he wants.

Heaton - 6

Lowton - 6

Keane - 7

Mee - 6

Boyd - 3 woeful

Barton - 4 been poor for weeks now

Hendrick - 5 overrun

Brady - 6 best he's been in the first half, hardly in the second

Gray - 7 our stand out player, completely unsupported and didn't get the service he needs. He's not a player who creates something out of nothing but he did really well today.

Barnes - 3 absolutely garbage. Needs replacing this summer. Bailly, who was excellent, absolutely owned him.

Tarkowski - 5 he always seems a bit Hollywood and today was the same

JBG - 5 ineffective

Game over at half time and the 2nd half was like pre-season friendly. We badly missed vokes up top and the likes of Boyd and Barnes have run their course with us now, Barnes especially. A one trick pony and it's a crap trick.

United are a very good side but there was no bite and no fight from us which is the most disappointing thing. Men against boys stuff.

I said before half time we needed to get Barnes off, defour on and push Hendrick forward. Our midfield was dominated and pumping it forward to two midgets was utterly fruitless.

He was there with your mate Walton's favourite forward in Barnes. Although you've stopped short in calling him a prick.

You also got Bailly and Fellaini mixed up.
