Not looking good on the Mee front ....
Taken straight to hospital at HT and awaiting furter news after initial X-Rays.
Hopefully it isn't too bad but not looking good for him to be back soon even if he is probably one of the "hardest" players I've ever seen in a claret shirt.

Phil Malley would have finished the game.

He played in the Orient team though didn't he - so all his mishaps can be forgiven for that alone in my eyes.Vegas Claret wrote:count yourself lucky !

Been one of the big positives for me this season. Hope it's not too bad and he recovers quickly.

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
Player of the season for me so far - even with his few slips earlier in the season .... we would not be so solid at the back without him....... I'm actually happy that it's Keane that teams are fighting over rather than Mee who would be a hell of a lot harder to replace.

He may have.

Not doubting your info as it's always correct, but I just thought it was odd for the club to tweet that in this case.bfccrazy wrote:From a trusted source as always mate - potentially a lot more to it.

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
I'm hoping it's nothing more but know he's been in for X-Rays and still in hospital. My understanding would be that for a bruised shin he'd be out by now.ksrclaret wrote:Not doubting your info as it's always correct, but I just thought it was odd for the club to tweet that in this case.

Apparently he's still waiting to be seen in A&E.

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
Ligament damage was said by a team member after the game - out for the season
Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
Really bad news if true. The only positive is that it gives Tarkowski a feel for the league before we start again next season, subject to us getting one more point to stay up (imo).

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
From the boss himself :-
But Ben Mee saw his record as an ever present in the Premier League this season end when he came off at half-time with a shin injury, and Dyche said he would be given a couple of days off to try and rest a recurring problem.
"He’s been managing it really, it was getting sorer and sorer and we have to make a decision," he said.
"We’ll give him a few days off now to rest it and hopefully it will settle down."

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
I didnt even see anything happen to him, presuming it wasnt an impact injury?

Judging from that SD quote in Telegraph it's not from the game but something that's been there a while

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
Even more worrying. Why not play someone who was 100% fit?
Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
Because you play the best player for the job. If you refuse to play anyone who at this stage of the season is carrying a knock, you are likely to have a seriously weakened team.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Even more worrying. Why not play someone who was 100% fit?
I don't recall anyone, not even the usual susepcts, complaining that Mee hasn't been up to scratch recently. Whatever his injury is, not even the most critical supporter has said he hasn't been worth his place. So assuming the injury won't cause long-term damage, why drop him before you have to?

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
I wasnt aware he was injured myself. But if he isnt 100% you dont play him. As Dyche says - its small margins.
An unfit Ben Mee against players as skilful and quick as Martial, Rooney, Lingaard and co is a recipe for disaster. I would say the same if it was Keane or A N Other.
Heaton was dropped for Robinson when he wasnt 100% - he was ill, not injured as well.
I hope its minor. Playing on an injury can cause more long term damage than a few games out. See Defour!

Re: Not looking good on the Mee front ....
Football has never worked that way. Jimmy McIlroy was carrying an injury towards the end of the 1969-60 season, and there were no subs then either. But if an injured McIlroy is better than a fit next-man-in, and you aren't going to cause long-term damage, then McIlroy plays.cricketfieldclarets wrote:I wasnt aware he was injured myself. CT - "I banged into a chair when I got home and have bruised my shin. Mine must not be quite as bad as Ben's because I'm hoping to be fit for Crystal Palace next Saturday "bfccrazy wrote:Taken straight to hospital at HT and awaiting furter news after initial X-Rays.

If CT is fit for Saturday so is Ben Mee!
Obviously the medical team, your usually reliable source and the Burnley players wont know as much about just a bruised shin and how long he could be out for as CT does....
