Law firm Hang your heads in shame

Post by Healeywoodclaret » Tue Apr 25, 2017 1:42 pm

Law firm Day Solicitors used Legal Aid to pursue false claims against British Soldiers knowing it's clients belonged to a feared Iraqi death squad. They claimed they were representing innocent civilians who had been tortured by troops after being taken prisoner. They unlawfully paid bribes and 75 grand to an Iraqi fixer who found people willing to bring false claims. The Al-sweady inquiry eventually found the abuse claims were lies.

They did this to line their own pockets.

Disgusting doesn't even begin to describe the greed of these creatures.

"They did this to line their own pockets."

At the expense of British taxpayers too. So much for Law firms upholding the law!

Does it really surprise you ? Many legal firms are just profit making machines with low morals if any.

No it doesn't surprise me low morals and greed to this magnitude, causing soldiers and their families having to endure years of worry arising from these false claims just disgusts me.

Law firms aren't who uphold the law, it's judges who do that. However law firms are supposed to be trustworthy enough that us plebs who can't tell the difference between a barrister and a barista can put our faith in their ability to interpret and communicate the law as our advocates.

There are some proper cowboys around, more than not I would guess. Especially these injury claims lawyers - what legal expertise / qualification / experience do they even need? Very little at a guess!

Too many ambulance chasers,

I hope they use the treason charge against the Iraq claims solicitors so that the death penalty is in play. they should have used it for the bankers as well.

If they describe themselves as 'lawyers' then dont trust them. If you call yourselves 'solicitors' then there have to be some qualified solicitors amongst them. Calling yourself a solicitor when you are not is a criminal offence.
'lawyer' doesn't really mean anything much. Using that term usually means 'I'm not a solicitor or anything of the sort but I'm going to pretend that I've gor more than a cse in woodwork'

Law firms don't uphold the law. That's the role of the police. Law firms interpret the law. (And, yes, some are more greedy than others.)

This is what happens when you let civvies loose on the battlefield with an unlimited budget. Perhaps we should insist they accompany the troops into action and tell them when to open fire, rather than retrospectively examine their actions years later in an air-conditioned office in London with the lure of massive fees. Armoured car chasing w4nkers the lot of them.

Well, who was smarter. The guys in the air-conditioned office, or the guys bleeding in the front line. A remember a line from the Pink Floyd song "Us and Them", about "Forward, they cried, and the men in the front rank died." The next line was about generals watching the lines on the map move from side to side. We can't all be generals, nor should we want to be. But it's a whole lot better than being a grunt.

Swing and a miss. The point I was making wasn't that lawyers are smarter than soldiers, it was that they should make their legal decisions at the time the bullets were flying not years later. Thanks for the musical reference, but there are plenty of poems and songs about war and most of them are tedious and banal.

Better to be a lying cheating greedy B@stard than a soldier doing his job? Nobody said war is good. Soldiers die at war. And then there's the bloodsuckers in their air conditioned offices. F@c king creatures. It's treason.

My opinion of Law firms was reinforced with the film The Devils Advocate (1997) - they're all spawn of the Devil...

I've got nothing against the military. It's how society works. The military is merely the last resort for political decisions. Look at what's going on in Korea right now. Say what you want about Trump's motives, can a nation exist in the world today without any moral compunction, and at the whims of a single dictator? They can sqwuack all they want about destroying the Great Satan, but at some point reality sets in. (Or we ALL get blown to smithereens.)
