Re: Will Barton..
He's banned from all football activities, they will probably wait for the appeal before terminating his contract.

Has Arnie been seen at the training ground?
Re: Will Barton..
Does that include training for a team?Quickenthetempo wrote:He's banned from all football activities, they will probably wait for the appeal before terminating his contract.

I presume it's everything to do with football. Commentary, coaching, training and anything else he might get appearance money for.cutsy123 wrote:Does that include training for a team?

Re: Will Barton..
Which bit of banned from all football activities do you struggle with?
If he wants to stay fit he's got to do it away from Burnley.
Plus his contract is up soon, so you won't see him in a Burnley shirt again.

Re: Will Barton..
I hope we pay him until the end of the contract.
He served us well and was the major influence in our success last season. Would be crass of us to scrap his contract 2 months early. Particularly as we knew about this when we signed him.

250k is still a lot of money for us. Personally I would rather they shared it out among all the matchday staff/tea ladies etc on minimum wage if they don't need it like.cricketfieldclarets wrote:I hope we pay him until the end of the contract.

Re: Will Barton..
Why can't he commentate? Do the FA have any powers over tv or radio?
He has broken FA Rules not the Law so I can't see how they can tell Sky and the rest they can't use him.

Re: Will Barton..
Commy is right - whilst Joey has admitted his crime and the F.A, can ban him from football matches in their jurisdiction, they cannot ban him from making a living (we're still in the EU) from other football related matters, they have massively over-stepped the mark here both in terms of the length of the ban (when compared to other crimes) and in trying to stop him from participating in things that are way outside their control.
If Joey wants to write a magazine article for Amateur Hamster Collectors' Weekly on the offside rule, then he's perfectly at liberty to do so

Re: Will Barton..
It's just been announced that Joey will co-commentate on Clarets player on Saturday. To hide it from the authorities he will be speaking in French.

Re: Will Barton..
Given we were aware that he may be banned when we signed him I hope we had a clause saying that he wouldn't be paid if banned.

Re: Will Barton..
Surely he cant be banned from education ??
Re: Will Barton..
His contract will reflect clauses to cover this eventuality,So much a week if he was available for selection ( not banned as a result of the betting hearing) dropping to either nothing or very little (in football earnings terms) in the eveny of a ban,

Re: Will Barton..
If its related to coaching badges yes as the courses are FA run.
The Welsh FA would probably stand by it too.

Re: Will Barton..
Ironically he will have even more time to bet ( not on football but on other sports.

Would he be banned from doing his badges abroad?

I've no doubt that any contract with him would have taken the ban into consideration.
Re: Will Barton..
Presumably he can attend matches to watch.

Maybe he'll take a leaf out of John Bond's book and sneak into grounds disguised as a steward!
