It wasn't a shot, he was still trying to control it.

Give him an option of a pass or the need for a touch and he'll blow it, but present him with an opportunity where he doesn't need to use his brain and he's virtually guaranteed to score.

Of all our strikers only Andre could have finished that chance.

He took it very well. I felt confident he'd score it actually. We just need to play to his strengths a little more.

Has he really been getting grief from away support as I haven't heard any when I've attended, pointing to his ears again ?

Well done Dyche as well, the game was crying out for Andre and he stuck him on just at the right time.

The game was becoming stretched and that is when Andre is most effective.

One of the pundits later, not sure which, questioned the Palace keeper being beaten on his near post...
Yeah right.
He'd absolutely no chance.
Andre just rifled it!
Great through ball by George, brilliant finish by Andre.

Before kick off questioned decision to play Vokes and Barnes, they softened up struggling central defenders, Andre repeated the reward!!!

Fantastic finish from Gray and I thiought he had to check his stride to get the ball on his right foot. Absolute class.

It was a brilliant finish, and a fantastic ball through from Boyd.

Simple question: has AG scored with anything but his right foot this season?

Great ball by Boyd and finish to match from Gray. Just noticed that in the 5 PL games today no home teams scored and only 1 team scored more than 1.

Cant remember the last through ball like that he had to run onto. Give him that service he will score. Great finish and as mentioned above took me back to last season.

Exactly. A hoofed bouncing ball with 2 or 3 defenders on him what's he supposed to do? A threaded ball to his feet and he will do the business.

Given the service will always have goals in him, important we keep him but I fancy he doesn't feel loved and will want away,

It happened pretty much in front of the away fans. As soon as the ball was played to him I thought he was certain to score. It just looked and felt like he was ready to unleash a telling run/shot.
Just got back, can't wait to see Match of the Day now. Just finishing some scran then opening a bottle of cava I've had in the fridge (for some time) to celebrate that away win. Saving the champagne for when we're mathematically safe.

Brilliant finish. That's been the problem of late he just hasn't had that type of service, give him those and he'll bag em.

Absolutely. Generally he's proved he's a very capable finisher at this level given the service.

Stuart Pearce stated during commentary on TalkSport that he felt fairly confident that if Andre Gray came on that he would score because the only thing that Burnley were lacking was any real pace to threaten the Palace defence. On cue Andre delivered with an excellent finish.

Superb finish, superb through ball. Andre would have a few more goals if there was more service like Boyd pass.

Andre made quite a habit of beating 'Keepers at their near posts with power and accuracy lay Season. He's not had the same amount opportunities this term through playing against better defences and superior 'Keepers, but I'd still back him to score rather than not when he does get in those situations.

vokes had a similar situation in the game and you just knew he wasnt going to score...took it too wide..too many touches...chance gone.
whilst Andre couldnt trap a bag of sand, what he does do as well as any striker is take his shot early...low and hard whilst he still has the angle....they say a keeper shouldnt get done at his near post...well I aint blaming him for being beaten by that exocet...utc.

Talk about covering all the bases!

It's not a myth.

Generally his first touch is poor. Not always, as this goal proves. Good touch, great strike. Unstoppable.

Let's not kid ourselves though. He's not Suarez.

It's not rocket science .play the ball infront of him on the ground behind defenders and he will score. The service he has been getting in previous games has been awful .Balls lumped up or played chest height have been giving him little chance of success .
Messi wouldn't have scored with this awful service.
Supporters who have been critics of his play have a poor grasp of the reasons for Andres problems scoring.

To be fair Woodley, those who are critics of his play are, like me, fully aware of his scoring ability. It's the other elements required that are a little lacking. Has shown improvement though, i'll give him that.

Service to him yesterday was very good for his goal.

I'm hoping, if he decides to stay, that a pre-season with a fit Gudmundson and an up to speed Brady could see Gray getting fed more of those balls through that he will thrive on.
He's not had a bad return of goals this Season, all things considered. He could get plenty more next term with the right set-up.
