Re: Mee & Barton
You mean when Dyche walked past Defour shook his hand, patted him on the back and said something like "well done". It's a team effort, even the bench. It must be hard to manage and I'm as frustrated as anyone with Defour not playing, but don't make out like something sinister happened between them both.

People see/hear/read things differently, that's always been obvious on here.

What did you want them to do - bumming in the centre circle?Steve1956 wrote:They touched hands on my stream, there was certainly no love in between them !

Re: Mee & Barton
A player on the bench not happy at sitting on the bench?
That isn't a bad problem really.
Stop worrying, the season is nearly over.

It's not a problem though - if he doesn't want to be here he can leave in the summer

Ok, I will miss him though and I suspect a lot of our support will,I want to see us improve year on year keeping players of Defour's talent at the club is paramount.taio wrote:It's not a problem though - if he doesn't want to be here he can leave in the summer

Keeping Defour isn't paramount. Signing others players is...which we will

Re: Mee & Barton
With two years left on his contract, he'll only go if the deal is right for Burnley.

I thought this thread was about Barton & Mee, for me same team next week I like Ben but Tarks looks far more composed with better use of the ball.

Re: Mee & Barton
Tarks had a great game for sure.
Ben Mee has had lots of great games this year. He`s up there as the player of the year.
I doubt very much whether Dyche will forget about all these performances and put Tarks ahead of Mee on the basis of one good game.

Re: Mee & Barton
Why change a winning side especially when they settled down after the first five minutes and all played magnificently.

Maybe not that, but maybe a bit of frantic frotting, followed by a gentle, spooning cuddle?taio wrote:What did you want them to do - bumming in the centre circle?

Re: Mee & Barton
Westwood replaced Barton more than adequately. Tarkowski did well but Mee has been outstanding.
No obvious problem at all. Dyche likes 442 and Defour suits a 451 best. Simple.

Re: Mee & Barton
What formation do Belgium play then?
I thought it was 4-4-2 for some reason.

Re: Mee & Barton
Agree. It's important we have players who want to play for Burnley. Signing Defour is a sign of intent to sign quality players. From what we've seen, whether through fitness levels, injuries or some other reasons Steven Defour hasn't fulfilled his promise this season. It will be sorted out in the summer.taio wrote:Keeping Defour isn't paramount. Signing others players is...which we will

Definitely not 442. Tend to play one up supported by two from wide areas.Sidney1st wrote:What formation do Belgium play then?

Re: Mee & Barton
We've got 3 great CBs. Michael Keane was imperious yesterday. James Tarkowski was excellent in his first Premier League start. We all expect Michael Keane to leave at the end of this season. We all know who our two first choice CBs will be next season.
Team selection dilemma, when Ben Mee is fully fit again: do we continue to show off Michael Keane's skills to maximise his transfer value, or do we play Ben Mee and James Tarkowski together to start to build our CB partnership so that they are ready for a "flying start" on the opening game of next season and "wrap Michael Keane in cotton wool" to avoid a long term injury (as Danny Ings suffered after joining Lpool)?

If Ward is not fit for next match and Mee is,who would you prefer at left back Flanagan or Mee.Mee for me.

Re: Mee & Barton
Flanagan did OK yesterday against a skillfull winger who is in great form. Looked rusty but a few games would sort that out.Jimscho wrote:If Ward is not fit for next match and Mee is,who would you prefer at left back Flanagan or Mee.Mee for me.
Watching a player coming in and playing an occasional game or cameo doesn't allow anyone to gauge how good someone is. Tarks showed lots of rustiness last week when he came on for Ben and he has had several more cameo appearances than Flanagan.

Never seen or heard the word before! Wouldn't mind doing it to Rachael Riley though! (Whatever it is as long as it doesn't involve animals)

Not for one minute would I opt to move Ben Mee back to the left back position. Jon Flanagan was excellent in the second half at Palace and we've also got Robbie Brady to come in and play at left back.
