RL One Day Cup: Yorkshire v RedRose

Post by jdrobbo » Mon May 01, 2017 12:06 pm

Yorkshire currently 81-2 after 16.3

I see they've called in some of their 'big boys' ... they must be concerned??

I was just about to tune into IPL on Sky when I was reminded that this, more important, game was taking place. Now tuned in.

Lancs in green though??? Always been, more appropriately, a red strip previously (or has the unnecessary "away strip" come into cricket now as well).

Great to see all the top players playing in a county game for a change.
Shame Jos isn't here as well.

Livingstone needs to go big for Lancs to win but he looks in fine fettle early doors.

That Lancs kit is utterly shocking.

I can only assume it has something to do with the kit sponsor.

I am thinking that Lancs may well have to sign even more KOLPAK players to become competitive this season.

You sound like a Rovers fan who now only have their stadium capacity to boast about.

Bedfords the message board archives show your disdain for the white ball game so I'm surprised at your swipe at the red rose county over a piddly 50 over game \ I agree that the duke ball format is proper and we have started better than you. In terms of grounds I did actually yawn out loud at your likeness of me to a rovers fan. Lancs have developed a stadium fit for the world arena and are commercially astute enough to know that The Point \ The Hilton Hotel and the May BH weekend live concerts all bring in well needed revenue which has given us a 60% increase in operating profit to 31st December 2016 or £1.2 million in real terms. Compare this with your £368K for the same period and your first profit since our first-ever season in the Premier League or 2009 in real terms.

I have a son in law who is a born and bred Yorkshireman that supports the White Rose with a passion, Leeds Rhinos are in his opinion THE rugby league team and yet when it comes to football it is the mighty Liverpool that gains his undying support. For me, I was born in Burnley and although I have lived in Kent for 50 of my 55 years there can only be Burnley and Lancashire - anything else just wouldn't seem right for me.

Talking about Headingley from what I have heard they will lose their International status unless vast improvements are made to the ground.

It is in a shambolic state and Yorkshire are massively in debt because of the terrible way in which they have and are being run.

So now the council have stepped in and are going to give them the money to improve the ground to meet International standards.

I bet the everyday Yorkshire council tax payer is jumping in his boots with excitement.

I went to Headingley for the first time in years on Monday.

It was really shoddy. The whole ground, bar the pavilion, looked like something stuck in a sixties time warp, the Western terrace was closed and there were only two bars and five food outlets(ironically most were behind the western terrace) for a crowd that filled 75% of the remaining areas.

Seems like cost cutting is winning the war against investment

Given the quality of players they recruit from other counties, Willey & Plunkett, they must pay handsome wages.

Lost the plot!

Perhaps it would be eminently more sensible to let the cricket do the talking !

A deal has been made for Headingley, which will involve the joint funding and therefore, development of the entire complex (cricket and rugby). If test status is list, it won't be for linf

They have just got a loan for 38m with the council guarantors haven't they? Add that to the 23m debt they already have and the interest rates will take some paying back never mind the money.

Bairstow innings today of 170+ would be worth seeing, pity he doesn't play 1 day cricket for England.

They probably feel similar to the Trafford Borough residents who have lent Lancashire £4m and the residents of Greater Manchester who have given, not lent, them £5m to finance the latest works at Old Trafford.
