Best Amateur Cricket Ground in Lancashire
Think we've caused a bit of a stir setting this up.
After a bit of fun on Twitter, we’ve decided to put up a poll for the best ground in Lancashire. We’ve split it by League.
Voting rules:
Vote lasts for 48 hours.
You can vote 1 club per league
We then will put a poll of each league winner for a master poll.
Vote here.
Thoughts?

I like Rishton. Nice setting, good tracks and I always scored runs there. Come to think of it, they'd a couple of rank bad bowlers there, "The Yates' Brothers" who loved to give you a few long hops and half volleys each over. I once hit a ball off the much elder brother (Tony) to Clayton le moors. The supporters were very generous with my collection that day as well.

Huncoat - has it been your day off and you have been in the Railway on the beer all afternoon or just had a memory lapse?HuncoatClaret wrote:I like Rishton. In the twenty odd years that we played against each other I can never recall you hitting the ball off the square never mind for a six.
But keep dreaming and I'm on my way to The Stanley to get you banned.
You can go supping with your head teacher somewhere.

Re: Best Amateur Cricket Ground in Lancashire
Lowerhouse had by far the worst ground in the Lancashire League until improvements over the last few years have made it one of the best.
This is down to grants for improvements both on and off the pitch, money raised by the management and members to update facilities but not forgetting the huge amount of hard work put in by certain individuals. The trees have been cut back, new fencing put in place, new benches around the ground and flower beds provide a splash of colour.
Having said that Todmorden is the best ground. It is well kept and its location is unrivalled.

Bacup is a good ground. It's the weather that's the major problem up there. Cold ? Virtually always.

Got to be Rawtenstall although going to be a tough year for us this season, always enjoy playing at Tod and Rammy, both big open grounds so not always a good atmosphere if there's a few watching but always in superb condition

Re: Best Amateur Cricket Ground in Lancashire
Tony, I ask that you remove those comments as they are factually incorrect.
I will happily share he email exchanges with anyone.
I explained that the bar area would likely be busy and explained the reasons why and offered you some alternatives BUT made it clear, more than once, that you still had the main sponsors area reserved for you if that was your preference.
Your comments are out of order and I am surprised you e seen fit to post them on here.

I would love to say Nelson but the motorway embankment makes it so I can't. Decent pavilion though.
Another vote for Todmorden.

Re: Best Amateur Cricket Ground in Lancashire
I've just seen the e mail exchange and you are bang out of order tybfc.
You were offered the original package from the get go but you were also offered alternatives which may better suit your party if required.
I read one person trying to be accommodating and one being awkward and obstructive for the sake of it. And to post the account you have on here quite honestly you should be ashamed.

I think that we should stay out of it.
TyBFC has upset all of the House mafia and them lads like their booze and can arm themselves with cricket bats.
They've even got a navy which could quite easily reach the outskirts of Accy along the canal.

Pop your email addresses on here and I'll gladly share them with you.
Absolutely nothing to hide and people can judge for themselves.
I'm amazed that someone like Tony, who has clearly been involved in amateur sport and clubs and volunteers at his local Church has seen fit to criticise an establishment that relies heavily on volunteers like myself, on a public form.
