We were good enough to win today so its disappointing, however WBA are our bogey team so all things considered a draw and survival will do me!

Heaton 7. Did well and not to blame for the goals.
Lowton 7. Good going forward and some good crosses today.
Ward 7. See Lowton
Long 9. Given that he hasnt played for us in a long time, especially at this level and alongside another inexperienced at this level centre half he was remarkable. Very composed. Good on the ball. Quick.
Tarkowski 9. See Long.
Arfield 7. Did well. Could have scored. Played some nice touches with the front two.
Boyd 7. Typical Boyd performance but beat a few men today too. Did well.
Hendrick 9. Ran the show in the centre. Picked it up from the back four. Broke forward with strength and confidence.
Westwood 7. Neat and tidy. Like jones with energy.
Barnes 6. Didnt really offer too much over the game bjt could have had a penalty before we scored.
Vokes 9. Perfecr target man performance and not just for his goals. We are always a bigger threat with him in the side. Stats show that.

Heaton 7 Looked mostly composed. No chance with either goal.
Lowton 6 -1 for not closing down on the 1st goal.
Long 7 Did remarkably well considering it was his 1st start
Tarkowski 8 Solid game. With more starts this guy will become awesome.
Ward 7 Perhaps still carrying a knock but a very solid game.
Arfield 7 Scotty put himself about and was unlucky not to score.
Hendrick 8 Very composed in the middle of the park. Starting to believe in himself.
Westwood 8 Very tidy game. He's the glue that holds things together in the middle of the park. Starting to form a good understanding with Hendrick.
Boyd 7 Normal hard working performance from Geogie Boy.
Barnes 7 Does what he does best and ruffled some WBA feathers.
Vokes 8 MOM Two goals, an energetic performance and won his fair share of headers against a Pulis defence. Looking sharper and dare I say faster.

First half, well, it was 45 minutes long, the cricket looked ok and both my kids commented on the flashy advertising hoarding.

Second half, much better game and probably one we should have won and in the end a pretty decent affair, and it ended with us being safe for another season. It doesn't get much better than this if you are a claret, and its over to the bastards to make it a very memorable one.

But I digress!

Lowton 7 - poor for their equaliser though, should have bought him down after giving him all that room
Arfield 7 - last two games have shown that there is life in Scotty at this level yet

Westwood 8 - rarely wasted a ball
Hendrick 9* - ran the midfield I thought
Barnes 7 - did well for the first
Vokes 9 - handful all games and two goals

Its a hell of an achievement for the boys and SD, and one that I hope we can build on, but for the moment, lets just enjoy another season in the premier league.

Heaton - 7 - Generally fairly solid, not sure he could do anything about either goal, otherwise fairly untroubled.

Lowton - 7 - Very good apart from one really bad lapse for WBA's equaliser, and then recovered well.

Ward- 8 - Thought he put in a really good shift to say that I suspect he wasn't 100% fit, and got forward to good effect.

Long - 7 - Caught a few times, but considering he's barely played in 2 years, can be really really pleased with his day's work.

Tarkowski - 7 - I think he lost Dawson for the second goal, but it was a hell of a ball in. Another good day at the office defensively, and generally used the ball well. Did a great job of organising the defence in the absence of Keane and Mee, which is hugely creditable given it was only his second start at this level.

Westwood - 8 - Unfussy, not flashy, but really effective. Moved the ball simply, but crisply a decisively, and that made a real difference for our front men. Also did a cracking job of protecting the centre halves.

Hendrick - 7 - Dovetailed really nicely with Westwood, which promises much for next season. Occasionally a bit ambitious in trying to thread balls through the eye of a needle, but drove forward with real purpose and committed defenders regularly, Suspect he might also have been carrying an injury as it times it looked a bit as though he was playing with the hand brake on.

Arfield - 7 - Neat and tidy all afternoon, got into really threatening positions and provided a couple of really penetrating passes. Also produced 3 or 4 really good corners, one of which Tarkowski should have scored from.

Boyd - 7 - Steady enough, although in these games he lacks finesse occasionally, and he had the chance to avoid the second corner from which, indirectly, WBA equalised - his poor header resulted in a cheap second corner, and whilst we eventually scrambled that clear, we never regained our shape.

Vokes - 9 - A really lively and alert performance, two really well taken goals and unlucky not to poach a third with an instinctive first time finish in the first half. Generally, ran WBA's defenders around, won headers and gave our attack a real focal point.

Barnes - 6 - Decent first half, but faded as an influence well before he was substituted, although he does deserve huge credit for the first goal.

Gray - 7 - Thought he should have been on 10 minutes earlier after WBA's equaliser, to give us a different outlet and change the flow of the game. Gave us a more direct threat that the WBA defence never looked entirely comfortable dealing with.

Brady, Gudmundsson - one won the free kick, one delivered it - so both contributed to the equaliser and made it a really good double change from Dyche.

Well, what a fantastic achievement. We are safe now in all but name, and with two games to go - it probably exceeds all our expectations. This was largely an excellent, fluent, performance - we moved the ball crisply around the midfield, and after a first half in which we struggled at times to breaak down WBA, we were knocking on the door well before we got a deserved lead. Two poor goals threatened to spoil the party, but we responded well and looked the more likely to win it once we equalised.

Great to see players like Westwood, Hendrick, Boyd, Arfield and above all Vokes contribute so much to this performance - they've all been written off at times this season by many, and they've all proved their worth over the season. And the performances of Tarkowski and Westwood as replacements for Barton and Keane is a huge positive ahead of next season.

Subs. ALL made a difference and like just about everyone else who was there I couldn't understand why it took so long to get Gray on.

In many ways a pretty even game, but a game we should have won I felt. Overall I felt we were better than them and that's in contrast to some home games where we've won without perhaps fully deserving all the points. Two unfortunate defensive lapses and enough chances at the other end to have won it reasonably comfortably imo. Well done to Long who I really don't want to see playing too often, especially at this level, but to be fair he did well.

Heaton - 7 Solid as usual
Lowton - 6 We were in control of the match and his lapse set up the equaliser but for me our most improved player as the season has progressed
Tarkowski - 7 Dawson was his man and he lots him but he has played really well after so long on the bench which augurs well
Long - 8 Gets an extra mark for doing so well after so long out. I was never convinced he would make a championship defender never mind Prem and as usual but pleasingly looks like I was wrong
Ward - 7 Been such a good player for us in this pivotal season
Arfield - 7 Two good performances in 2 games proving the doubters wrong
Hendrick - 8 MOM I'm really liking this guy. I'm hoping he trains on and could be THE MAN next season
Westwood - 8 Starting to see what SD and his team saw in him when we signed him
Boyd - 7 Same as Scotty
Vokes - 8 I love Sam and it was great to see him get a brace at this level
Barnes -7 I was disappointed MOTD did not make more of him not playing for the penalty as it was role model stuff - not that I ever thought I would have Ashley and role model in the same sentence!!

Heaton 7 - little to do really.
Lowton 7 - very good game but loses one for big mistake for their first goal
Long 7 - did well
Tarkowski 7 - lost his man for their second but another good game
Ward 8 - in a rich vein of form
Boyd 7 - good first half especially
Hendrick 8 - best game for a few weeks
Westwood 8 (MoM) - last 2 weeks he has been excellent

Thought we looked very fluid on many an occasion during the game. Tarkowski`s ability to play a long `pass` and play short diagonal balls through to the midfield two really helped our forward momentum albeit until late in the game it was akin to a pre-season friendly.

Heaton 6 (couldn`t do `owt for either goal)

Lowton 7 (would have been 8 if not for the awful defending for their first goal)
Long 7 (looked assured)
Tarkowski 8 (would`ve been 9 if not for their 2nd goal)
Ward 7 (assured and positive as always)

Arfield 7 (thought he did well but was fading a little mid 2nd half)
Hendrick 7 (looks good)
Westwood 8 (VERY good performance). Thought his work with Tarkowski, Hendrick and Boyd was impressive and helped our positivity.
Boyd 7 (think he enjoyed our more fluid system today)

Barnes 7 (never gives up and great determination for the first)
Vokes 8 (happy for him...looked a lot more mobile and up for it.

Long - 8 he's always looked a decent player and to say he's had about 10 mins of premier league football over two years ago, he was excellent. Strong, quick and decent on the ball.

Tarkowski - 7 lost Dawson for their 2nd but otherwise had a very good game, his volley from the corner would have burst the net

Ward - 7 standard decent game

Boyd - 6 looked better when he switched sides

Westwood - 8 a younger, quicker David Jones, which is exactly what we've missed in midfield. Played it simple and kept us moving across the pitch whilst protecting the back four.

Hendrick - 7 picked up a knock fairly early on which he was clearly feeling for the rest of the game. Good partnership with Westwood as they kept it on the floor.

Arfield - 7 good stuff from Scott, a couple of excellent corners that we should have scored from and when he came inside and found space between the lines, put a couple of lovely passes through; that's where he's dangerous.

Barnes - 6 not really in it but did very well for the first goal when half the ground and their team was watching the linesman's flag

Vokes - 8 a giant in the land of the giants, really needed Gray alongside him to make more of his flicks. Two good finishes, the second particularly clever.

First half was one of the worst this season with neither side offering much, Pulis' team typically sucking the life out of the game and us generally playing into their hands.

Our changes should really have come when they equalised and predictably we looked far more creative and threatening with the three subs on. Not difficult to understand the plan though, to try and match physically a team with seemingly no players under 6' 5".

Special shout outs to Long, Westwood and Vokes on the day but the biggest about out to the team as a whole for the season. Safety hasn't really been in doubt for some weeks now but it's nice to get it confirmed.

I find myself agreeing with CT...blimey! Except that I think Sam Vokes, with his first Prem brace and almost a third, made the difference, so MOM.
