Team for NEXT season
Just thinking about changes that could happen over the summer...what do you think the team will look like come the 1st game of next season?
My guess;
Heaton
Lowton Tarks Mee Robertson
JBG Westwood Hendrick Brady
Gray Deeney
Don't see SD making many changes...

I'd rather have Ward at left back as he's solid, dependable and won't make mistakes.burnley007 wrote:Just thinking about changes that could happen over the summer...what do you think the team will look like come the 1st game of next season?

Because he's a good player. Is your view on him because of footballing abilities or his history outside the game? Seriously not questioning your opinion just why such a strong viewherbatlerbat wrote:Deeney...........I dont want him anywhere near our team, cant see why anybody would.

Re: Team for NEXT season
Would like to see a better first choice right back to push Lowton for his place to be honest even though he's had an ok season after a shaky start.
Preferably someone who can cross a ball ....
Definitely need a new first choice striker who can control a ball into feet if we must persist in playing that way...

I'd love us to sign Deeney. He has a decent record at this level and is big, strong and (as far as I know) not slow. He's also got a fighting attitude which I think would make him ideal for a Dyche side.

Agree with Indigo, but I think SHp will be right. I can't see him moving to us.
Him and Gray would be a real handful though, that's for sure.

Robertson would be great backup but its unlikely he'd want to stay on the bench until Ward gets injured etc.burnley007 wrote:Just thinking about changes that could happen over the summer...what do you think the team will look like come the 1st game of next season?

Hull will be getting raided should they go down, I hope they do so we can steal a few.

My opinion.
Heaton
Lowton New Mee Ward
New New Hendrick Brady
New Gray
We need a centre half to replace Keane who is good enough. Not replacing him directly may affect us. Everybody can see we are crying out for some pace and quality on the wing. We need a creative central midfielder. New target man alongside gray who will compliment his style of play. I would even contemplate looking at replacing Lowton with somebody who can cross a ball. The amount of times we waste the ball down the wings is worrying. We need another Tripper.

target man - Barnes or Vokes seem to do well alongside Gray....
Re: Team for NEXT season
Deeney is two years older than Vokes and has scored just two more goals despite playing more and being on penalties.
If we're spending that much on a striker I'd want someone significantly better than Big Sam.

What's the point in signing players like Tarkowski if we never play them. It won't encourage others to come.colne-claret wrote:My opinion.

We need to build on the progress we are making and not get too loyal to players who have been great for us. We will struggle if we do not add to this group next season. We need more quality in the final third and more creativity. Is tarkowski the answer? Who knows? But I certainly don't want us to get into September and realise that he's not because that will be a disaster.Sidney1st wrote:Defence - Tarks.

Re: Team for NEXT season
We will be losing an England International centre half. All I am saying is we need to get it right. I don't know if Tarkowski is good enough. If Lowton left would we say well we have got Darikwa? We need to move forward and im not sure he would improve us.Spijed wrote:What's the point in signing players like Tarkowski if we never play them. It won't encourage others to come.
Re: Team for NEXT season
The team that'll start the season may not be much different to the one now (which may disappoint some people)
Heaton
Lowton, Tarks, Mee, Ward
JBG, Westwood, Hendrick, Brady
Barnes, Vokes
The starting XI midway through or towards the end of the season may be slightly different or include new signings. I just can't see Dyche starting the season with a radically different line up.
All my own opinion of course, others may disagree.

Re: Team for NEXT season
The difference is when Darikwa has played it's obvious he's clearly not good enough. However, whenever Tarkowski has been in the team he doesn't look out of his depth.colne-claret wrote:We will be losing an England International centre half. Heaton
New Tarkowski Mee Ward
JBG Hendrick Westwood/Defour Brady
Vokes Gray
Would still prefer us to mix it up via 4-5-1 for some games but I guess that's not going to happen.
We should be looking to improve every first team position as and when players to do so become available. Boyd and Arfield have been great servants but can't see them being in the team much if our ambitions are to push further up the table. It's ok to be loyal to players if they are producing the results...
Would definitely like to see a fast striker with great ball control and finishing but they prob cost around 20m

Diddnt they turn down about 35 million for Deeney at the start of the season??

Turned down 35 million? That's a hell of a lot of rejection letters.

Re: Team for NEXT season
I think there will be wealthier and bigger clubs going in for Maguire and Gibson, and probably Robertson too.
We'll probably be looking at the Championship for a player/players in that area.

I know he's been out with injury this season but I think Connor Whickham would be an excellent signing for us. Perfect vokes upgrade.
Re: Team for NEXT season
Looking at the out of contracts this summer: Zabaleta, Sagna, Adam, Ledley, Darren Fletcher, Lucas Leiva, Leadbitter, Maloney.
Always liked Zabaleta, he's only 32 though, thought he was older than that. We were sniffing round Adam and Ledley last summer allegedly.

A good LB because we don't have any options other than Ward who are out and out left backs, would think we'd get one of Robertson from Hull or Taylor of Leeds.
A New RM just cause of Gudmo's injury record - class player but rarely plays.
New CM to replace Joey and one to start (Stephens and Cairney?) given that Defour leaves.
New ST to challenge the main 3 lads and should really be our big signing, would like Kodjia from Villa or even Jermain Defoe.

Re: Team for NEXT season
One thing is guaranteed is that there won't be more than two new players in the starting lineup at the start of next season. Dyche will see it as too much of a risk with too many changes too soon.
We might sign more than two, possibly three to four players but we won't kick off with so many changes in the team.

KEANE.........TARKOWSKI.....MEE
.....THE DARK DESTROYER......
JBG...WESTWOOD..HENDRICK..BRADY

we need a destroyer a la Kante. Somebody to win the ball back, regularly, and then instigate attacks.
we need a striker who can do everything Barnes and Vokes do but better and then scores himself(15 a year would do) and creates for AG, to get him up to 15 a year without the pens.

Re: Team for NEXT season
If Swansea go down I would go for Gylfi Siggurddsson
Re: Team for NEXT season
While they have a similar goalscoring record in the prem, Whickham is younger, slightly more mobile and has a lot more to his all around game. He can play as one up top or as a two. He would fit our system and compliment the framework. The overall performances Iv seen from Whickham in the prem suggest to me he's an upgrade on Vokes. Of course he's had a serious injury and might not recover but prior to that he was looking good.

Siggurdsson is linked to Everton for £25 million.
Barkley is pondering over a new contract and Koeman isn't going to hang about waiting for him, so Siggurdsson will be his replacement.

Re: Team for NEXT season
A change in formation is a must, away next season. I HONESTLY can`t see our home form bearing quite as much fruit, but we will stick with the 4-4-2 (4-4-1-1). Really would like to see a 4-3-2-1 (a la Bayern Munich!!!!!).
Heaton (hopefully!)
Lowton Tarkowski Mee (a must!) Ward
Hendrick Barton/Stephens (oops!) Westwood (I just can`t see Defour being here)
Gudmundsson (a smidgeon narrower) Brady (hugging the bloody touchline)
Gray OR Rondonesque character
