Robertson and Maguire
only paper talk but look to be off to Liverpoo if it's to be believed

Never going to come to us, far too good. I don't know why fans with their collective heads in the sand kept spouting it as options.

Its a pity we couldn't get Robertson in Jan but, as said above, he is prob now out of our reach as Liverpool are desparate for a left back
As for the likes of Muguire and Gibson - dream on !

Re: Robertson and Maguire
every transfer window Lpool and Manure are linked with dozens of players and sign about 4. I can't see either of them two in red but they are at our level, in both ability and price.

Re: Robertson and Maguire
Why have fans got their heads buried in the sand when Robertson had all but signed for us in January?? It's all paper talk but certainly a realistic target. The better teams will have seen his great performances he has put in since January but they'll also have seen the couple of errors he's made and hulls subsequent relegation too.

Would be great additions to our bench next season to keep the millions of pounds worth of midfield and attacking talent company
Re: Robertson and Maguire
Why would Liverpool want Robertson when they already have Flanagan?

Re: Robertson and Maguire
Both are nowhere near good enough for any of the top 4 clubs, decent players but only middle of the table standard.

I'm sure the same was said about Holden.ewanrob wrote:Both are nowhere near good enough for any of the top 4 clubs, decent players but only middle of the table standard.

Re: Robertson and Maguire
I dispelled this as nothing more than paper talk, but Sky seem to think the Robertson deal is done and dusted. It seems a very odd signing for them, I thought they'd have their sights set much higher.
Re: Robertson and Maguire
Holden only there because of the lack of real quality at Arsenal...but a decent player without doubt.

Re: Robertson and Maguire
We were very close to Robertson in January but once they pulled the plug I was led to believe that ship had sailed as far as we were concerned. I rate him and I like Maguire too. On today's showing though, I don't think many will want Dawson.

Dawson no better than Tarks.
Although I accept we are going to have to get some more back men in the squad.

A bit harsh that. Thought he played alright. Played a lovely ball through in the first half. Other than that was a pretty standard outing.Vegas Claret wrote:Robertson was rubbish today

I'd prefer Grosicki if we are plundering Hull. I think he's proven he's good enough for the league and is prepared to run all day long.

Sam Clucas I feel will be a claret next season, a good fit for Dyche and Burnley

I've always thought that Curtis Davies would end up at Burnley. Would be a good addition to the ranks.

Re: Robertson and Maguire
Always been a tad doubtful about whether Robertson is really good enough defensively for a team that spend a hell of a lot of time without the ball. My impression is that he's a bit prone in that department, although he's only young and I haven't seen that much of him. But it does leave me less disappointed if he's out of range than I might otherwise be. Maguire always seemed a bit unrealistic.
I tend to agree that Hull have a few other players who are interesting. Clucas is definitely one - we have a clear vacancy for a left footed midfielder capable of playing centrally or in a narrow wide position in a midfield 4, and he'd be top of my list (ahead of Cairney, amongst others). Curtis Davies is 32 now, but if we have any doubts over Tarkowski he's a seasoned premier league centre back. Niasse isn't their player but he's an obvious candidate as a replacement for Gray should he go.
The other player who looks to me very much in the Dyche mould is David Meyler, a really good no nonsense central midfielder who could be a really cost effective alternative to Westwood in midfield, and who has the flexibility to operate at right back too.

Re: Robertson and Maguire
Clucas is also a pretty solid left back, and played opposite Tendayi there when Dan Jones was out with a long injury. Obviously he's better going forward as a wing back than as a defender in a back 4.

Let's take the entire Hull first eleven and get relegated, just like they did...

Re: Robertson and Maguire
I don't think anyone is suggesting that. But Hull havent gone down because every player in their ranks isnt up to the job - any more than Heaton and Mee and Ings weren't up to the job because we went down two years ago. At the end of the day the difference between surviving and going down relegation is one of fine margins.kaptin1 wrote:Let's take the entire Hull first eleven and get relegated, just like they did...
They have a nucleus of players who in the right system could be a real asset in the Premier League. Theyre players who its realistic for us to aspire to sign. So mp harm in talking about it.
Curtis Davies, Meyler, Maguire, Robertson, Clucas and Niasse are potentially in that bracket. Huddlestone probably is too, but he doesn't really suit our system.

Re: Robertson and Maguire
He looked like he had a cut to the back of his head from the earlier incident when he was accidentally kicked, though I must say he only played one decent ball and had an habit of getting caught out up front when Palace where breaking forward. One game however does not make a season.ClaretTony wrote:He got injured just before half time, that was why Robertson was substituted.

Joking aside, the two keepers have been the biggest difference between burnley and Hull this season and probably accounts for a 6 point swing. Re: Robertson and Maguire
Maguire can't be Keanes replacement as he looks cumbersome to me as does Tarks a bit but Tarks is not fully match fit and is 12.765r times more skilful than Maguire.
Robertson had his chance
So no on both

Was it Meyler who Pearson shoved over during a game? Bit wet for us he didn't push him back!
