Forest Green Rovers
Sorry if someone else said this but....(1) Congratulations and (2) .....It just needs one more promotion (or one relegation for B******s) for Forest Green vs B******s to be a reality.

And, I don't think their owner, Dale Vince, will allow his team to share a chicken drum stick with the Rovers team.keith1879 wrote:Sorry if someone else said this but....(1) Congratulations and (2) .....It just needs one more promotion (or one relegation for B******s) for Forest Green vs B******s to be a reality.

Re: Forest Green Rovers
I once took Forest Green Rovers to European Champions many years ago on Championship/Football Manager. They wouldn't let me out of the Conference until I sold my best defender to build the stadium. Always had a soft spot for them since

Re: Forest Green Rovers
To put the spending in perspective the days of every club in non league football being run on a shoestring is well wide of the mark. Some of the clubs in the Conference divisions beat clubs in Leagues 1 and 2 to the signature of players by offering better terms and wages. Some managers left sides in Leagues 1 and 2 during this last season to manage in non league. Micky Mellon left Shrewsbury in League 1 to take over at Tranmere and Martin Allen (mad dog) left League 2 Barnet to take over at Eastleigh. Funnily, Allen was doing OK at Barnet but suffered a catastrophic run of results at Eastleigh before being replaced.
Incidentally, the owner of Eastleigh has also ploughed £10m plus into the club but they are still in non league. Big spending doesn't always pay dividends. As with the football league the gulf in finance is growing as between Dover and Eastleigh who are Kent based but worlds apart in terms of finance.
Good luck to Forest Green Rovers anyway.

Re: Forest Green Rovers
Used to play against them on their original famous sloping pitch where you attacked one half and defended the other.

Re: Forest Green Rovers
Looking on their website it states that they are part of my Utility provider Ecotricity.
Sam Hamman used to run Wimbledon on similar lines I think I'm right in saying, a spot of "creative accountancy" I believe is the term in Hamman's case.
By the way we can recommend Ecotricity.

Re: Forest Green Rovers
If football was played on a level financial playing field then it would be a problem, but it's not so they don't deserve the stick. - Plus their plans for a new stadium using wood and neutral carbon (5,000 capacity with potential to upgrade to 10,000) sound noble - well done.lovebeingaclaret wrote:Think how much B******ds have spent in reaching just one league above them.
