Keano & Mee - Doubts

Post by MarkGreen » Fri May 19, 2017 1:43 pm

Keane and Mee still doubts for the final game of the season vs West Ham on Sunday.

Would have been nice to see Keano grace the pitch one last time (As a Burnley player)

No surprise there. Why risk either if they're not 100% fit, you risk losing a valuable player or large transfer fee :)

We can win £10m if we win the game, compared with the risk of losing £25m if we lose. No-brainer - if he's fit, he plays. What are the odds of Keane suffering a long-term injury in a match? In 108 games for Burnley he hasn't suffered one yet. It's not like it's a 50-50 chance whether you get a serious injury.

It's not necessarily that he gets injured but that he isn't 100% committed because he doesn't want to risk injuring himself and not getting the transfer he wants.

I doubt that. And it's not as if he makes his career out of crunching tackles, anyway. The question is, will Keane on Sunday be a better player than Kevin Long?

You'd hope he was fully committed considering his weekly wage packet. I'm sure he's made of sterner stuff than that. I'm sure this is a club decision.

I believe it was Keane's decision whether he played against Bournemouth last weekend.

I think he could have a couple of limbs amputated and still be better than Kevin Long.

Have to say it's a hell of a coincidence that as soon as we were virtually safe Keane picked up his "injury". No point risking Mee at this stage if he isn't 100%.

He didn't cover himself in glory at Bournemouth. He showed why he is 4th choice centre back. Not wanting to put him down, but if he is any where near the maychday squad next season we will have moved backwards not forwards.

I hope we play our strongest available line up. The difference in winning and not, could be a new player.

am still not fully convinced Keane will leave in the summer, probably just me though it seems from all the comments on this site and papers/tv.

SD says no bids yet, you would have thought if there were that many clubs after him, truly interested you would have thought someone would have got an early bid in.

yes he has played well but we will be by all accounts asking a lot for him and not as though we really need the money, if we had gone to the dark side then yes think he would have gone, but until its confirmed I am saying he's a Burnley player and if fit should play Sunday

I'll be a bit p1ssed of it it transpired we have signed a pre contract and a term is to not play him. We should put out our best team in every game. As has been mentioned we may well lose ten plus million by finishing lower. Plus a higher finish attracts better players.

Odd that Meeting is not being included after si h a seemingly minor knock, assuming he had a knock at all.

In other news, people recently still believed that Keane is genuinely injured

Basically he doesn't give two f**ks about the club, all hes arsed about is his next move. He cant wait to get out the door, well good riddance. To simply refuse to play is unacceptable, the club will continue to lie for him and pull the wool over the eyes of many on here.

I'm sure that it's more useful to us and SD to see Tarks and Kev in competitive action considering everyone knows that Keano was off. Tarks has been great apart from the last game. It also shows how valuable Ben is to us - long may he perform under the radar.
Fact is the deal was done in his head a while back and he still turned out performances at a high standard. He has been brilliant for us and I for one don't begrudge him the chance to become a mega player, especially when we have the opportunity to make a few bob.
Thankyou Michael Keane.

We don't have a particularly good record of players coming back quickly from 'minor' knocks.

I see lots of statements about what the state of his injury, and even whether he had a real one, but the only people who know for sure - Michael Keane, the medical staff and SD - are saying nothing. If I was MK and read things such as what KBRFC wrote I would just say, "f*** 'em!"

Didn't another poster tybfc say the same on here a week or so ago.

So that's two of our more sensible posters who have said the same so maybe something in it.

They are a great partnership so maybe someone has bid say £50M or whatever for the two of them

If Keane was ever going to rise to the occasion and show his full potential as a player worthy of a place in a top five Premier league Club, he would have done it against Manchester United recently. He didn't and that would suggest that if he leaves us, it won't be a great long term loss for us. Let's grab the cash and start cultivating the better player, Mee, for the inevitable £30m sale next season!

Tybfc, both didn't play against WBA, a game that if we had lost and Hull won meant we would have been only two points clear. That could have turned into a disaster.

Are you suggesting we took such a risk not to play them?

If Keane is going to a top four club, Mee should be heading to Madrid. Mee and the tight defensive structure makes Keane look good. Another overrated English defender, overrated because he can pass abit and a former United graduate. Get rid asap

Neither even fit enough to make the match day squad, I'm sure they were both "touch and go" weeks ago. Its pretty obvious what's happening, I hope the club are honest enough to confirm the truth.
