Top scorer. Great achievement. 10 premier league goals. Thoroughly deserved. Been a top pro for us.

Must admit I am surprised he managed to get to double figures but a great achievement from him nonetheless.

Double figure target men are hard to come by especially when he bags 1 in 2.5 starts.

Keep saying it but we score far more with him in.

Especially considering he missed pretty much all of our last trip in the prem. Most of our squad have that experience which he didn't so very well done Sam

I don't know what you must have thought about the rest if you think Vokesy did 'nowt'. For me he was easily our best player.

Did nowt ?? I thought he did plenty, particularly first half when he won countless headers and showed some nifty touches on the ground too. Excellent season and it's been good to see him rewarded with a goalscoring run the last few weeks.

I like Sam, hopefully we can ship out Barnes and Arfield to Newcastle and make ourselves stronger and a rival weaker in one swift transaction.

Vokes has had a great return goal wise this year and would be a very good third choice striker with at least one, preferably two new additions.

Gray set up the goal but what on earth was he doing for that sitter he "flicked wide". A no nonsense finisher swings his left foot at it and hits the back of the net. Gray tried some stupid flick and we go on to get beat, should have got a roasting from Dyche for that. One of the problems I'm having with Gray at the moment is he keeps playing like he thinks he's far better than he is. Apart from using strength and pace to beat a man I've rarely ever seen him get by an opponent using skill, and yet every week he runs down back alleys and rolls his foot over the ball like he thinks he's Ronaldo. He assisted the goal today so he contributed, but when you look at how Vokes has got on Gray has certainly not pulled his weight this year.

Probably an overreaction as I hate seeing us lose, but unless your 3-0 up you stick it in the onion bag before you try a clever flick and mess it up. I've since watched the replay and he should definitely score.

Think Vokes has been our best player retry consistently over the last few games - made up for him. Hopefully he will spend the summer teaching Gray how to control a football!!!

What he did at the end of today's game deserves mention too. Well done Sam. Clarets Legend :)

Before you make yourself look very foolish watch the replay. The ball came across his left foot, he could have taken it when it came across his body rather than wait for the flick.

the stream I was on showed it from the touchline. Defo to far behind him to wrap his left foot around it.

If you honestly think he couldn't reach it with his left foot, how did he reach it with his left foot when it was behind him? The ball came right across his body.

Really pleased for Sam, he deserves this. It must have been so tough to miss out last time round so it's great to see him make the most of it now. I hope it gives him the confidence he needs in order to kick on next season.

He's had better games than he had today - usually when Gray isn't in the team as they're not a natural partnership - but he's a top player for us.

He'll be a key player next season, and if Gray does leave, then the priority should be someone who can be a foil for Vokes rather than someone to replace Gray per se.

Its weird how we've for this thread applauding one of our players scoring 10 goals in a team that's got it's limits and another one berating a player who got 9 in the same team.

Never ceases to amuse me this forum.

Just watch the replay, he's facing the ball (ish) the natural movement of the left foot in that position is to strike across it, hit it in the right spot it soars in. I have no problem if he scores the flick, but you'd be slaughtered for trying that and not scoring.

It's been his control and passing that's impressed me as it's got considerably better in the last couple of seasons. I know that he's always had decent feet but they seem to have got better.

In the first half he brought a ball down, controlled it and flicked it over the defence for Gray to run on to but Gray was brought down.

He'll never be prolific at this level but he's come a long way.

I enjoy watching Vokes a fantastic return in this league as stated already.I just think he is isolated along with Gray sometimes as we struggle to get them the service they need. For me we have missed Dean Marney big time and the leadership of Barton.
Well done Vokesy...

I was pleased with his performance at Bournemouth, in that game he looked to have gone up a gear and found a bit more pace. Well done to Sam, he's had a good season.

Vokes is 27. He has had a great Season for us and, if he stays injury free and keeps developing, then his best years are still in front of him.

If he had the minutes on the pitch he deserved he would have not could have had more goals.

He will score at Chelsea!

Minute for minute he scored more than Andre too.
Andre scored 1 every 251 minutes.
Sam scored 1 every 207 minutes.

Compared to one or two others:
Troy Deeney scored 1 every 295 minutes.
Defoe scored 1 every 221 minutes.
Benteke scored 1 every 196 minutes.

If Sam he'd been ever present he'd have scored 16/17 if he'd carried on scoring at the same rate which would have put him in the top ten highest scorers alongside Zlatan and Eden Hazard.

And now Vokes has goals in FOUR consecutive top-flight games. Who was the last Claret to achieve that?
