Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
it was just a lot of youngsters, probably some kind of thing going round shools to get on the pitch, no harm was done.
Bloody hell, even if it was delaying the team coming out, we stayed up ! the game has beome so sanitised, what's wrong with letting off a bit of steam on the last day?

Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
"what's wrong with letting off a bit of steam on the last day?"
Three good reasons :-
1. There are signs on the perimeter walls advising that it's an offence to enter the field of play.
2. The club reinforced this point by announcing that fans must not run onto the pitch.
3. It spoils the enjoyment for the majority of the law abiding fans.
There are probably more reasons, but I honestly can't be ar$ed trying to convince
people who think it's ok to ignore rules and regulations for their own selfish gratification.
It's anarchy I tell you, that's what it is.

Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
i suspect irony funkydrummer, but if not.... most law abiding fans had ******* off and left the place looking like a morgue.
I felt embarrassed about that! Dyche leads his team out onto a pitch with about an 1/8th of those fans left in the stands.
We have just survived in the premier league, and it was treated with apathy.
So what ? some estatic fans needed to express their emotion by just doing something, months of passively sat in plastic seats, anonymous , suddenly the urge to **** about a bit took over. I have no problem with that. A few selfies, no violence, what is the problem ?

Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
Does anyone believe the players would have done their much deserved lap of honour straight after the full time whilst? They go back to the changing room to get cleaned up, join players who have not played and then meet their kids.
After most rugby matches fans come, during the interval at cricket and at the end of a cricket match people go on the pitch other the square.
I did not go on this season, or last, but don't bemoan people who do-it makes very little difference. People who go every week left at full time probably not appreciating what the players have done this season which is worst than a few kids + bfccrazy going on the grass

Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
I left just before the final whistle. I knew there would be an interruption between the match finishing and the Players coming out for a lap of honour and I had a bus to catch. With it being a Sunday, there wasn't one until an hour later.
Decision made.

Bloody hell your'e right! I have been a long standing, fan a ST holder and go on every game, but didn't stay yesterday after the final whistle. I didn't appreciate what the players have done this season! It's just dawned on me that I against the odds, they have surpassed expectations and managed to keep Burnley FC in the Prem.
Next season I might not bother going on until the final game and then if they manage to repeat the same great feat, I will stay behind and applaud more. That'll make me a proper fan.

We stayed until the end of our end of season lap of honour..I am glad we did, thank the players wave goodbye to Keane and so on..
The West Ham fans had a decent take on it which amused me..
...'school in the morning..
you've got school in the morning..'
- followed by..'Burnley's a shiithole, I wanna go home..'

Apologies 3putt I did not mean it to come across as a dig at the fans who did not stay behind.

I was pleased with him too. I know it's a shame to spoil the fun of people who like playing with beach balls, but bearing in mind that it could have come on to the pitch and cost us a goal worth (at that time) potentially £9m, I think it was worth the pop.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:The steward in front of the jimmy Mac who popped the big football was most pleased with himself!

I was pleased as well. One of our players could have slipped on it and injured themselves for the full 2017/18 season.dsr wrote:I was pleased with him too. I don't recall people whinging about pitch invasions in 87 or at York in 92 or at Scunthorpe.

I left at the full time whistle as I couldn't be arsed waiting for them to clear the pitch and I had to drive back to Leeds, decision made. Also it annoys the hell out of me why the players have to wheel their kids out with them? No need whatsoever for them to be out there.

To think in the Championship we had games were stewards were lining up the side of the CFS and longside and even the Bob Lord, but yesterday!

That wasn't done with the intention of depriving thousands of other people of their chance to celebrate. That was spontaneous, not calculated.Juan Tanamera wrote:Maybe it wasn't illegal back then.
Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
No big deal was it? Mostly kids having fun. No doubt some of the complainers will be going on about the lack of atmosphere at games. The thing is, it's the slightly oiled, slightly daft, the singers and the young kids that create the atmosphere. Probably the types who ran onto the pitch. Often though they are the target of the moaners. I don't think you can have it both ways.

I didn't say it was.
I'm saying it is now illegal, a bit like using a mobile phone whilst driving.
People still do it just for the hell of it.

Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
Doesn't really matter who went on the pitch...when you think about it. Kids enjoying themselves.
Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
It matters. You may which to teach your kids to have no respect either for the law, or for other people. Does it matter to you if your kids behave like little hooligans and do exactly what they want, regardless of the effect on other people's enjoyment? Presumably not. But it should, if you have kids.tim_noone wrote:Doesn't really matter who went on the pitch...when you think about it. Kids enjoying themselves.

I went on the pitch at Charlton, bloke behind me apparently got grabbed by the stewards trying to follow.
I hadn't done it since York '92 to be fair though!

The first thing I noticed at the back of the longside when I first started to go in the late 80s was a sign that said 'swearing in a sports ground is illegal'.Juan Tanamera wrote:Maybe it wasn't illegal back then.
Not many people took notice then and have continued to defy ever since.

So why was your 9 year old grandson, with his grandfather's permission, helping to delay the Sean Dyche lap of honour to the extent that thousands of people had left before it happened? Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
Has there ever been a last home game of the season where supporters HAVEN'T ran onto the pitch? It has been happening since time immemorial as far as I can see.
Therefore if you are attending the last home game of the season and wish to see the lap of honour then maybe factor the kids running onto the pitch and then the useless stewards clearing the pitch to allow the players back on into your timings?

I stayed for the lap of honour, and because the roads were much quieter, got home just 15 minutes later than usual.
Hope those who had to rush off made really good use of all that precious time they saved by not staying to applaud our team.

Re: Those of you who ran onto the pitch
I guess Ill join the get a life brigade, I too went on the pitch in the 70 ,80 Even when the fence was there went though the gate.
But on Sunday delayed the players coming on and although i stayed to watch had to leave before it finished to get home.
They were asked not to do so its wrong to do it now as it was when I did it, but the world has changed and when stewards ask you not to do something but you encourage your children to ignore it sends a poor message to them.
In the last season when we played sheffield wednesday I was talking to a steward who was trying to keep the yellow walk ways clear and he said of all the grounds in the country there are good reasons to obey requests. Given some numty ran in front of west ham fans gesturing at them. It could have got out of hand if 20 or 30 west ham fans also ran on, or if heaven for bid another problem had occurred with stewards and police out of position.
