A low-key, costly defeat, hard to understand really.
Were their minds on the job?

Not hard to understand - at the end of the day West Ham were better than us.

My daughter said that we wouldn't have played like that had it been more important. I still naively believe they're all important.

They won the second half. I'm just thankful we weren't relying on the last game to get some sort of result to stay up.

If we'd needed to win, I bet we would have.

Was Boyd injured? I was thinking he might have been dropped because he wont sign the offered contract. Didn't celebrate with the rest of the players at the end - just walked around with his kids and he looked miserable

For £35k a week I expect the players to sweat blood every single match regardless of importance. We shouldn't be thinking that if the match had been important to our survival that they would have played better.

Disappointing End a bit of an understatement for me but totally agree with the "great season". My expectations were higher, maybe euphoria had crept in regarding where we could finish with all those permutations on the last day

Good job the points were in the bag. Minus 3 key midfielders plus Boyd, no Keane or Mee. Defour out of favour and no doubt out the door. :( We got there, that's the main thing.

Fingers and toes crossed that we land most of our targets in the summer.

Can't ever be more than just a disappointing end given what we've achieved.

that's very true. Difficult one for Dyche, with his standard capturing maximum efforts as a minimum. Well done to the players, so how do you berate them? For me a lesson for the Board, and given the values on offer for placement, at least half a (stay up) performance bonus could derive from the position earned from say 6 games out..... with a serious amount of money on the line yesterday that the players could get an earner from, my bet would have been a different scoreline

It highlighted the shortcomings of Andre Gray at this level. We should have had 4 goals and buried them by half time.

Completely unrealistic to expect that every chance or half chance should result in a goal.

I just couldn't help wondering whether futures had already been decided and shared. Those staying KNEW they were staying and those leaving KNEW they were going and so nobody had anything to prove. Just not get hurt and jog off. But it WAS very disappointing (and very costly too)

It was a dreadful game, they gave less of a toss about it in the first half than we did, we missed our chances, they were better than us in the second half and scored a fluky winner

I was ****** off watching the game as I couldn't believe how poor we were - then I calmed down and realised that 90% of our team are Championship players that have somehow managed to up their game enough to get the club enough points to have another crack at it next season.

Summer will be massive for us

Boiledclaret "minus 3 key midfielders"
Make that 4 - Joey might have kept us at it just as he did at half-time at Charlton. We lack leadership on the field from someone of strong character who can pull the team through.

Exactly what I was thinking over the last couple of games. We need a general,a bully if you like. It was his influence and drive that got us over the line last season.

Couldn't agree more, we said on Sunday during the second half that we wouldn't be losing with Joey on the pitch but I do think that we'd have been a good number of positions further up the league had Keane & Mee not been injured.

Haven't we conceded two goals in every game they've both missed? Agree on the loss of Barton's leadership, with those three in the side it probably would have been another plucky 1-0 home win.

Agreed. The back ups we have at CB look very sketchy in comparison to what we're used to and it worried me re next season.

I think Long is more of a problem than Tarkowski. Against Palace, JT looked very good in place of Mee.

I agree with that. I was there and he played well alongside Keane, but after that with Long as his partner he really looked to struggle.
