Spijed, with all the respect in the world, had we not won away at Palace then we wouldn't have survived easily (if you can call it that). Dyche has worked wonders as I already stated, but I think to say we survived easily is way off the mark (just my opinion though)

Re: Big Sam leaving Crystal Palace
If Sean gets it that's one relegation place filled - and not by us.
They have no decent defenders and his framework may be hard to achieve with all of their flair players. It would take him time to transform it. Sam just kept them up by virtue of beating the top sides late on - and he is the best in the business at that.
It may seem bad for us, but if he goes, he goes, just make sure it isn't July 31st.
I'd choose to keep him obviously, just think we are an attractive proposition at the mo.

But we did win at Palace AND we did survive easily. We were never in the bottom three and always had a gap of 5-10 Pts throughout the season. That suggests that we were never really in trouble of getting relegated. Aside from losing at home to the big teams we won ALL the home matches we had to.Vegas Claret wrote:Spijed, with all the respect in the world, had we not won away at Palace then we wouldn't have survived easily (if you can call it that). I guess it's the definition of "easily" then I'd say Bournemouth survived easily, we survived
Either way, we survived and that's all that counts !

Really? I thought he was crap at Liverpool and Bastards. Inter Milan were glad to get shut. WBA fans were delighted he took the England job.
Granted he did very well at Fulham as well as Clubs in Switzerland and Sweden.
International management he did ok with average countries England inc.
He's getting on a bit as well, I hope Palace snap him up.

Will br someone like marco silva who gets it

All the write-ups in the papers etc. suggested we survived with something to spare. That suggests we were never considered to be in any danger.Vegas Claret wrote:I guess it's the definition of "easily" then I'd say Bournemouth survived easily, we survived

Still, I guessed there'd be some who are looking to find even the smallest negative from this season, oh well.

I think the only people worried about going down when we went past thirty points in Jan were Burnley fans.

Re: Big Sam leaving Crystal Palace
Cannot blame Sam walking away for family reasons, he doesn't need the money he should enjoy life without all the crap that comes with being a football manager all the dogs abuse they receive etc.
As for Burnley easily surviving in the Premier league I believe they did, with 6-7 games to go the bottom 3-4 were always playing catch up, there results had to better ours and only the Swans did that, however next season we really do need a bit of Oooomph in the squad and where that will come from who knows.

Re: Big Sam leaving Crystal Palace
I think if Palace had come up the same time next season it would have been a good time for SD and possibly Burnley to part ways. The reason being by then he'd have got the club further down the road to fulfilling his ambition for the development of the club and he would be looking at possibly a major rebuild of the squad with a view to establishing Burnley as a safe upper mid table team. That for me will be the time for SD to look at where the club want to go next and for the board to ask is SD right for the next step (remember the night of the long knives at the end of Stan's time - not more than a couple of fans had even considered Stan not being our manager when suddenly he was gone.).

And now they have moved on to being convinced we will be relegated next season. Wait while the transfer window opens for the next level of moaning to begin. Every single player linked to us will have the same oddball anti Burnley / anti Board members putting down any player mentioned.

If we sign the player he will be put down. If he goes to another club this "no vision" Board of Directors will be put down.
Re: Big Sam leaving Crystal Palace
My only concern at present is that most of the rumours seem to be about our players leaving. Will be happier when I start seeing some movement the other wayclaretdom wrote:And now they have moved on to being convinced we will be relegated next season. So, basically, after four seasons when our club has improved dramatically you continue to aim digs at both club and manager. I think you'd have to be pretty damn thick to think we don't have a scouting network to be honest and given we've just finished with 40 points I would think our chances of staying up next season, as tough as it may be, will be considerably higher than zeor.

Get over yourself Spijed, there is no secret agenda, we survived, imho we didn't survive easily but that is no reason to have a dig when I'd also stated how well we and Dyche had done. Re: Big Sam leaving Crystal Palace
I would say 6 points with a significantly better goal difference than the team in 18th place suggests we did survive easily, that we survived with two games still to play also suggests the same.Vegas Claret wrote:Get over yourself Spijed, there is no secret agenda, we survived, imho we didn't survive easily but that is no reason to have a dig when I'd also stated how well we and Dyche had done. Re: Big Sam leaving Crystal Palace
great, you have a different opinion and that's fine. Too many folk on here have digs and get abusive because of a difference in opinion when there really is no need, I doubt very very much anyone would speak to each other this way if we were having face to face conversations.

Re: Big Sam leaving Crystal Palace
I wouldn't say from stoke downwards on 44 pts that anybody survived the season easily even palace who finished on 41pts above us only managed to secure there status second to the last game. It was more a case of week in & week out looking over our shoulders & wanting the likes of Swansea hull etc to lose the GD was always a factor as well.

We ended up 6 points clear of 3rd bottom...6 points the other way would have seen us finish in 8th...just saying
