I'd completely forgotten about this. I assume the club is reasonably confident of a favourable outcome since they signed him.

Re: Jeff Hendrick
If that was a possibility I don't think we'd have shelled out an 8 figure fee for him.
I sincerely hope not anyway.

Re: Jeff Hendrick
The 8 figure fee helped us net a 9 figure fee so maybe the club were just prepared to take the risk, whether he's sent down or not.MiltonKeynesClaret93 wrote:If that was a possibility I don't think we'd have shelled out an 8 figure fee for him.

No previous. Good character. Etc.
Suspended sentence at worse.
Most likely a fine and damages.

Those quotes refer to June 6th 2016, his trial was set for July 3rd 2017 at that appearance.LoveCurryPies wrote:Next court appearance June 6th according to various newspaper sites

A person I know was done for violent disorder and absolutely NO PUNCHES were thrown.....it's just that violence would have taken place if not for police intervention.
He got around 4 years in prison I believe...

where is it reported that he '...never threw a punch...' Minnie?minnieclaret wrote:http://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-an ... -1.2626730

Re: Jeff Hendrick
So reading that article.....the victim was dragged out of the taxi by Hendrick, then followed and attacked by someone else. With Hendrick being the one to start it by dragging the victim out of the car I think he will be going to prison.....they really hit people hard for violent disorder these days....minnieclaret wrote:http://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-an ... -1.2626730

Re: Jeff Hendrick
I think Minnie is assuming that because Hendricks buddy is also charged with 'assault causing harm' and Hendrick doesn't face that charge.....that Hendrick didn't throw a punch and his buddy was the one who attacked the victim....but they will definitely take into consideration that Hendrick started it by dragging the victim out of the taxi in the first place IMOclaretblue wrote:where is it reported that he '...never threw a punch...' Re: Jeff Hendrick
I have read in another article that it was his buddy who did the damage. Unfortunately I can't find it.
If every ruck ended in gaol time the prisons would be full! oh! hang on.
The guy who's done the damage has a greater risk of prison but in Ireland I'd be surprised.
Compo and good behaviour for 2years for me. That's not what I would give them.

Re: Jeff Hendrick
How do they treat them in EIRE, where the offence took place and where he will be tried?COYC73 wrote:So reading that article.....the victim was dragged out of the taxi by Hendrick, then followed and attacked by someone else. Just curious as I'm guessing your experience is with UK courts, not EIRE.
Re: Jeff Hendrick
That's how it will play out, video on the screen of his heroics during Euro 2016, get them bouncing in court, no jury in Ireland will convict him. As Garners says, even he could get him off.Garnerssoap wrote:Euro 2016 Irish hero

Yeah, I've no idea if Violent Disorder will be dealt with in the same way or a different manner in Ireland....Sidney1st wrote:How do they treat them in EIRE, where the offence took place and where he will be tried?

Was basing my thoughts on UK courts as you rightly pointed out, could be completely different over there

The jury may be 'directed' by the judge. Assume club understood the likely outcome before shelling out...

Jeff took a big risk coming to us with this hanging over cos we all know how the world is against little old Burnley and even if the jury dont think he's guilty they will probably give him a couple of years just to spite us

Isn't this case in Ireland? Don't Burnley provide 4/11th of the current Ireland team - of which Jeff is one?Devils_Advocate wrote:Jeff took a big risk coming to us with this hanging over cos we all know how the world is against little old Burnley and even if the jury dont think he's guilty they will probably give him a couple of years just to spite us

But the whole world is against Burnley. Have you forgotten about the way Gray and Barton were treated just because they were playing for us and remember all those nasty pundits and biased referee's.
Mark my words if it goes to trial whilst he is a Burnley player his days as a free man are numbered
