Re: Dyche ------->Palace
If Palace don't want Hodgson Sean Dyche would be a long odds on favourite for the post with Woy out of the equation.
If Garlick fails to convince Sean to stay hopefully he will have some suitable candidates in mind.

Hodgson has achieved much more in club management than Dyche has or is ever likely to. Getting Fulham to the Uefa cup final not that long ago? Managing Inter Milan?dsr wrote:Possibly because they can't get Dyche?

It's all rubbish.
The Palace Manager market is so small, you could fart in it's general directions and the odds would change.
We get linked with Hodgson whenever we're looking to get a new manager in because he came from our youth team all those millennia ago.

The betting market is crazy SD now 11/4 ON with Paddy Power.
Either somebody stuck £50 on SD or PP think they know something is happening.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Dyce has been an excellent manager there is no doubt about that. However the Chairman should ascertain from SD whether or not there is any truth in these rumours and if so the Chairman should accept this as SD's notice in lieu. That would certainly concentrate minds.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
I don't see why SD should have to openly deny media stories that have no substance. In football these happen practically every hour, never mind each day. They escalate in the silly season, between the end of season and the opening of the transfer window. Papers get filled with crap all the time, it would be tiresome to have to react to each one. I'm sure SD and the board take it with a pinch of salt. It's only some of the fans who PANIC.......

Another thing I don't get. The requirement to "interview" for a manager's job. Haven't these guys already had everything done to them except have their butt hole examined by your national media already?

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Hi Ontario, really? If I was ever in the position of appointing a football manager I'd want a very deep and detailed conversation with him (or her) before I'd make the appointment. I'd want to know what had been going on "behind the scenes" in a club when the manager did X or Y. Was a player injured when the manager left him out of the team? or was something else going on? How does the manager handle all the "not in the public domain" stuff? How good are his "support staff." What does he see as the opportunities and challenges for "my" team? Does he have the ambition that we want from our manager?ontario claret wrote:Another thing I don't get. The requirement to "interview" for a manager's job. I'm sure there are great journalists who can find out a few things. But, managers and clubs have their own PR/agents - and the ability to spin. And, what the journalists report will also be based on what the customers will "want to buy" and what will grow the revenue of the media outlet. (Which is why all these "rumours" are reported).
So, Sean may need to work on his powerpoints and check that he can still touch his toes...

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
there'd be nothing wrong with a press conference whereby sean dyche states categorically that he is committed to Burnley FC.
The club are well aware of the debates and doubts, for the forthcoming season, and with loyalty being a virtue in the minds of football supporters, it would be a worthy gesture to kick start the pre season optimism.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
There would be something wrong with it - he'd be lying. Just like Michael Keane, he's committed to Burnley only until a job he likes better comes along. There are various reasons why that won't be Crystal Palace, but he isn't committed. If Barcelona offer him the manager's job, he'll go; if Elgin City offer him the job, he won't; but somewhere between those impossible extremes, there are jobs he would take. Our hope is that there aren't many of them, and he won't be offered them.Wile E Coyote wrote:there'd be nothing wrong with a press conference whereby sean dyche states categorically that he is committed to Burnley FC.

From what I can gather, I don't think Dyche is even in the country at the moment (still on holiday with his family in the States) so I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't had any direct contact with Palace.SE25 wrote:From what I was told today, Palace haven't even spoke to Dyche, just inquired through his agent to see if he would be interested.

Pellegrino is understood to still be in talks with the Selhurst Park outfit as they look to narrow their search to a final two. Sean Dyche and Roger Schmidt have also been spoken to, while former Saint-Etienne manager Christophe Galtier is also thought to be in London with a view to talking to the club.

Re: Dyche ------->Palace
Betfair exchange odds are an even worse indicator than bookies odds when there is so little money in the market. It only takes one random person to offer silly odds and that becomes the line.
