Re: Who are you
on a slightly serious note, you'd think with the economy, jobs, NHS, Police, terrorism, all manner of social injustice, taxation, benefit eligibility, care provision , social welfare reform, crime, education, tuition fees, school meals, there would be enough there to provoke debate and anger, but no !
Pig **** british electorate will yet again display ludicrous apathy when it comes to turning out to vote.
disgusting really, millions of eligible adult voters will not venture out tomorrow.
We are fairly thick as a nation, no wonder the place is a mess.

Final opinion polls
PDF links won't be renamed.
ComRes - Weighted normally and by likelihood to vote.
Conservative - 44%
Labour - 34%
Very high turnout suggested.
http://www.comresglobal.com/wp-content/ ... 130392.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
YouGov - Weighted normall and by likelihood to vote. Undecideds with high likelihood to vote allocated by their 2015 vote or something.
Conservative - 42%
Labour - 35%
Turnout figures on this one suggest an extremely high turnout for all age groups, 65+ inparticular.
https://d25d2506sfb94s.cloudfront.net/c ... 2017_W.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Survation - Weighted normally & by likelihood to vote
Conservative - 34.5%
Labour - 33.5%
Wishy-washy ***** who can't make up their ******* mind already - 10.7%
Refused (to answer) - 6.3%
The headline figures are showing both Labour and Tories with about 40% and 41% but they're not weighted by the apparent likelihood to vote and they omit undecideds and refusals. It might end up being about right but if it's not then it'll be because undecideds were largely leaning one way or another. I'd imagine the incumbents would be more likely to receive an undecided's vote but who the **** knows anything anymore?
Also noteworthy is that Survation have very high figures for each age group who intend to vote. 68% for 18-24 to over 90% for 65+. These both seem unlikely but they are at least roughly in line with turnout in the referendum. Much higher than the last GE though.
http://survation.com/wp-content/uploads ... d7l9l8.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Up The Clarets voting model - Conservative seats
Up the Clarets can project that Conservatives will win 359.357142857115 seats.
Methodology. Rolled 7 100-sided dice and multiplied the mean average by 6.5 to simulate 6.5 dice to replicate the 650 seats in commons.
Margin of error +/- eleventy seven
I'll add more polls as i can be bothered

I have and i will, later. I'm hopeful but pessimistic about our chances of keep the Tories from being able to further destroy our public services. But one thing i'm optimistic about is that at least one group of people will be having a meltdown and i intend to be wide awake tonight to enjoy the chaos.

General Election 2017 Mega Thread
Might make sense to have one massive merged thread for the GE otherwise the board will be a pain in the arse.
Voting after work as I left the house at 6.30am. Going Labour, hopefully be enough Labour votes to keep Cons out of Heywood and Middleton. UKIP did well last GE and it was a heavy BREXIT area.

In my polling station this morning it was very busy, the staff noted that it has never been as busy before when I asked them about it. Hopefully a good turnout as a lot depends upon the results of this election.

Lifetime Lib Dem, tactically voting for Labour in Fleetwood and Lancaster.
I don't want to vote for either, but I see Lab as at least offering a change to the current situation. And almost all the UKIP vote will go Conservative, so I have to vote against that.

FAO Tory voters everywhere
Remember to sign your ballots in case of any funny business once polls have closed. You're going to want to be able to prove which party you voted for in the event of irregularities.
Labour voters, you don't need to do this.

Hi Lancaster, as a LIB Dem do you think the party picked the wrong man to lead them?
Had I been a Lib Dem my vote would have gone to Norman Lamb and of course the best leader you haven't had IMO is Vince Cable IMO

Who ever it was was on a hiding to nothing. It's not Tim Farron's fault what has happened to them. That said if i has a choice between him and Corbyn with policies being equal i'd still choose Corbyn simply because he's a better person.
It'll be decades before the Lib Dems recover from their coalition government. Whey were building a strong voter bas from the youth up. Each election they were growing their voter base in the youngest demographics and keeping them as they got older. And then with the coalition government they completely let them down and gave them reason to think that the Lib Dems were no different to the others when it comes to making promises. Now they have to start all over again, and none of that is Farron's fault as leader.

Re: General Election 2017 Mega Thread
No, the best leader they could have had was Nick Clegg, but he couldn't continue after the election.
Farron was the best of what was left, but they need to win some seats this time around. Of course, there is a danger that they might lose all their seats in England, which would be a disaster.
They haven't recovered from getting the blame for all coalition policies, while not getting the credit for the ones that worked.
I'm not a big believer in that the media have too much power, but I suspect that I believe a bit too much in my fellow men (and women) actually checking the stuff they read.
I don't want to vote Labour, I really don't, but last time the Lib Dems got less than 2000 votes up here. Its a wasted vote and I don't want the Conservatives to win (the leap to the right to get UKIP on side is complete no-no for me. Anything is better than that)

I remember how much help a Conservative government gave Burnley last time, and I just feel a bit sad that it won't get any better for the area.

Unfortunately the choice isn't he best, however voting in corbyn with brexit on the horizon is a recipe for absolute disaster. The man is genuinely dangerous to the country.
It's better to appeal to those on the right than the left when the economic future is a little precarious, at least they produce rather than take.

If everybody who voted last time, voted again and all voted for one party that were not Conservative, you would still need another 2000 people from somewhere to oust the Conservatives.

Re: General Election 2017 Mega Thread
Of course the police are going to say that they need more (I don't dispute that they do). I'm not convinced that more police would have prevented a single one of the recent attacks, whilst increased budget for our security services (which has been increased, I believe) does help to stop attacks.
As things stand I'd want more funding given to our security services than police.

He's got some very outrageous views in fact hasn't he been under MI5 surveillance for the past 30 years because of his views?
Do you genuinely believe that the cut in the number of police has actually contributed to the recent attacks? Do you not think that the mass migration and us taking in the rubbish the rest of the world don't want hasn't contributed to it?
