Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool - paying wages up to £150k a week and transfer fees up to £50m / £60m

Everton, West Ham, Southampton, Leicester, Stoke, Palace possibly couple of others - wages up to £100k and transfer fees up to £35m / £40m

Burnley, Huddersfield, (previously Hull, Norwich etc) - wages up to £50k and transfer fees of possibly up to £20m / £25m.

Total wage bills of clubs would reflect these splits - top clubs with wage bills of £250m plus with likes of Burnley £50m. Total turnover / income of clubs would have similar differences.

If we sign Taylor I would be chuffed to bits. He's a VERY good left back - better than Ward.

I notice there's an article on Sky Sports about Callum Chambers, saying he's fallen behind Rob Holding in the pecking order at Arsenal; plus he's up against Koscienly, Mustafi, Gabriel and Mertesecker. I thought Chambers played well against us last season and by all accounts he had a very solid season at centre half with Ben Gibson at Boro. Lets be honest, their defensive record was very good. Is he a player we should be looking at to replace Keane (if he leaves!)? He's young and English so his value will be high but I think he's got a bright future if he gets the right move.

So not a rumour then?

I think he will want a hell of a lot of money to leave arsenal, and also the fee would probably be too much IMO.
Could see him at a mid table side.

Just got a txt off Fotmob, basically rehashing a story in the Sun yesterday about James McCarthy and Michael Keane in a player plus cash swap. Don't hold much stock in either to be honest.

Sam Clucas is set to join the list of players to quit Hull this summer following their relegation. Leicester, Burnley and Swansea are locked in a three-way fight for the midfielder.
Newcastle and Burnley are battling it out to sign England Under-20 World Cup winner Sheyi Ojo on loan. Liverpool winger Ojo helped the Young Lions lift the nation's first world title since 1966 this month in South Korea.

Taylor looks certain.
Assombalonga on the cards.
Stewart Downing being touted but no substance as yet.
Gray swap for Shane Long mentioned.
Nahki Wells for £8m?

Looks like Gray is on the move, as he won't sign extension.

Wells is dog sh1t,
Downing past it,
The rest is plausible.

If we pay 8m for Wells I will not be impressed.

I keep seeing that Marc Roberts from Barnsley coming up, but now I've seen his details I'm a bit underwhelmed. He's only played League football for about 2 years (1 in League One) and he's 27 in July. That suggests he may have just had a decent season rather than be a class player.

Downing also allegedly on 70k a week, and at his age (32) has no sell on value, not one we should be looking at,Wells i am very meh about as well.

To be fair, so had Jamie Vardy before he played in the premier league and he was a similar age. Both were Championship though.

Good player is Nahki Wells, Id have him here in a flash. Pacey, direct and has been lethal infront of goal throughout his career. Last year at Huddersfield he played a wide role I believe.

And who of ours WASN'T when in the Championship?

Different ballgame now.

I'm sure if he was on our team, you'd be slagging him off to high heaven though.

I don't think Vokes or Barnes have had pace at any point in their career, I'm not sure how changing divisions changes your physical attributes. Do players become faster once they gain promotion? You say I slag off the players but I was actually sticking up for Gray as usual Yesterday and on todays Boyd leaving thread I said its the wrong decision.

From the Daily Mirror, (per Sporting Life "Paper Talk"):

Burnley boss Sean Dyche wants Nottingham Forest forward Britt Assombalonga as Andre Gray's replacement.

Charlie Taylor has agreed to join Burnley from Leeds on a free transfer.

New Hull manager Leonid Slutsky is prepared to cash in on Andy Robertson to fund his post-relegation rebuilding work.

Not totally convinced by Wells but relaxed about Gray leaving, we should be able to get decent money. We need a couple of forwards really, imagine Vokes, Barnes, Assombalonga and Niasse. I'd be very happy with that as an upgraded front line.

Latest rumour is we have bid £3m for 33 year old Jon Walters. Did score a cracker against us last season, but getting on a bit now.

I see the Walters one as more a squad signing, bringing in an experienced pro who has played the last 7 or so years at the top level. Not only that he's a player who can fill a few different positions if need be.

I see Dyche's transfer policy as one which incorporates more than obvious First XI players, now we have a bit more cash we can get some players in who will offer as much in terms of support and experience for our other players.

Most likely to be Barnes i would think, seems strange to be splashing 3 million on a 33 year old who offers us what we already have :? .

If we bought Walters and sold either Barnes or Vokes then WE WOULD be relegated without doubt and it would be a seriously stupid move.

Thanks BennyD for completely failing to explain why my post was not justified. So you think we should take on a 33 year old who can't regularly play for Stoke and who doesn't score much and instead replace either our top goal scorer from last season Vokes or replace Barnes who scared most defenders to death last season. Vokes and Barnes were vital to our survival last season and I can't for the life of me see what Walters would improve on either of them. So I suspect SD will read your post and throw himself under a bus.

I don't have to explain why I didn't justify your post. If Walters is good enough for SD then he is good enough for me despite what you say. When you have SDs management record, THEN I'll listen to you. Until then, as far as I'm concerned, your opinion is worth two tenths of the square-root of f*ck all.
