Claret Incoming Rumours
Are there any except Delph?
Can't find much on the internet

Re: Claret Incoming Rumours
No, even Delph isn't a rumour with any substance. Nothing will happen until we get our new manager

Unfortunately, it's fairly quiet on the football front at the moment. It's worse of you're a fan of US sports like basketball or American football. The off-season for those is some 6 months

I'm not expecting anything pretty soon - last year we had one signing in before the players returned to training. Maybe there won't be any this year.Lancasterclaret wrote:Not a lot out there.

How selfish of the majority of people involved in football to go off on holiday now the season is finished. Shirkers one and all, no thought whatsoever for us gossip starved fans

Doubt anything there will change things. The recruitment team will have already been working on potential signings. Should the manager leave we would have to bring someone in who would be able to work with the existing playing staff.Murger wrote:Won't get busy til we know what's happening with Dyche?

There is no way we will continue to trying to sign players without a manager being in situ.

We did that with David Jones four years ago. He'd done the entire pre-season with us but didn't sign until two days before the opening day.minnieclaret wrote:we won't pay wages until we need to. August for the first signing.
These days we are just sensible in trying to get the best deal for the club, the Jeff Hendrick signing being a good example in that we got him for a lot less than we'd have had to pay a couple of weeks earlier.

I'ed say they were blessed if they had six months off season in the states, I would happily accept twelve months break every year from those sports.IndigoLake wrote:Unfortunately, it's fairly quiet on the football front at the moment. I'd guess you can only do this with out of contract players? Unless the selling club is willing to let them go on "trial".ClaretTony wrote:We did that with David Jones four years ago. We will just have to give any new signings the benefit of the doubt for a season until they have a Dyche pre season.

If it means bringing in a key player over another rival prem team, they will pay his wages from tomorrow.

Re: Claret Incoming Rumours
Whether achievable or not, the aim will be to get them in as soon as possible. Didn't Dyche make reference to the late arrivals not being ideal?
It's likely a bit of balancing risk. Do you hold on and hope to save a couple of million on a signing, or accept a higher price because of the benefits of having players in ahead of pre-season, and the benefits that brings (potentially far more valuable than the cost of the increased transfer fee).

When contracts end?
Do they end at season end so Boyd is now "out of contract" or doe it run to the end of a month e.g. End of June?

Absolutely bang on. We should be looking to do as much business as possible as early as possible.DCWat wrote:Whether achievable or not, the aim will be to get them in as soon as possible. Didn't Dyche make reference to the late arrivals not being ideal?

Every point in the premier league can earn you millions, aa we saw at the end of last season. If having players in early can secure you extra points it is a no brainer.

Re: Claret Incoming Rumours
Were in a different market now. Lads in League 2 need to get fixed up early to be able to pay the bills. Likewise clubs at lower levels often need to bring cash in over the summer simply to keep running. I suspect our main business will be done on deadline day.

Look on the bright side, baseball's in full swing. (Pun intended.) And the Brewers top their division, well on the way to winning my £10 at 150-1 to win the World Series.IndigoLake wrote:Unfortunately, it's fairly quiet on the football front at the moment. Not really. The only thing in Hull that that turns as slowly and awkwardly as Huddlestone is the ferry to Rotterdam.FCBurnley wrote:looks like Delph to Newcastle for 12 mill. Anybody fancy Huddlestone at 2 mill from Hull ?
If we're shopping at Hull - and I hope we are - then Clucas is the midfielder who fits the bill.

Haha, I'll be honest...I know nothing about baseball. However I am going to NYC next month so I have the chance to see a game. I did see a game when I was in Japan and quite enjoyed it but it was really hot that day.dsr wrote:Look on the bright side, baseball's in full swing. (Pun intended.) I never thought of that. I assumed it was coming in as part of the tarting up now we're a category 2 joint, but you're probably correct, part of a new training schedule. (Won't make any difference mind. he still won't be able to trap it!)
