The Press
The press make me sick. One man whos family were in the fire have been accounted for in hospital.
The media had published their names and pictures as deceased.
Why is everyone so desperate to publish news before facts?
He still has one member of family missing. A young kid. Truly heartbreaking. In all the tragedies we have seen lately some of the footage of this is the most harrowing.

Re: The Press
When the first bridge attack occurred in London, there was social media footage that clearly shows a woman run up to a person on the ground and start filming them on her mobile phone. Is that our first thought/response? Of course, the person who had filmed her had also done the same thing.
I agree, there does seem to be a media race to publish the names and images of victims. But maybe we the general public are equally as bad.

Re: The Press
Its just been on skynews now. They interviewed a man who they had spoke to yesterday. I think the interviewer was caught off guard as the first thing he did was tell the interviewer to ask the media to leave the scene. Saying theyd already published lies and inaccuracies.UpTheBeehole wrote:Which paper?

I wonder how many people, when faced with such events, take out their mobile phone and start taking photos and filming without even thinking to contact emergency services.LoveCurryPies wrote:When the first bridge attack occurred in London, there was social media footage that clearly shows a woman run up to a person on the ground and start filming them on her mobile phone. Social media has a lot to answer for.
On the other hand, I guess mobile footage has been used and evidence and helped with convicting offenders.
Re: The Press
I thought the male BBC on scene interviewer was appalling yesterday morning, paxmanesque grillings for people who were arriving on scene visibly distressed looking for uncontactable relatives.

Re: The Press
all the media bleed these events dry, they come across as respectful standing there with their serious expressions, but they want anything they can get.
9/11 type stills of firefighters, recrimination interviews about local polititicians not funding safety, seeking out witnesses with the most harrowing accounts.
They revel in a disaster Im sad to say.

Re: The Press
There is a reason they are called 'The Gutter Press'. They drag everything down to the 'lowest' common denominator. Sick.

Re: The Press
Yesterday on Radio 2 they had various experts on talking about building techniques/regualtions and fire safety systems etc none of whom had any idea about the FACTS relating to the Greenfell Tower.
I find it most distasteful. Let's start the blame game before we have any idea whatsoever about what may or may not have happened. Also, there remain an awful lot of people unaccounted for yet the media concentrate on speculation and hearsay.

Re: The Press
i watched a programme several years ago where it featured various news agaencies, it showed a junior reporter being virtually bullied into doorstepping a family whos son had been killed in an accident, the bullying was her editor at the office who refused to take no for an answer.
the worst bit was a group of arses in a newsroom almost gleeful at the dunblane incident, because it had been a slow week up till then.
Animals, they really are are ****.

Re: The Press
The press did everything they could to undermine Theresa May and show support for Jeremy Corbyn and to stir up petty conflicts because according to their twisted ideology, it makes good TV. They want to undermine Brexit and cause a nation in crisis so there is more to write about, because destruction is the simulacrum of creativity. Anyone can destroy and cause mayhem to affect change, but no so many can to something creative to create change.

Re: The Press
There are good journalists, bad journalists and people who are pretending to be journalists. The person described in the OP sounds like a member of the middle category.
Re: The Press
By all means have a go at the Press if you wish but take note the majority of complaints so far on this thread are aimed at TV and radio

This is the carrot that has just ruined the thread.

Re: The Press
Sorry IT, I thought the Press was just that? Maybe incorporating their websites, but no way does the term extend to TV, radio

Re: The Press
I've often wondered why a journalist needs to investigate criminal activities. I'm sure that is what the police go through years of criminology training to do
