Padiham CC selected for trial Live streaming
Most local cricket leagues have moved over to CricHQ for scoring and websites, some even having live ball by ball scoring.
But Padiham have been selected to trial live streaming for their 20/20 game against Settle. It could be a huge step for local cricket if successful.

I love this with the reference to millions
Padiham Cricket Club would like to thank CricHQ for choosing the The Arbories as their setting and hope the watching "millions" enjoy the coverage.

It looks like it will be just cameras on the sightscreens that shows the action on the wicket. You would need talented cameramen to keep up with the ball in 20/20.ClaretTony wrote:I clicked on the link from the link but there is no working video for me
Highlights packages could be popular afterwards showing boundaries or wickets. Might stop the batsman whinging about getting out LBW.
They might be advertising it as the India Vs Pakistan final to get the 'millions' of viewers haha.

There's an advert that you can skip on 4 seconds, have you got some sort of ad blocker that prevents you watching these videos?ClaretTony wrote:Screen comes up with arrow but I can't click on it

It's a selling job, if you want it at your club you'll have to cough up for it

Have you anymore info? I was wondering how it could work financially? I was thinking the only way it could would be get big viewing numbers for their advertisers.Deardeary wrote:It's a selling job, if you want it at your club you'll have to cough up for it
The big clubs might purchase for coaching purposes.
Re: Padiham CC selected for trial Live streaming
Cric HQ did he big sell to LL clubs as part of the deal for us to score via their media platform. From what I remember a four figure fee for the initial set-up, probably explains the non-existant take up amongst the locals. To be fair they showed footage of a Yorkshire league Cup final as an example and it was pretty good.
Re: Padiham CC selected for trial Live streaming
Sounds like my action replay. The GMCL have bought into. Basically a strategically placed CCTV camera that shows live footage. The picture quality is very good, linked in with crichq. Don't know what the cost involved is. I've watched a few games through this so the club have missed out my £20 over the bar!

Re: Padiham CC selected for trial Live streaming
I'm unsure as to who would benefit from this.
Why would a club want to offer an alternative to supporters paying their memberships year in year out and also people paying at the gate ?
Income from gate money, bar and tea room takings, sponsorship, draw tickets etc = £ 0.00. This is the lifeblood of local cricket.
Weather a bit iffy ? Sod that, I'll watch it at home on my phone.
Fancy a few beers in the sun at the T20 on a Friday evening ? Same result.
Would the end user have to pay any upfront costs or would a Lowerhouse v Burnley fixture result in a pay per view affair ?
I'm assuming that advertising will play its part but it's hardly going to be box office stuff.
As an aside, the new cricket app, although well put together, seems also to have stopped some people travelling to games. It provides ball by ball commentary & stats in the Lancashire League.
Watch it live. £4 and concessions £2. Bargain.

Re: Padiham CC selected for trial Live streaming
My cousin is the Sales Director at CricHQ and was telling me that the live stream also links into the scorer if they are using the app. This provides the live score on the feed along with who is bowling to which batsman.
At the end of the game, the app will generate a highlights package based on any "exciting" moments. I.e. scorer presses button to say bowler is running in (starts the recording) then batsman hits a 6 (so the scorer taps the 6 option) which will then stop recording until the next ball.
Personally think it is a good idea, but is putting a lot of pressure on the scorer.
