Best place for a lads holiday?

Post by lanky22222 » Fri Jun 23, 2017 7:44 pm

Me and a few of my mates (all to be 18 come the time of the holiday), are looking to go on a lads holiday abroad for a week after our exams - but can't figure out where the best place to go is. Ibiza has been mentioned a few times, as has Magaluf, but both seem too expensive for a bunch of lads on minimum wage!

Just thought i'd come on here and ask if anyone has any history of going on a class lads holiday and if they could recommend anything! Any tips welcome!

I went gumbet/bodrom in turkey when I was 18. Cheap and great. Tenerife for me, 3 lads hols, every single one cheap and great

One of the best lads holidays I had was benidorm , I know it's cheesy but it was great.
Also liked gran canaria, not so keen on Greece and Turkey, **** holes.

If you can't afford Magaluf you probably can't afford anywhere

Same with Ibiza, you don't have to spend your time in Ocean Beach, Pacha and Blue Marlin

Another vote for Benidorm. Some cracking value on booze, as well.

Kavos was crazy the last time I was there. Some p!ss heads tipped a cop car over.

Classy.

Fly to Athens. Ferry to ios.

Described in the guidebooks as a 'den of iniquity best avoided'

I loved it (circa 1991 mind)

Cheers guys, looks like we're going for Maga with Benidorm a close second - seems I've started a topic for all you adult clarets to reminisce for when you were my age!

Magaluf is a lot bigger than the rest and will keep you happy for a week.
About a euro a beer during the afternoon.

I loved Greece but when they changed to the Euro prices went spiralling to over 6 euros a beer when Spain was buy one get one free at 3 euros. No contest for young lads.

Prague is great although more a stag than a lads summer holiday, is say.

If you want proper clubs, it has to be Ibiza but you pay. I've never been but what about somewhere like Sunny Beach. Looks fuckin awful but I suspect it'd have everything a group of young lads would want: cheap beer, birds, sun and probably cheap to stay.

There was always a better girls to boys ratio in Greece. Magaluf was about 8 lads to every girl.

I went to magaluf for my first lads holiday and it was great at the time. Been back twice since and it gradually got worse.

Either that or I was getting older. Probably a bit of both. Its cheap, tacky, etc but thats what you want at 18 I think. To be fair has some nice beaches and restaurants. Wouldnt go back now though unless I had to. Was great as an 18 year old though.

Benidorms same. Tacky as anything but to be fair had a great trip when we went.

Ibiza dont believe the hype. Overrated and massively overpriced. It was good 20 years ago. People just go to be seen there now.

Sunny Beach isnt a bad shout. Its cheap as chips when you get there. Even cheaper now then the first time I went. Lots less groups of english lads, beer under a quid and foods brilliant and cheap. Loads of groups of foreigners. Especially skandinavians.

Faliraki was alright but preferred rhodes old town even at 19.

To be fair Faliraki, Benidorm, Magaluf, Sunny Beach will all offer you what you want as a group of 18 year old lads. And if you want to venture off and do other stuff theres plenty away from the resorts too. Knowing what I know from going to all them at your age (and being back too) i would recommend sunny beach.

If you pick Megamuf, watch out for the flying white plastic chairs.

Thinking back now it was actually 2 weeks our first hol away! Still not bad going though! A word of warning be very careful one of my mates was ****** in a bar and knocked a table of drinks over,it was a accident but out of nowhere the police must of been called and my mate got literally dropkicked by a officer outside and had a nice bootprint on his chest for the rest of the holiday. The police and the bouncers on the big nightclubs can be very aggressive, just try not to get involved with fights etc it's zero tolerance seen a few beatings over there.

When you reach a decision could you post it on here? I'm booking a holiday soon and I want to make sure I'm a long way away from you and your mates. ;)

Porta del Carmen Lanzarote. Some young chaps who work for me really rate it bars every few yards and as one said even the elephant man would pull.

Get smashed on £2 bottles of wine and eat at 5* restaurants for equivalent of 15-20 quid. Plus the birds are insanely fit. Get on it mate

We used to alternate Ibiza / Magaluf - always booked a last minute teletext hol which usually ended up with Club 18-30. Make the most of the happy hours / 2 for 1 drinks / buy food from supermarkets / avoid eating out / use sunscreen.. Enjoy

I went to Gumbet in Turkey when I was 18 a few years ago on a lads holiday. Cheap and very decent in terms of bars and having an actual "strip" if that's what you're after. Decent looking place during the day as well - nice beach etc.

Agreed - very nice place. Great food / friendly people / reasonably priced. Had some great bars and seemed to attract a higher class of p****head. Shame I took the 'then' girlfriend. :x
