Carolina Reaper.

Post by Heathclaret » Sun Jul 02, 2017 7:37 pm

In a moment of curiosity, I bought two Carolina Reaper chillis from Tesco. I have no idea what to make with them.

Come on Fellow heat freaks, give me some ideas......... and don't be rude.

For some reason I thought this thread was going to be about a serial killer in America.

Not a 'hot off the press' new signing then.
Oh well. Still time. ;)

Whatever it is you use them for, it will be too hot for me.

Just eat them both whole and record the ensuing carnage for us all to enjoy.

I'm sure you don't need to be told - but do handle them with gloves. And don't touch anything else with the gloves - particularly not eyes, skin etc. Throughly wash the gloves, chopping board and knife afterwards.

At 400 times hotter than a jalapeno - there are limited things you can do with them, tbh.

Personally - I'd go for making a hot chilli sauce - to use very sparingly indeed... or possibly chop VERY small and mix with a kilo of butter, herbs, garlic and seasoning to make a butter that you can wrap in clingfilm - roll into a sausage shape - freeze - and slice into thin disks - to use when frying steaks.

Alternatively - if your village is under threat of attack from wild elephants...

Be very very careful with those chillies - they are seriously hot.

I like hot curries but those things take it to a whole new level.

You have been warned - there are a host of chilli challenges on youtube and here
is just one of them.

To give you some idea, the ordinary scotch bonnet chilli ranges from 100,000 to
350,000 on the scoville scale, whereas the Carolina reaper is 1.5 million on the same scale.

Personally I like this one, it's an honest attempt on a genuine TV programme.

Be very very careful. Had a Carolina Reaper Wing Sauce on a batch of Wings (Chicken). Few weeks ago. I'm a Vindaloo, house special, curry man so thought I knew hot. Two and i regretted it all. Bartender laughed, made it worse, took a third......made it worse. Carolina Reaper sauce, drop or two in anything. That's the way to go...... They have beer with that stuff over here. Crazy.....
