I think he'll be a cracking signing for them. I expect them to be pretty close to the running again this season. Also think we'll miss him but the move was probably the right thing to do for both parties.

Good luck to him. Not good enough at this level. Running is all well and good, but barring the very odd flash of genius that's really all he could offer. May have kept him as a squad player I suppose, but I think it's right that he should move now for us and him.

Surely if Dyche has let him leave we must have a replacement in the pipeline, unless he now sees Brady or JBG filling that role.

Scratching my head to understand this move. Surely as a regular in a premier league side you'd not be interested in playing for another team that is simply hoping to have the chance of being a premier league team?#?

And should they be successful, would he be part of their plans?

His replacement (and there must be one, surely) needs to bring the work rate and running, plus that little bit extra that Boyd seemed to have to sacrifice for the sake of the team. Hopefully whoever we bring in will be able to show a little more flair.

He's got a lot more about him than than perhaps we allowed him to show and he might get the opportunity to show some of that side of his game, at Wednesday.

In today's current silly fees, he was a bargain.

Best of luck, George.

123 games out of position but changed his game to suit our system and gave everything

Terrific player - Too old at 31 for a 2 year contract? It certainly wasn't down to his fitness

Best of luck George

Great 'free' signing for Wednesday though hey?

If I was them I'd play him up top just off Fletcher but saying that they have Forestiere or whatever he's called to do that, I hope they don't play him on the right like we did.

Really sorry to see George Boyd go...he always did his very best for us, and in the last two seasons he has run miles and miles and been a key player in the squad.

Thanks George- I wish we had kept you for two more seasons.

A very good signing by Wednesday.

He's done well for Burnley during his time with us but ultimately
he didn't score enough goals and/or create sufficient chances for others so we needed an
upgrade and he needed a new challenge which is what he's got at Wednesday.
I hope he does well there and thank him for his contribution to some great seasons with us.

I agree that he will be missed, however you have to question his ambition, if a two year championship contract is worth more than a one year contract in the premier league something really is wrong with him on a motivation level?
Surely we would've been assessing his season come next summer and possibly have had the chance to offer another one year extension had he performed well enough?

One of those players who wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but like Jones before him, who also has gone the Hilsborough way, George has been the ultimate professional and has been a perfect fit for Dyche. He leaves with my very best wishes.

Said it before he's a total credit to himself and his profession. He has epitomised the spirit of this team over the past three years. I hope he does really well there.
I don't think leaving for a 2 year contract at Wednesday shows a lack of ambition - he wants to play and probably realises that being an automatic starter in out team is not a given next season as we seek to upgrade certain positions. A one year extension offer suggests as much.
Ultimately though Boyd's game is almost at his best when his team is out of possession. For me he was a more effective player in the Prem than the Championship. It's an eye opener reading Wednesday fans comments about what they think they're getting. Hope they don't turn on him if it takes him a while to settle.

I don't think it can be denied that he worked very, very hard for us. He provided us with a few special goals as well. I'd have preferred him to stay (I think he'd have been very useful backup in the event of holding a lead in the second half of games) but fair play if he wants to play more football and have a longer contract. All the best, George. Thanks for all!

I'm loving this concept that somehow George didn't have a choice and we shouldn't have released him. Lets face it, he's got a longer contract on more money than we would have offered and no doubt a nice fat signing on fee to boot. All the while he has probably given himself the best chance of regular football.

George Boyd is completely within his rights to look after George Boyd and that is what he has done.

All the best George. You did a great job for us whilst you were here and I'll never forget the Man City rocket into the bottom corner. Now onwards and upwards.

My thoughts are very much with MD Wat at what must be a very difficult time for him.

A vital part of the team shape who will be missed from a defensive point of view without doubt.

He never failed to have sweat on the shirt.

Brave decision of Dyche to release him, seemed pivotal to how you play. Maybe he's looking at evolving your game? Like I say, brave decision.

I will miss him.....responsible for some of the most super-human, committed performances I have ever seen and I don't think he got enough credit for his performances in the two crucial games v Birmingham A and Preston A at the end of last season. He played as big a part as Michael Keane's last minute equalisers v Brighton and Boro in getting us up so it's a doubly sad day really.
