Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
It all appears very downbeat at present, the footballing equivalent of the Marie Celeste.

No I think it's down to the fact that we've been waiting for price to be agreed for Keane. I reckon we'll have 2 in by Weds

Re: Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
Not sure why selling Keane was necessary for us to sign players, things must be quite desperate in that case.

No it's you that's desperate
By the way do you support Burnley ?
I've never read a positive post from you yet

Re: Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
I think it's far to early to make any judgement, I wont hit the panic button for at least another month. I'd be far more concerned if we had brought in Juke, Reid and Walters at this stage. I've been underwhelmed by the players we have been linked with (bar Taylor/Robertson) but nobody knows if there really is any truth in the rumours. I have full confidence in Garlick delivering again, I will remain confident until I am given a reason not to be. So long as we get the right players through the door, I honestly don't care when we sign them.

Do you ever post anything positive about our club or about Sean Dyche for that matter?

My concern is Dyche I'm not convinced his heart is in it anymore.
Rebuilding a side at this level is hard, and too many players are wanting out.

Re: Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
I do think something has happened behind closed doors and I posted that a few weeks ago with the rumours at the time of a lot of players seemingly wanting out. Now Boyd and Keane have gone, Gray looks to be heading out, it does appear quite bleak but it's very early doors, 3 days into the transfer window, we have time on our hands and providing we get the right players, I'm more than happy to wait. The dressing room just hasn't appeared a happy place for a while with all the talk of players unhappy and wanting out, I understand your point.ablueclaret wrote:My concern is Dyche I'm not convinced his heart is in it anymore.

Downbeat?
How long have you been (ahem) supporting Burnley as to not know that we don't do fanfare before we sign anyone and then do downbeat after we sign someone.

Re: Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
Well he surely must have been unsettled for the past 3 seasons too, because this transfer window is panning out all like all those that have gone before it since Dyche arrived.

We are a tad slow in the market, i doubt it has much to do with Sean Dyche's circumstances.ablueclaret wrote:My concern is Dyche I'm not convinced his heart is in it anymore.

However, I do wonder why we mess about with (reportedly) derisory offers for players such as Walters.

The gap is the same size of the Grand Canyon, how exactly is it closing?
You might be on the way up (and by up, I mean signing players who might actually be good FOR THE LEAGUE YOU ARE IN) but you've a long way to go, and its still hilarious watching your fans chant "Venkys Out" while simultaneously admitting that the only reason you are not on the verge of going out of business is because of them.
Anyway, now that is off my chest.
I don't get this, I really don't. We stayed up last season, so we start the season in a much better position than the three promoted clubs to start with and its the 3rd of July. So Boyd has gone? So Keane has gone? So Gray is wanted?
Its a sign of just how much progress we have made that we've just sold a player to Everton. It not only smashed our transfer record, but its their record signing as well.
FFS, get a grip and just enjoy just how good we are and where we are for a bit. One thing that saxo does know is that the good times won't last forever, so don't waste them worrying because we haven't signed anyone in June.

Not really, more annoyed at our own fans rather than the resident weirdo.
Its nice for you that you appear to be on the way back, but you've got some way to go.
Just like we did, and it took us decades. Hopefully it takes you lot twice as long.

What a load of negative ninnies, we will be reet. We knew Keane, Boyd, Arfield (probably), defour (probably), Gray (probably) will leave for ages, why act shocked. Taylor on way and good few more by end of the window, chillax. UTC

Re: Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
We would all like to see the stars rolling in but how many clubs have actually signed their targets? If I'm correct did Garlick not say to be paitient & he seems pretty confident we will be stronger at the end of the window. As for unsettled there is no reason to think Dyche wanted the Palace job, I'm certain there was no approach as I'm certain Garlick would have refused it. As for players being not happy after staying up & bonuses of £500,000, when have you seen any signs of it?

Re: Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
Michael Keane's leaving statement suggested anything but dressing room disharmony. Superb player for us, will be difficult to replace but he was always destined for the next level and the fee strengthens our hand in the transfer market.
Boyd - another who has made a fantastic contribution but don't think SD has let anyone go under similar circumstances and got it wrong - Wallace, Jones, Shackell for example. Maybe the time was right for both parties.
Gray - it's highly unlikely he's ever going to command the kind of fee we could get for him right now. So that's down to SD's judgement on whether he could get the replacement(s) he wants within his budget.
Defour - given a proper pre-season could consistently fulfill the potential we've seen in patches.
As for incoming transfers the fees spent on Defour, Hendrick and Brady suggest we will pay the market rate for the quality of player SD feels he needs to keep us competitive at this level so as others have said until there's evidence to suggest otherwise there's every reason to be optimistic.

I don't understand what is so difficult about this situation. Just after the season the chairman said it is unlikely much business will be done early.
We simply have to wait until things develop in our favour. Whilst our budget is eye watering by our recent standards we don't have cash to throw around forcing things.

"inactivity'....I am sure the recruiting team reworking their rocks off.
"unsettled manager"....I am sure if Sean wasn't settled, he would be off. I suspect the opposite is true.
We have a clearer picture which players are leaving, that will allow Sean and the team to work out exactly what they need to bring in.
Please go back on your holiday, ablue. Enjoy the sun!

It's been known for 12 months that Keane was leaving, I'm sure a replacement has been lined up , it would be disappointing if one hasn't.

Re: Is our transfer inactivity down to an unsettled manager?
For me Id love to have seen 3 or 4 quality signings in and that we were looking to bring another 2 or 3 loan signings. But I think its to early to be saying unsettled manager, Sean has shown to be a professional manager, and while one day he will not be the Burnley manager, I think that until that day in Sean and the board we need to trust.
We can not out bid most clubs so we need to do our trading with a we bit more caution. Id rather watch Burnley in the championship with funds than dropping down through the leagues with huge debts.
So until we sign new players remember we are in credit and have potential to do so.
One thing that may help is more publicity of the training ground, what a lovely place to go to work and the views are wonderful.

I'm not a massive fan of Trolls but I must admit I used to admire Ablue!
He was probably the best troll of all the website trolls I have come across over the many forums I frequent and was subtle, imaginative and skilful at his chosen art.
Over the last 6 to 12 months now though his powers seem to be wavering. The once sharp mind and razor like fishing instincts have now become run of the mill like the rest of the obvious trolls.
