So sad, so unfair. All the things we all continually moan about, even something as trivial as football. You can never have perspective in that way of course, but even in my 30s I'm a lucky sod already.

Appreciate the crap days as much you do the good, experiencing anything is something worth living for. Young Bradley's face gives a picture of someone who never saw a crap day, and in a sense that's beautiful. In equal measure, it's unfathomably sad. He never got far enough to experience life.

Rest in peace Bradley. In your short life you made such a wonderful impact on the footballing world. Who will ever forget your smile and your obvious joy when you were with your best friend Jermain.

Rest in peace young feller.

You did what so many people have failed to do - unite people from so many different factions.

So sad that you passed so soon

Such a shame when children die so young. RIP young Bradley.

I imagine this is very hard for parents, especially those who have children of similar age. I've 2 nephews, one aged 4 (5 this month) and one aged 8 and it really doesn't bare thinking about. His foundation will keep his name alive.

Jermain Defoe has commented for the first time - he's tweeted some pics and the message below

That's a lovely thing to say, and it seems so genuine and from the heart.

Footballers are human, and what a great bloke Defoe is.

I've remembered him in private. Based on my out and out fisticuffs (literally) with a neighbour last Thursday. I decided against showing colours outside the house. Nothing to do with football mind, but for the sake of no further skirmishes (for my missus' sake rather than me) I am wearing my colours inside.

Just seen it on news, amazing turnout, lump in throat time. Apparently some schools and nurseries around here, that's Clitheroe, allowing children to wear football shirts today in memory of him.

Very moving that.
The pictures, videos and messages of support bring tears to your eyes and a lump in the throat.

The young lad touched so many hearts, and has achieved so much in his very short life.

Rest in peace little one x

No words or number of words ever seem enough. I had to turn the channel over when I saw his funeral on the news yesterday, just too sad to watch.

Just one year ago today since Bradley passed away. His family and friends will be having a tough day but they've made sure his name will live on with the Bradley Lowery Foundation. My thoughts are with them all today.

With England in action in an hour or so, I think this is the best picture I could use on this thread with his best friend.

Congrats to Bury and Sunderland but special congrats to Bradley. You did more in such a short time than most people do in a full lifetime. You will be sadly missed but your legacy will live for ever. RIP young man x

It's two years today since Bradley Lowery passed away, the little boy with the big smile who captured us all as he fought neuroblastoma. He's helping other young childen now through his charity, one of whom is Isla Caton. She's the little girl from the West Ham supporting family and just over a year or so ago we had a Millwall fan on here who was doing a sponsored run to raise money for her. The brilliant news is that Isla is now in remission.

Today though, we send our thoughts to young Brad's family and friends. It will be a difficult day for them.

Make it a day when more than anything else, you smile.

Two years already.

The poor lad moved a whole country. If you weren't moved by his story then you never will be.

It makes me cry every time I think of Bradley.

Jermaine Defoe showed the positive side of footballers. Immense respect to him.

RIP Bradley.

I remember seeing the West Ham fans raising awareness and money for Isla at our game there, when there was trouble in the ground.

Hard to believe it's been so long since Bradley passed.

Good to hear she's in remission.

I just remember the funeral being on the day we played Shamrock Rovers. I think he touched virtually everyone in his short life.

I’ve tried to smile at every opportunity today.

I don’t know how you deal with it. I lost my cousin when she was 22 and that was hard enough to deal with but Bradley was just five. You never forget and I don’t think you can ever come to terms with it.

What an inspiration little Bradley was. We lost our only grandchild Joey in June 2020 he was just short of his first birthday. He would have been 4 years old on 24 July. To this day the Specialists/ Doctors don’t know the reason for his death. It’s a hard 2 months June/July for all of us. I think I can honestly say I have an idea how little Bradley’s parents will be feeling today. My heart goes out to them. Life is cruel at times, somehow when it’s young children it just feels so much harder.
