What is your favourite car?
Re: What is your favourite car?
There's a bloke in Canterbury who has a metallic light blue Skyline, it looks amazing but when I asked him about it, he said the outside 'paint' was actually a sticker and not paint.

Agreed, but a little bit of me dies whenever i see something like this.BennyD wrote:We'll have to agree to disagree on that one; originally yellow was the favoured colour for Ferrari, the red came about because that was the Italian racing colour. The Brits had green, the French had blue (hence most old Bugattis are light blue), the Germans had silver (hence the silver arrows) and the Italians had red. Ferrari sports cars suit red and yellow best and the GTs suit darker colours.

Its cheaper to 'wrap' cars nowadays.Pstotto wrote:There's a bloke in Canterbury who has a metallic light blue Skyline, it looks amazing but when I asked him about it, he said the outside 'paint' was actually a sticker and not paint.
There's a parts supplier around the UK, FPS, who do the same.
All their vans are wrapped in bright green

Re: What is your favourite car?
You can get a car wrapped for about a quarter of the price of a full respray.

Are these wraps secure? Don't they peel off with the weather/washing?
Seen some good ones that I assume are wraps.

The one that gets me from A to B for the least outlay.
My current Renault Clio complete with Burnley badge in rear window cost under £500 so that's my current favourite

I remember seeing one on the M62 in the mid 90's and being so excited by the noise as a 8/9 year old. Turned out to be Prince Naseem driving it.Sutton-Claret wrote:Always wanted a black Countach with gold wheels - I bet they're a right pig to drive

Absolutely. It has to be retail red or yellow on a 458. Even black looks sh!t on one of those, especially with a black interior.Foshiznik wrote:Agreed, but a little bit of me dies whenever i see something like this.

They are and, these days, not that quick. Still they have the V12 which every Lambo should have.Sutton-Claret wrote:Always wanted a black Countach with gold wheels - I bet they're a right pig to drive

Jaguar E-Type
Jaguar MK2
Austin Bugeyed Sprite
Lamborghini Miura
Austin Mini
Alfasud Sprint
The Original Alfa Romeo Giulia GT
I know it's more of a garage than just a favourite
My Grandad used to have a Triumph Dolomite Sprint (Royal Blue with a black vinyl roof). It was a damn quick car

The 356 is a bit of a jelly mould but they seem to be very desirable at the moment. I never really liked Porsche; brilliant cars but maybe a bit German, a bit soulless.

Re: What is your favourite car?
My mum's Austin Healy Sprite, that I crashed in the early 70's.
Thought I'd wash it and earn some brownie points. Drove it back into the garage after but didn't brake.......... First time I drove a car.

Re: What is your favourite car?
A few years ago a particularly rich mate of mine was advised to buy 4 288GTOs (see above) and put them into storage and wait. The price at the time was about £200k, the last good I saw for sale was up for £1.75m. He bought an F40 and then a Pagani Zonda instead. C'est la vie!
Re: What is your favourite car?
Met a bloke on holiday recently who has one of these, the Eagle E type.
Stunningly beautiful

The 1.3 Rallye (20CB90) gearbox was even more savage (excepting maybe the 4 speed), especially when strapped to the 16v. 4000 rpm at 70 mph (indicated).Right_winger wrote:The GTI gearbox was more aggressively geared

A 205 with an Mi16 engine is another dream car.

Re: What is your favourite car?
That looks like an Eagle E-type lightweight which, IIRC, costs about £500K. My implausibly rich mate also has a standard Eagle E-type which he gave to his wife. The standard Eagle E-type looks like a beautifully restored standard car, but is upgraded all the way through. Expensive, but absolutely beautiful. He's a lucky guy; he has a sublime garage at the moment and I never get tired of visiting it.Jel wrote:Met a bloke on holiday recently who has one of these, the Eagle E type.

Re: What is your favourite car?
I've just 'won' an old Jensen Healy on Evil-bay. It's not a dream car as yet but I might just put a turbo from an Esprit on it. That might be fun, but it won't be when the Mrs finds out I've just bought yet another car. However, no d!ck no vote!
