What is your favourite bar?
What is your favourite bar?
For me it is the Taverna Fantastico in Crete. Perched high above the town of Rethymnon with no other buildings nearby, accessible only by a narrow winding track with fabulous views of the town and coastline below.
Delicious food and drinks with good company on a glorious summer day, it's hard to beat.

At the moment it's Calan's in Hebden Bridge. I usually manage a pint or two in there on a Thursday afternoon after walking the dog in the hills above the town.

I've never been in and never intend to but the Brittania on Oxford Road fascinates me for some reason.
What is it like inside? It must be horrendous, surely?

The Chill Out Bar in Alvor Portugal.
Did you know that Lord Nelson & Long John Silver used to drink in the Chill Out.
They tried some of the other bars in Alvor but it cost them an arm & a leg!

The Mooserwirt, just above the last slope down into St. Anton.
It shifts the largest volume of beer, for its size, in Europe apparently.

Re: What is your favourite bar?
Are some of these places being mentioned 'pubs' rather than 'bars'?
A bar to me is distinct from a pub.
But I suppose a 'bar' is also a specific area of a pub....

Re: What is your favourite bar?
Not been a bar person since 2013. We're moving house and have found a nice pub in the sticks near our new house. We don't do people much, so will probably enjoy a quiet drink and meal in peace. We really don't like 'local pubs' prefer the quiet in the country pubs that sell proper ale and food and away from the yokels.

Rose and Crown Stoke Newington. Great London pub grade 2 listed, and the Wheatsheaf at Borough market still packed, regardless of its recent trauma.
