Doing the rounds on the most unreliable source https://twitter.com/WorIdTransfers/stat ... 3500087297, and as much as I would love this to happen, I very much doubt it. CT?

Hope not.
Loan to prove his fitness before we spunk cash on someone to keep the knee specialists busy.

I'd sooner see Austin back. But when players move on, they've moved on. So do we. Bring in the new legends!

I know it's not cool on here to obsess about ex-players but I'd absolutely ****ing love it if Ings came back.

Just the type of striker we need, capable of dropping off, finding space and linking the play.

Agree. And not only is he quick when direct running, he's especially quick with the ball at his feet which we've never replaced.KRBFC wrote:Just the type of striker we need, capable of dropping off, finding space and linking the play.

Would we be creaming ourselves at paying £11 million for any other 24 year old who's had 4 major knee injuries and made11 appearances in the last two years?
Just checking.

12 month loan to ascertain fitness etc with a fixed fee in the loan arrangement. I'd also want to load the fee with significant amounts of add ons based around appearances....
Only way I'd even consider this deal based on Danny's injury record.
However I doubt this is going to happen so it doesn't really matter. Darthlaw's comment above is very apt....

Well we're also buying Downing according to that Twitter account. When these two deals come off I'm sure the account will start to attract more than it's 146 followers!

Re: Ings returns home for 11m...
In his last season with us his head was turned, and unfortunately it showed in quite a few of his performances.
When injury free and focused he's a great player, but even if we took him on loan and he did well he'd want to go to a bigger club.
I think its best we steer clear of this one.

On loan with an option to buy at the end of the season and at the same amount we got for him is the only thing I would consider, Anything more than that would be ridiculous.

Re: Ings returns home for 11m...
Firstly, that looks like a joke twitter account. I would consider and take interest in those with a substantial number of followers with something of a record not such as this one.
As for Ings, I posted last week on him. I think everyone knows how highly I rated him but he's hardly played in two years and he's now had surgery on four knee injuries in the last six years. I would have serious concerns given that.

Re: Ings returns home for 11m...
There's absolutely no way we'd risk 11 million on a player who's unfit with a history of injuries like ings. The best Liverpool will do is finding a loan deal at the moment, and that well may be worth the risk.

Re: Ings returns home for 11m...
I'd take Ings back on a season long loan, perhaps even pay 500k for it if it came with an option for Burnley to buy him for a fixed fee after a year if it worked out.
But there's no way I'd pay anything like £11 million quid to buy him this summer, he's too much of a gamble after his last 2 injuries I'm afraid. There's no guarantee he'll be even half the player he was when we sold him.
I don't disagree he's the sort of player could usefully add to the squad this summer, but he's not the player we need this summer.

He's the same risk as Wilshere.
Both cracking players but as it stands neither are guaranteed to be fit for a full season, not even 2/3rds.

Fabulous footballer Danny. Loved watching him with Trippier and Sam Vokes. Love to see him back. Yes he has had injury problems so a loan deal for now?
Hope so. Has more in his locker than Gray has.

Re: Ings returns home for 11m...
I loved Ings when he was here. I recall having a debate with 2 other fans in later 2012/13 season who were taking the **** because I liked him. Their view was that he lost the ball a lot, and offered nothing. I argued that he was the only player in the team who dropped deep, picked the ball up, turned and actually ran at the opposition defence with pace. It always scared the opposition to death.
It's amazing how quiet they were when I reminded them 6-7 months later of that conversation.
Two serious knee injuries though? Not so sure...I am shocked at how young he is mind. I'd not given it much though but the fact he's on,y 25 this week is surprising. I thought he must have been 27-28 now. Still got plenty of years left.

No he has serious problems with his knees....
Even Jay is a risk, as we don't know the real reason he did not play week in week out for Southampton last season
Lets face it, 12 months ago we did not know if Barnes would play regular, he did eventually

Jay didn't get on with the manager I don't think. He certainly wasn't happy not playing at the Turf.

Personally I'll go along with any decision SD and the crew make. If we bring him back it is thought to be worth while by all concerned, if we walk away it isn't. I won't lose sleep either way.
