ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
If Reid was signed for the dressing room , doesn't say a lot for Dyche, thought it was his job to keep the dressing room buoyant.
Bring better players into the team will keep us up not bringing in the likes of Bardsley or Reid .

I'been accused of many things over the years on this board but a "happy clapper".... now that is a first.Devils_Advocate wrote:Yet in post #27 you presume to know the inner workings of the Burnley dressing room to the point that a player signed as a first team squad member was actually really just what our dressing room needed and was therefore worth the £000's we paid because of that.
This dressing room cheerleader stuff was made up well into the season when it was obvious hes was a bad signing to deflect the criticism of Dyche as it is to much for the happy clapper snowflakes to cope with

Is it really Darikwa we are looking to replace as im not sure he even made a Premier League matchday squad last season even when Ward was out and we only had two recognised full backs.Sidney1st wrote:We need a better option at right back over Darikwa, so we're looking around.
What we had is flexitibility with Ward, Flannagan and Mee who could play left back and Lowton, Flannagan, Keane and Tarks who could play right back.
Surely the aim is to give us a speicialised back up option at right back now Flannagan and Keane have gone and the question should be is Bardsley the best value signing we could make to achieve this and not just simply is he better than Darwika.
If the aim is just to improve on Darikwa then we could sign my nan who would be cheaper, have plenty of experience and be great in the dressing room

The happy clapper bit was just highlighting how a made up point of view presented as fact was quickly accepted without question and the reason why a lot on here were happy to do so especially when if you dare to state a negative opinion you are jumped to prove or justify it

But last seasons success came from giving it a go in the market, so far this window its like we have gone backwards. 9 week after last season and our starting 11 isn't stronger. I dont think we have done badly this window in terms of boosting squad depth and I was expecting the starting 11 to now be a priority which it doesn't appear to be. Wheres the exciting Brady like signing or even link?ElectroClaret wrote:No, fair enough, but he was on a learning curve like all young managers, culminating in

We've signed Cork to replace Barton.
We've signed Walters who most people will agree is a better option than Boyd if he's going to appear on the flank.
So I think you're wrong about the starting 11 not being any stronger because in some areas it is.

We don't have Marney until January and we are seriously weak at centre-half. It's a valid claim.Sidney1st wrote:It isn't stronger?

While I wouldn't really describe the starting 11 as stronger there's plenty of time still to do this.

Re: ARTICLE: Bardsley linked with Burnley return
For some areas yes, but most clubs would be happy with Westwood, Hendrick, Cork and a fit Defour as their central midfield options.
Marney will just be a bonus IF he's fit in January, but hanging out hopes and season on him returning is just a bit daft.
Lots of PL experience, international experience and some European experience...

Too many pessimistic posts on here and it's why I don't come on it often. Let's just see where we end up come transfer deadline. As the BFC board say, the aim is to end the transfer window stronger than we started. So yes there's work to do to strengthen in certain positions but will all the moaners just stop moaning and have faith in our board and our manager.

Recruitment is going well. Solid signings who are better than those they have replaced. Bardsley is 50 times the player Darikwa is so this would also be the case here.
Work still to be done but happy thus far.

Bardsley keeps being mentioned in the same breath as Walters on here.
The key difference between Jon Walters and Phil Bardsley, is that Walters actually has some Premier League footballing ability left.

I support Burnley
Burnley have appointed Sean Dyche to manager the club which includes player recruitment
If he thinks Phil Bardsley is good enough to fit the framework of the team and is the right type of character that will do for me.
Two promotions... championship winners ...and keeping us in the premier league
I think he is the right man to make these decisions.

Only about 8 months older than Stephen Ward so plenty left in the tank.

As I have said on a different thread.
Past his best about 3 years ago, player has got worse every season since.
To say that there are only two clubs in the league that have technically not spent a penny of last seasons money. This is incredibly underwhelming.
File under Reid

I understand that point of view. But come on, we earned approximately 110m last season + 30m in the sale of keane.
If Bardsley is the best RB we can get then that is poor.

I agree. File them under Joey Barton, Graham Alexander, Mitchell Thomas, Ian Wright, Andy Payton, and others who were also on a downward trajectory. Young inexperienced up-and-coming players are brilliant to have - but you don't want 11 of them in the team, as a rule.ablueclaret wrote:Bardsley Walters and Given all have our thing in commen they are on a downward trajectory.

Probably the latter, he obviously doesn't watch much football. This isn't me digging at Dyche by criticising the signing of Bardsley I'm just frustrated how the window is heading after a promising start with a couple of good additions. Am I allowed an opinion on players we sign? Some fans just jump on the defensive straight away to defend the club/Dyche when they simply cant get everything right, they're humans after all. Some posters even defended the signing of Reid but would slaughter the dud signings made by Howe/Laws, can some fans just not admit Dyche's mistakes? Really quite strange.dsr wrote:Just to clarify your position - are you saying that Dyche didn't want us to become the best we can, or are you saying that Dyche did want us to be the best we can but didn't have your footballing knowledge to make it happen?
