Gray rumour
"Big-spending Wolves could make a shock £20million move for Burnley striker Andre Gray .
Eyebrows have already been raised by their Championship rivals over the transfer cash being spent"
£20 million, he's yours.

Re: Gray rumour
Chatted about this with some Wolves fans recently.
They're adamant they're going up with all this money they've been spending and tossing themselves silly about being Mendes' shop window for his clients.
If Gray wanted to go backwards in his career then I'd send him on his way for the right money, but I doubt he will.

Could...but won't I'd guess.
Re: Gray rumour
I think Wolves will crash and burn this season. Bringing in a load of expensive foreigners rarely works out well in the slog that is the Championship.

Re: Gray rumour
I think Dyche will keep him to help us stay up another season. It makes sense.. sell if we can replace him. But we can't. So we keep him.

I think we'd be totally irresponsible if we refused £20m to be perfectly frank.

Re: Gray rumour
£20m if they didn't think he was going to sign a new deal would be more than enough.
However it then requires our recruitment guy/team to pull their fingers out.

Sold Keane for 30 million with no chance the full amount will be used to replace him .

We would sell him and replace him with Agyei or another Juke. We need to keep our better players to progress, selling a goal scorer is one way to seal your relegation.

Re: Gray rumour
He may chip in with 10 goals this season, but I doubt that would be enough to keep us up.
I honestly believe we are going to struggle to stay up this season, we just don't have the finance. Take what we can and hope for the best?

I think you're one of the best posters on here, but I can't take too much from that. For a start, Vokes is a target man and Gray is someone who scares the life out of the oppositon's defenders with his pace. They aren't like for like.boatshed bill wrote:Vokes 10 goals in 21 games

Re: Gray rumour
I think gray will get better and better, through his career he shows he's a fast learner but £20 million, wow. I'd love him to sign a new heavily incentived deal.
Niasse, Austin, long, Wilson afobe etc could be available or a nippy crackerjack from abroad.
Btw, only realised £19million from Keane sale and I'm sure we have cb lined up, prob just waiting for selling club to do their business.

Re: Gray rumour
If Wolves offer 20m and Gray goes we could spend the 20m and hijack Leicesters bid for Iheanacho according to the link he is only on 10k a week at city so 30-40k might just get him.

Re: Gray rumour
£20m? Sell, Sell, Sell.
Re: Gray rumour
We are a selling club, always have been and probably always will be. I understand that, we sold all the players above when we needed the cash, we weren't a PL club when we sold any of those players, completely different scenarios to the ones you mentioned. The cash we need now is not transfer fees but the PL TV windfalls, the way we get that Is staying in the league, selling your best striker before a PL season is suicide IMO.Bordeauxclaret wrote:Like when we sold Andy Gray, Lafferty, Blake, Ade, Jay, Taylor and Fletcher?

Re: Gray rumour
We would need a replacement - and we can't afford it. That's why it looks like we're keeping him until next season. No problem at all from me. I've said from day one how much I rate him. In 12 months time, you'll be glad we kept hold.

Re: Gray rumour
Unlucky with the offside yesterday so he could have had two goals
Re: Gray rumour
Yeah swap a 25 goal a season Championship striker with one who cant stay fit let alone score goals in the Championship. Sounds like a great way to improve.CFS wrote:Wouldn't need a replacement just get the lad nouha dicko part of the deal.
Re: Gray rumour
It's a decent price for a player with only a year left. It's a poor price if we've not got someone in mind that is attainable, and affordable, who might deliver at least as much as Gray would.

Re: Gray rumour
True, but Gray also scares the linesmen with the amount of work they'll have to do flagging him for offside every 30 seconds.FactualFrank wrote:I think you're one of the best posters on here, but I can't take too much from that. I wouldn't sell him unless we have someone lined up who is able to hit the ground running. We have not replaced Keane yet and whoever we get will have already missed out on a Dyche pre season

He is from the midlands but would be a bizarre transfer. Unless we have a plan to bring in another striker. I'll shout out again at Vincent Jansenn at Spurs. He'd be an ideal link for our strikers.

Re: Gray rumour
Just lazy story.Wolves have cash.Gray is from Wolverhampton. Therefore he's a Wolves target. Why leave for a team of chancers?
Money is great but sometimes the reality doesn't match the promise .
Wolves are miles off being a decent Championship team let alone promotion contenders

Re: Gray rumour
We can't sell without a replacement. Doubt he will want to go backwards. How much willl another proven PL goal scorer cost ? Clubs pay a premium for them. We should keep him until Jan and then cash in.

Re: Gray rumour
Nothing whatsoever in this.
Gray will be hanging on, as with Ings, for a big payday next summer, and however big a gobsh1te he may be, he won't be screwing that up by dropping a division. Never going to happen.
But if you don't understand that we'd take anyone's hands off for that kind of cash then you've not followed Burnley for long.

Re: Gray rumour
But Gray won't sign another contract
So if somebody is willing to pay a big wad plus pay him better wages
He will go no matter what division they are in ......e g. Assombolonga

Re: Gray rumour
Don't need him to sign another contract but we do need him to stay this season. Imagine a strike force of Vokes, bruiser Barnes and the old lad from Stoke...in the Premier League. Wow.
Re: Gray rumour
Total bullshit. No way Gray will go back to the Championship. Biggest worry about selling Gray would be the lack of pace up front and whether or not we would use the money to replace him. We haven't managed to replace Keane yet, in fact we've only spent half the Keane money on our total transfers so far.
