Refunds

Post by Quickenthetempo » Mon Aug 07, 2017 2:54 pm

It doesn't look like Burnley are offering any refunds for Saturdays abandoned match and I'm sure it divides opinions whether they should.

The problem I have is I took my two kids 11 and 13 in the cricketfield stand where they will have their first STs this season. They are obsessed with anything Burnley at the moment but Saturday has knocked the stuffing out my youngest who was in tears and demanded to go home.
I took them quickly into the longside and eventually went into beehole to convince him to stay. But on the way home he asked if I could get my money back for his ST as he didn't want to go anymore.
Now both kids paid for their tickets out of their spending money which has made a big dent for them.

It would be nice if the club give something back especially for the kids to get them over this experience and would go some way to convincing the youngest to come back. If not the refund what about an open training session at Gawthorpe while the kids are all off on holiday?

I'd say you have a good case in asking for a refund as they didn't provide the service you paid for.

I'm currently penning a letter to the club demanding a refund for the entire 1980's as they clearly flouted the trade descriptions act by employing people impersonating footballers.

The customer charter states that refunds are payable if the game is abandoned during the first half.

I can't see you getting your money back but if you contact the club they may offer you a ground tour or something to get your youngest excited and wanting to go again. Worth a phone call.

You would think the club would at least offer refunds, I'm not surprised they haven't though.

Possibly the most tight fisted club in the country, more chance if them demanding extra money from fans due to loss on confectionery sales.

You're a customer, once they have your money, they don't care about your feelings and/or experience.

Leave it, and use it as a life lesson for you and your kids.

I thought the charter said 50% refund would be due with the game being abandoned in the first half.

Why do people constantly want to have a go at the club? Most tight fisted now. What do you base that on? Six years without an increase in ticket prices suggests not.

I didn't word my post well. Yes it's 50% if called off in first half. I was trying to point out that the club are not obliged to offer anything once the game has reached half time.

I feel very sorry for your children quickenthetempo, it must have been a nasty expeirience for them and yourself and i agree with you about the refund,it looked bad enough from where i was sat{bob lord} so it must have been bad for you and your family. yes, a phone call wouldnt be a bad thing or even call at the ticket office and ask to see someone about your plight , maybe someone from PR. Dont give up and make a stand for yourself and let them know how you and your children have been affected by this horrible incident, young supporters are the future of our club and being scared to go to games wont be good for burnley fc. Whatever you choose to do, good luck and try to reassure your kids that is was only a group of idiots who we will never see again. utc

Ah yes. No refunds due then if simply applying the terms and conditions.

Bronze category games in the JHU centre were £25 in 2013/14. Gold was £33.

Our next home game against WBA is £40 for the same seat.

Looks like a price increase to me!

I hope we do get refunds - I took my nephew and two of his mates thinking it would be easy enough to watch 3 of them on my own in a friendly!

On a serious note, the club still had costs to host the game etc. That said I dont understand why they opened every stand. Trouble or not.

Not the club's fault. If you feel bitter about it don't buy twixes for the family for a whole season and but multipacks beforehand. £3.20 a match saved x 19 games is a £60.80 saving. If you take a flask with you £8 per match x 19 is £152.00. You will have saved more than any refund you could get.

How is spending money in any way related to getting a refund?

I do have some sympathy for those taking their kids on trying to get them into football and Burnley but any adult willing to waste their time and money on a glorified training session deserves what they get.

Infact they should be thankful they got a bit of their time back as watching a Dyche team when it means something can be tedious but when there is nothing at stake it must just be so ZZZzzzzz

You can't compare Championship with Premier League prices. Season tickets have not gone up and ticket prices now are less than they were in 2014/15.

Some people are very sad. How can you possibly blame the club for abandoning the match? Would you have preferred they ignored police advice to risk your safety? £10!

Don't constantly have a go at 5he club, just voice my opinion.
My opinion seems to be shared by quite a few though, so I don't just think it is me that thinks the club are quite right fisted.

And why do people always jump on the defensive, being tight fisted probably helped contribute to why these people are multi millionaires.

Once, just once would I like to see the club rewarding the fans, giving something back or even just not trying to squeeze every last penny out of the fans at what is a very difficult time economy wise.

The child's ticket cost £5, half the game played means the most anyone could remotely hope for is £2.50, but there's always an element of fixed costs (stewarding etc.) so call it £1.25 refund for a half time abandonment, as a fair gesture.

The idea of ringing the club and seeing about a ground tour or something is a much better one.

I have to say that as it was the Police who called the game off nobody can blame the club for that, it is the Police as well who should have known to expect troublemakers, it would be nice if they offered something for the young ones to help them get over the shock of what happened though, but I suppose that is up to the clubs PR department.

I remember when I was a teen, my parents had gone on holiday, I invited some lads in to my home and a few things got broken, the expensive carpet got trashed. When my parents returned I got the blame, but looking back now, actually I wasn't in anyway to blame.

When BFC invite idiots in to their home and it gets trashed, they have no responsibility what so ever, they are just the innocent victims.

Increasing a ticket from £25 to £40 in 3 years isn't rewarding fans. There aren't many people in Burnley who've seen their wages increase to 160% of what they were on in May 2014.

Most people would think you're being completely unreasonable, expecting not to get a price increase when it's Chelsea, Man United and the rest rather than (say) Rotherham, Fulham and Milton Keynes. Don't you think the better quality opposition is rewarding in itself? If price is the only important factor and quality of opposition isn't, then non-league football is surely the way to go. Parks football, in fact - no admission charge at all for that.

Ignoring that you have already admitted tickets for those seats on some games were £33 that season, that would bring your 160% increase down to slightly over 20%.

Can't think why you went 160% and not 20% route

Your figures are not correct and you are comparing a low cat Championship game with a Premier League game. The fact is that season tickets are the same price. We've also introduced direct debits for season tickets which allows you to spread the cost without paying a penny more.

I don't want to get into a debate that clearly divides opinion, as I've got a deep fill just steak pie in the oven, but...

Rewarded - give something to (someone) in recognition of their services, efforts, or achievements.

Keeping the price of season tickets the same was a good gesture, however I am not 100% sure all season tickets haven't gone up in price for 6 seasons as you pointed out.

Also the cost of the match day ticket has been very up and down with various category's and other schemes introduced.

don't like to knock the club but ..... surely they have a responsibility to ensure your safety in their stadium, i would have thought. there was prior evidence/intel that there was a high chance of trouble yet the club allowed home supporters into the CFS . basically the club placed children into a dangerous environment. refunds are fully justified and morally the correct course of action for the club to follow.

Not sure why all the stands were open and there was no real need for the CFS stand to be open for home fans but this is hindsight. Personally I wouldn't take a child in the CFS. The club didn't anticipate these idiots turning up and will take their advice from the police. Can't blame the club on this really. I also think prices are expensive but if you want to see PL football fans need to get used to it.

I might have that wrong - it could be five years but there have been no increases.

Why do you want to keep knocking the club? I just don't understand it.

Im interested in where the 160% has come from!

There is plenty you can beat the club up on. But pricing definitely isnt one of them! Even the infamous retainer was resolved after one unsuccessful season.

I would of thought the club would at least give an explanation as to what they were doing regarding refunds whether they are giving them back or not? Bit poor communication by them so far.
