Andre Gray Gone
Just ben on SSN Andre Grey has gone to Watford for club record deal (Watford's I'm guessing)
Now we need to hope the replacement is lined up with a pen in his hand

May well be but couldn't see it confirmed he's gone in headlines, its not speculation now its happened.
(sure if the thread is redundant the mods will delete it)

Re: Andre Gray Gone
On the negative side we've sold our best 2 players and haven't replaced them & it's going to cost loads to replace them if we can at all. The positive way of looking at it is we've a great manager who the board have backed (mostly) and there's still time to replace them before the window closes. I'm on the positive side - just! But so far with 3 weeks to go the starting XI we have currently isn't good enough to stay up.

Re: Andre Gray Gone
And whomever we bring in to replace Gray (if we bring in anyone)
is likely to be closer to 'underwhelming' than 'exciting'.
I just hope Garlick and Dyche know what they are doing?
Or are they trying to be the most profitable club ever to be relegated?
Apologies if this all sounds pretty cynical on my behalf
but this only a few days after we (Dyche, I think it was) said we don't need to sell.
and a few days from the start of the season.
If Gray wasn't happy to stay we should have got rid weeks ago
rather than ensure he's match fit to start for Watford.
is likely to be closer to 'underwhelming' than 'exciting'.

The club is hardly going to say we wish to sell when they will have been doing all they could to maximise the fee payable.jurek wrote:And whomever we bring in to replace Gray (if we bring in anyone)

Last time we sold our "top striker" 2 days before season started, we had somebody to step-up and take his place - and we got promotion

Re: Andre Gray Gone
What possible evidence is there that Agyei is ready to step up? He was like new puppy when he came on as a sub. Danni on ice. He may turn out to be a very good player in a few years but he is nowhere near ready yet. He needs to go out on loan as soon as we bring in gray's replacement.

Re: Andre Gray Gone
In a recently published article Sean Dyche explained how important it was to attract the right type of players with a good attitude that will fit in with the rest of the group, and that he sets great store by being able to judge a player's character.
Since some posters are now quite happy to call Andre Gray a bad egg perhaps SD is losing his touch.
Better stay away from the omelettes Sean if you can't spot a bad egg.

Re: Andre Gray Gone
I like the way that posters allude to the fact that there are better strikers out there but fail to mention any names. There are plenty of better strikers out there but far more capable recruitment departments than ours are scouring the available market and with far bigger budgets to attract those that are available.

Re: Andre Gray Gone
No, he needs to stay around the first team and learn his job. Time alone will tell if he's good enough. Lots of cameos from the bench is better for him than playing at Gigg Lane.summitclaret wrote:What possible evidence is there that Agyei is ready to step up? I would hope we buy a replacement for Gray, but I'd still keep Agyei at home.

We buy cheap, sell expensive. The Burnley way.
Over the years a "star" being sold has rarely been disastrous.
Onwards and upwards.

Re: Andre Gray Gone
good luck AG, im gutted that hes now gone but lets move on, i just hope we replace our two best players with similar quality, something i very much doubt. A couple of weeks ago i was very optimistic of our chances of staying in the prem, not so now, but lets hope some exciting news hits the headlines soon, we havnt had much to rave about, especially with our mediocre signings. we need a decent cb and striker, but who ?

Well done to Dyche and the Burnley board ,a great piece of salesmanship
Re: Andre Gray Gone
What puzzles m is that, as far as I can recollect, Gray turned down
a substantially improved offer quite a while ago.
But we continued with him and even stated that we didn't need to sell.
We even turned down two offers for him.
And we played him in most of the pre-season games and got him match fit.
That suggests he was still part of our plans.
Something must have happened in the last week or so for us to change our minds, me thinks.
Was it that he had changed agents?
Is it that we have someone in mind/already lined up?
