We have one of Sam's mates though in Charlie Taylor....might be helpful!

Also it seems as though West Brom only want him if they can't get their first choice (Barry).

Why live to a club where you know you're the second choice purchase and you'll have to move home etc too?

Why not move instead to a club near where you currently live and where you already have at least one good friend?

Simple choice isn't it?

Ambivalent about Clucas but when he's fit again I'd love us to get Whatmore from Sunderland.

'supermarket was closed'

from Burnley Express:

'...Burnley had a £5m bid for Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas turned down last week, with Tigers boss Leonid Slutsky saying on Friday that the “supermarket was closed” at the KCOM Stadium. He said: “Maybe he (Clucas) is better waiting one year and he will play in the Premier League with Hull I hope, or he will play in a really big team in England. It’s a serious risk to change for the same type of club.” It emerged on Friday that Burnley had also had an offer for Leeds United striker Chris Woood turned down, at slightly less than the £12m reported. Burnley are expected to return with an improved offer, but Leeds boss Christiansen said he expects Wood to stay at Elland Road: “I haven’t talked to the club, but I imagine they are as ambitious. He is very important.”...'

Just to help out Leonid. There's one crucial difference. Burnley is a Premier League football team with a rich heritage and Hull is a rugby city.

He plays central mainly for Hull. We have no left footed central midfielders. We do need a right footed winger though.

I'll be miffed if Defour goes and we replace with Clucas. Westwood looks more and more a panic buy now.

I agree we're crying out for a right winger!

I can't see Defour going. I think if Clucas came in we may see the end of Arfields time here. If we play a midfield 3 this season we certainly need a couple of back up. Cork, Defour, Westwood, Hendrick, Clucas & Marney would be a solid midfield. Ulvestad can go for me.

I think Westwood would have been a better replacement for Defour on Saturday. We had to change the whole shape when Walters came on with Hendrick dropping much deeper whereas Westwood would have been a more natural fit for the shield in front of the back 4 and may have kept us a bit more composed.

Wouldn't want Clucas, a left footer on right wing of a 5 personally, would be like Brady playing on right, wouldn't be able to go round outside to take on the fullback, is he good with both feet?

It's long been a suspicion of mine, but Hull's comments confirm it really, a lot of the reason some teams won't sell to us is jealousy.

It's a bit different because Clucas has already played in the Premier League and was rumoured to be on Southgate's radar. He probably won't want another season in the Championship.

It's a bit of a strange one this. Clucas could do well for us in CM, but I don't think the area is a top priority. Obviously the club and Sean think differently, which means I'm wrong in that respect.

What is really puzzling is the fact that we are only making a move for him now. After Hull have sold seven of their key players during this window. If we had marked him out as an important target for this transfer window at the outset why didn't we go in for him much earlier, around the time we picked up Cork.

Did we actually sit down and decide that it would be a really good idea to go after him late in the window, because it would result in a lower price and an increased chance of Hull letting him go?

I suspect we might have had a far greater chance of picking him up, and for a much lower price, if we had made a move before the Hull supermarket had emptied its shelves of everything but Clucas.

On the other hand, if he wasn't a key target that we identified before the window what has changed to make us so interested now?

Either we are getting really good at the media game and we are throwing out a finely crafted series of smoke and mirror shapes as part of some grand strategy or we are making up our entire transfer agenda as we bungle our way along.

If we have become the super ninjas of the transfer market then it is definitely working, because at this moment in time I'm not sure if I should be awestruck or very worried.

Can someone superimpose a pic of Sean Dyche's face onto a Ninja's body. I quite like the idea of our boss doing somersaults and stealthily nabbing his targets from under the noses of unsuspecting football clubs.

It appears there are 2 sources that suggest he wants to come, Twitter (sometimes reliable/ish) and a guy from Lincoln at a wedding in shrews who says he wants to come. If the club refuse time for a transfer request? He's not worth much more than 10 mill I don't think.

Offer them Arfield as part of the deal. If it goes through go out and sign another wide player with a bit of pace.

If you are Sam Clucas, and you witness the firesale at Hull, there must be doubts as to how much of a challenge to bounce back Hull can now make,if he feels Hull are unlikely to come back up this may influence his thinking,i wouldn't go any higher then 10 million decent player though he is.
