THEM or Spurs

Post by Hedontplayforyou » Fri Aug 11, 2017 12:16 pm

Simple one word answer, who would you rather us beat....
THEM lot down the road, or Spurs in the next game?

I'll start.

No idea until it happens. Wait until we've beaten them both, and I'll tell you which felt better.

Both would make me happiest
Spurs for 3 points.
We don't need to beat Rovers, it will be like kicking a puppy if we beat them, though the League Cup should be taking seriously this year given our increased squad of senior players who all need game time.

If it's a choice between the two, then them.

Spurs as a Southern based Claret it's always good to beat media darlings .A win against local lower league teams is ok but points are more value in the long run

Certainly one of the most straightforward questions to answer.

Spurs.

Blackburn, Allday. 37 other fixtures to win in the PL and only one game against Blackburn.

Them. Absolutely no doubt.

Why Spurs Over Them just out of interest?
- "Its the Premier League" - Don't care.
- "It means we get more money" - The club do, and it's millionaire players, but you certainly don't.
- "It'll help us stay up" - If we need those 3 points, based on the teams in this league, then we deserve to go down.

Are people really saying spurs?

Won't play Blackburn for a decade, it has to be them. We have another 37 games to get 40 points.

The only answer is them

ONLY!

I'm honestly shocked at how many are saying spurs. Thats a game were not expecting to win anyway an won't really affect out season.
Beating them in what could be our last games for years means far more.
Nothing beats a derby day victory.
If we beat spurs I'd of stopped talking about it a few days later but if we beat them it'll last til we play them again.
Can spot the premier league fans a mile off

It isn't a case of expecting to win a game or not. We've been asked which game we'd rather win. I'd rather have another 3 PL points than beat Rovers in some cup that hardly anybody cares about anymore. An unbeaten record versus Rovers doesn't mean as much if we're relegated to the Championship.

And that last comment about spotting PL fans is just silly. I've supported Burnley since we were struggling under Adrian Heath in Division 2. I've seen us beaten by a far superior Rovers team. But that's all in the past. We're PL, they're League One and I want it to stay that way. PL points come first, in my opinion.

the most refreshing thing about this thread is that the majority are now expressing in footballing terms rather than hankering for life swinging with elongated arms through trees

Spurs, the League is far more important than a Cup game. Simple as that.

What's with this Rovers thing. Surely it's man u who are our main rivals now.
Let's not concern ourselves with them. They are only in it for a giant killing.

For those saying they don't care about the cup, neither do I, but you've got to care about sticking it to our neighbours. As a previous post said, beat spurs - forget about it for a few days, beat THEM - talk about it until the next time it comes around!

To me beating Rovers is now like Wellington invading St Helena to attack Napoleon now.... we've already done Waterloo.

If the difference between relegation and safety is close, then beating spuds is the priority.

We start at the Bridge then play a Pullis side. After Spurs we could be propping up the table but with someone like Man City away in the cup to look forward to. :?

Win at Wembley and we'd be at least midtable with a major scalp in only our 2nd away game.

Rovers would be forgotten about and their fans would act like dicks.

Hopefully win both but given the choice i'd pick a mega sing and a dance in the capital. :D
