Think you have misread article. It says Leeds will recoup 500% of their £3million outlay to Leicester.

500% on what they bought him for perhaps?
I don't know how much they paid for him or what they stand to make from us buying him so just guessing.

If it's Leeds 5 X £3m would be right.

Re: Leicester to get 500% back from Wood transfer
I know TalkSport journalists are thick but just so people understand what I said in my earlier post. My understanding of the article is that it says that Leeds paid Leicester £3mil for Wood. If we now pay Leeds £15mil his cost has increased to 500% of his first transfer fee. 500% of £3mil is £15mil, at no point does the article mention money that Leeds have to pass on to Leicester as part of sell on clause.

How will we line up as a team do you think when Wood signs,I suppose with what he's costing us will mean he starts ...won't it?

It's an interesting one. Can't see a Vokes Wood partnership being ideal to be honest.Steve1956 wrote:How will we line up as a team do you think when Wood signs,I suppose with what he's costing us will mean he starts ...won't it?

I hope he starts at rovers. Point to prove, excitement of first game. Big derby atmosphere, and leading goal scorer from league above last year. Charlie Taylor will start also imo, but of link up and understanding when Charlie starts popping bombs into the box at Darwen End of the ground!!!Steve1956 wrote:How will we line up as a team do you think when Wood signs,I suppose with what he's costing us will mean he starts ...won't it?

Wood will start on the bench. Vokes has scored 7 in 7.

Not sure Steve. 4-5-1 Is looking really tasty so far, we are keeping and using the ball very well. Possibly a plan b like yesterday to go 2 up top.Steve1956 wrote:So you reckon he will play two up top then?
Vokes is our main striker.

Will he be available for the Blackburn game? He was an unused sub for their EFL cup game against Port Vale

Not sure. Didn't realise he was on the bench. I think that will mean he is cuptied if he was on their team sheet but am not positive.applecrossclaret wrote:Will he be available for the Blackburn game? He was an unused sub for their EFL cup game against Port Vale

Not sure why the obsession with showing someone arriving at a medical centre but it's the same place as Jon Walters had his I think.

It doesn't mention an increase of 500% merely that Leeds will get 500% of what they paid for him - which is £15MIf it be your will wrote:An increase of 500% on 3m is 18m. Perhaps we've upped our offer.

Re: Chris Wood's medical
Will be interesting to see where he fits in.
I guess the two main options will be as follows:
1. Wood or Vokes in the promising 4-5-1 formation
2. Wood and Vokes in a 4-4-2
Guess we'll go between the two depending on opposition.

Hmm, I think the opposite. I think they will work very well together if played in a 4-4-2. For some oppositions, it'll be ideal, for others 4-5-1 will work better.RVclaret wrote:It's an interesting one. Can't see a Vokes Wood partnership being ideal to be honest.

Having some fun with Weeds fans on BBC Sport!
Vokes, Barnes, Walters and Wood.
Bit too similar in style for my liking.
Don't think the Florin Andone deal will materialise but he is exactly the type of player we need as an option up front. Let's hope we have another similar forward on our shopping list.

Re: Chris Wood's medical
Will we not play the reserves at Ewood? Therefore I think it's perfect for him to start there. Vokes won't be put out for being on the bench and it's one hell of a game to make his debut for us with Wood wanted to make a name for himself ASAP
Re: Vokes, Barnes, Walters and Wood.
We had a pacey striker last season and he was useless upfront on his own, he didn't fit the way we play like Vokes does. I'm impressed so far, we look a better side, Dyche is buying players to fit the system which Gray didn't, pace isn't essential in a lone forward role when we are controlling the game more, we need a striker to hold it up and make it stick like the 4 do. If we need pace it will be wide right to whip balls in the box for Wood/Vokes.

We don't have reserves.
We have a squad which I'm sure will be utilised at Deadwood.

Re: Vokes, Barnes, Walters and Wood.
If we are going to play percentage football, get crosses in the box and play 451, then it's exactly the strike force you are likely to see. It's the wingers and odd midfielder that chips in with 15-20 goals too.
Last season we played in a way that wasn't suited to our forwards. Now we seem to have picked players suited to the system.
Whether it will work or not is another matter. The football was dire last season, but did the job. If the stuff we are playing ( so far ) this season keeps us up, you won't get too many Burnley fans complaining.
We looked to have evolved a bit, and there is definitely quality on show, with the belief we can pick up points with quality football thrown in.

How many times did we start with a lone striker last season?KRBFC wrote:We had a pacey striker last season and he was useless upfront on his own, he didn't fit the way we play like Vokes does. IMO we needed to improve on Vokes and have the two of them battling it our for the shirt when we play 4-5-1. We then needed an upgrade on Gray in terms of someone with pace but with a bit more quality on the ball leaving those three strikers competing for two places in a 4-4-2.
That would leave us with either Barnes or Waters to be 4th choice and be able to come on and mix it up chasing or hanging on to a game.
Woods I hope is an improvement on Vokes long term but the big gap for me is not replacing Gray and wasting a place in the squad by having two 4th choice strikers in Barnes and Walters.
The window isnt over yet so I hope we sign someone a bit more mobile like a Long or Andone and if we do off load Barnes
Re: Vokes, Barnes, Walters and Wood.
We have played a lone striker in both games this season though so I presume this is Dyches new system and he wont stray from it much.Devils_Advocate wrote:How many times did we start with a lone striker last season?

Yeah the signing of Walters was a waste really, I said so at the time. A strange signing, good player but just doesn't fit anywhere and is taking up a striking spot which could be taken by someone else.
