Why would anyone congratulate Burnley losing at anything, even a nothing game like cricket?

1 - the congratulations are to Lowerhouse Cricket Club who are a Burnley based team and they also advertise on this site. It was brilliant having the two Burnley teams in the semis, just a shame they couldn't avoided each other and both get to the final.

2 - cricket is a fantastic game. You might not like it but many on this board do.

Old Trafford awaits for Little Old Lowerhouse
by Adam Hope | 20 Aug, 2017
To top off an amazing weekend, Lowerhouse have beaten town rivals Burnley in the semi final of the Lancashire Cup. The final will be played at Emerates Old Trafford, on Sunday 3rd September, 12.30pm start versus Ormskirk who beat Ramsbottom today in the other semi.
An amazing performance with the ball and especially in the field restricted Burnley, who lost the toss to 60-8. A classic case of #DigIn especially from Tom Lawson saw them get to 132 in the final over before being bowled out. Joe Halstead, Charlie, Dean and Joe Hawke all took outstanding catches.
Lowerhouse lost Dean Barlow early on but a 108 partnership from Ben and Ocki steadied the ship . Ben got his second half century of the weekend in a classy patient innings, falling on 63.
Renditions from the stand of “You are my Lowerhouse, my only Lowerhouse” sang loud and proud as House got the bragging rights (for a couple of weeks, until we meet in the League)
More details of the final, travel and full arrangements to follow. It will be a day to remember, watching your club play in a world class stadium, competing for the title of best in Lancashire!
Tell your family, friends, work colleague and that bloke who lives next door who you don’t really speak to.
This will definitely be a day for the History Books.
Up The House!

Lowerhouse is my local team, and the boy plays down there. It's a great set up, and just to see the time and effort the people go to, to help the young lads develop is great to see.
I'd never stepped foot into the ground until the start of this season, but feel very much a house fan and part of the club now.

You don't need to even like cricket.

When footy isn't on, there's nothing better than a few cold beers sat in the sun.
Watching some good cricket is a bonus.

Might make the trip over.

I'm sure Dressinggown can help MACCA. I would imagine forum members Hopey and Arise sir charge will be putting up the full travel details on here shortly provided the mods are ok with it.

I can confirm however at this point that the club will definitely be organising travel to and from OT. I think they will be expecting to take around 400 members/supporters perhaps more.

RLC - cheers thank you. Hoping to take the boy, he seems to have taken to cricket, but hasn't got a clue on the rules, positions, lingo etc as he has only been playing 6 months.

Ben took a PE lesson at his school one day, and said get down as he was decent for a first time player.

6 months later he's playing every week and can't get enough of cricket!

Once is enough, they grab you and don't let go. I went to a Lowerhouse v Rishton game a few years ago when tybfc sponsored it. I was grabbed by Stan Heaton and David Wren who were trying to push me into becoming a member. They both knew that my loyalties have always been on the other side of town when it comes to cricket. :D

On the subject of Dave Wren. It's clear that his good work down at Lowerhouse is being continued and I saw the post from arise_sir_charge further up the thread that it was he who got the Lancs League clubs into this competition in the first place.

I did say have a good day - I'm damn sure they will. OT will have never seen anything like it.

Sadly I don't believe in Fakebook, and this site is my only form of unsocial media.

I'll take a look at the website, and pin it to my favourites for ease.

Seems a lot of Lowerhouse fans/members use this site, I am sure I'll start meeting you all 1 by 1 away from here down at the ground. ( if I haven't already )

I'm pleased that the LCB are offering a choice of seating at the better end of the ground along with the free admission. The best view is from the seats below The Point which are steeper than the others. However, if it's a nice day they may be in shadow (nice day - Manchester ?). More importantly, does anyone know if the Pavilion Bar has any real ale on ? I'm expecting £5 a pint ?

£4.40 a real ale at the Test Match.

The only dressinggown I know drinks double vodka kopparbergs though...

You've got the wrong bloke. I only drink double doubles and the Koppabergs are merely a mixer. I make my own special cocktails at home which have a slight twist on your usual bar offerings. Following the 2004 Worsley Cup victory I had a soiree back at my abode. The local off licence was emptied and late on we were running short of beverages. Fortunately, I had a few bottles of decent vodka stowed away for such occasions and, thus, the 'Taste of Summer' was conceived:

Ingredients: A pitcher to share between 2.

1 litre of Vodka.
Ice

I have estimated that to purchase my usual alcohol intake at the cricket from the bar at Old Trafford, using a pint at £4.40 as a rough guide, I will spend in the region of £1200.

I'm a regular attendee at Lowerhouse..can often be found sat in front of the clubhouse with my daughter (when she isnt climbing the trees or messing with her ball) . I have been to the odd away game this season too. Clitheroe twice to see it abandoned twice and Bacup for the T20 when it poured down. I start on nights when they play at OT and usually i would be in bed until the early afternoon to acclimatize myself but no way I am missing this..so up at 9 it is and by the time i go to bed I will have been up just over 21 hours.
