Welcome aboard - half as prolific as last season would be a perfect start.

And apologies for the mis-spelling of his name, although it was just the once in the entire article. :D Has now been corrected.

of all our big money signings, this is the one i've been the least enthusiastic about. not sure what he gives us that we didn't already have and i've never thought he's looked better than average when i've seen him before.

that said, 30 goals last season means he's obviously got something about him, lets hope he can make the step up to our level.

Hope Wood starts on Wednesday, he'll be nailed on to score..

Welcome and good luck Chris.

If he gets 15 half of what he did last season,he will have done his job and kept us in this league mate.

he will, but this isn't the championship.

if he gets 15 we'll be getting big offers for him!

I looked at the goal he scored us again in more detail and it confirmed what i thought at the time, Duff was too weak in the challenge.

Been going on 30 years. But the first season i distinctly remember was 1991 92 .

We won division 4. Leeds were champions of england. Yet we are way ahead of them now and signed their home grown left back and top scorer for a combined 20m.

This is the biggest sign of how far we have come in my time to me.

Delighted.

Good signing if coupled with a pacier Ings type striker (Andone?). Strange one if not. Four very similar strikers right now on the books - very little guile.

This. I remember when people questioned us shelling out £600k on Ade Akinbiyi (a lot for us back then). If Wood proves to be half as popular as Ade we're onto a winner.

Ade was brilliant in that first spell when we came in from Stoke

I don't know, but I'd be surprised if we signed another striker now given we've got Barnes, Vokes, Walters, Wood plus Agyei.

Unless we had plans on shipping Barnes out and sending Agyei out on loan.

Looks as if he has a subtle signature celebration...... does he form the shape of the number 9 with his thumb and forefinger, with the other three fingers in a line, with his left hand?

Come on Chris. Could be an instant Clarets legend if you do the business on Wednesday. Happy to back Dyche on this one, it's hilarious how many of our keyboard warriors seem to find fault with pretty much everything he does. The fee seems about right in today's market but the key for a club our size is wages that's why the Hernandez comparison is laughable. Scott Hogan for example has scored nothing like the goals Wood has, is hardly pulling up trees at Villa and cost £12 million.

Glad you managed to comment that the goal against us was a clear push on Duffy. Funny how little things irritate so much.

I couldn't conceive at the time why it was allowed...but others on here disagreed so maybe not as clear cut as my view!

Like many others, I'm not overly convinced but that's the market we're in and SD has earned the right to be trusted.

Hard to believe how it was given to be honest. I reckon Duffo will give him a kick at the first opportunity. :D

I presume Vokes will repeat last years trick so if Woody gets double figures we should be ok. Welcome aboard lad.

CT, Great title, it's been like an episode of Bottom of here lately. ;)
