Arfield

Post by chocolatestarfish » Sun Aug 27, 2017 6:14 pm

Thought he had a great game today and deserved a mention. He seemed to be all over the place. Held the ball well and broke up play when needed. Thought today was one of his better games

Was class on Wednesday as well. An important and fully deserved member of our first team squad for me.

Very similar to the Rovers game, some excellent surging runs through the middle, that is his strength

Two good games in a week. You can't write off Arf.

I'm glad he's still with us. I thought he was on his way in the summer (and I wouldn't have complained too much) but he has put in 2 good performances this week.

He's a real dynamo when he's on form albeit sometimes frustrating when it doesn't come off for him - but he makes things happen like Brady. If Ash had tried to lay it off back into the 12 yard zone instead of that attempt that you only score if you're Zico then I'd have fancied Scotty to finish it on his right.

One of the senior players now who know all about Dyche and Burnley. Won't start every week but won't ever let us down when he does.

Really good game today.

Definitely his best performance for us as a CM. Having two alongside him seemed to give him more time and space.
Really pleased for him as a few were writing him off and he's one of my faves.

The new formation definitely suits him.

He also seems to have grown as a player since playing regular International football.

I really hope Mr Strachan was watching.

His best position is probably as the advanced midfielder in a 4-5-1. A complete contrast to when he is in a midfield 2. Very good game today.

He didn't. He had him on the wing in every starting 11 I remember seeing, to help track back.

I definitely have, so your memory is wrong. Although last season when we were set up to play 442, i certainly wanted him in the team on the wing more often than not. Big fan of Scott - think he's about our most underrated player and until about now when weve improved our squad technically, ive always thought we play with more composure when he's in the team.

Certainly, there are plenty of players with similar but not greater gifts (hello, Kevin Nolan) who have thrived at this level in that advanced position in a midfield 3. Absolutely thrilled he sounds to have had a good game there today.

Put a great shift in as ever and wasn't without some real quality to add to that.

We needed that steely Arfield performance today and got it. With a bit more pace he would have got near scoring twice

Despite the evolution that's taken place this season it's important we retain elements of what is a trademark Dyche team. Once Boyd left felt it was important he stayed.

We've certainly added a new dimension to our game but there will be times when we'll revert to the tried and trusted and he's probably the player who understands that and can put it into effect better than any other.

Definitely agree that the forward most player in a central three really brings out his best attributes - excellent today.
