Re: Barnes Value?
We would have absolutely no chance of buying a decent replacement for that money, so why would we sell.KRBFC wrote:Value to us is different to the value other clubs will have on him. Id guess others will value him at around £4M but I don't think we'll sell at that price.
Valuations are nuts in football now. I'm probably worth £100.00 and I'm a pensioner!
Re: Barnes Value?
But we wouldn't only have the fee we'd get for Barnes to fund a replacement.boatshed bill wrote:We would have absolutely no chance of buying a decent replacement for that money, so why would we sell.

Re: Barnes Value?
Obviously we have money to spend. I guess the real issue here is more about Barnes himself; perhaps he wants to leave for the chance to play regular first team football. That being the case we could help him on his way by not overpricing him. However, if a club has just come in with an offer, we should try to get as much as possible. my opinion is that we couldn't buy anyone like him for £4m, so why sell cheaply?KRBFC wrote:But we wouldn't only have the fee we'd get for Barnes to fund a replacement.
I think he will be very hard to replace in a like-for-like manner (if we wanted to).
Re: Barnes Value?
If we want to move him on to make room for a replacement we cant afford to price other clubs out of buying him. If clubs are only willing to pay X amount, then his value is X amount. You're only worth what someone is willing to pay, we can value him at £15M if we want, but how do we move him on at that price if no1 is prepared to pay that to take him?boatshed bill wrote:Obviously we have money to spend. Personally, I can't see any reason why Sean would want to move him on.KRBFC wrote:If we want to move him on to make room for a replacement we cant afford to price other clubs out of buying him. £15m but he is invaluable. The question remains wether he is ok with a squad role.

Yeah who knows, my post was based on Dyche being happy to move on Barnes and replace with someone else.boatshed bill wrote:Personally, I can't see any reason why Sean would want to move him on.

"Vokes is our hold-up link attacker and point-man, great with his head and good at developing partnerships"
I first read that as parsnips
That'll be the night shift fatigue kicking in

Re: Barnes Value?
Barnes is over rated in opinion. He has become a bit a cult hero among a lot of Burnley fans, but that doesn't make him a good un. There has to be some pretty poor timid defenders in the Prem if they are worried about playing against him just because he roughs them up a bit or falls down a lot looking for free kicks.
If he is available, I don't think for one second any Prem club would come in for him. £10 million would be amazing, £5 million more realistic.

Jay Rod and Barnes up top would be decent. I'd be gutted if we move him on. Unless he wants off of course.

If this is true the. I hope that we either (1) pull their trousers down and fcuk them over with an obscene price or (2) lead them on until its way too late on Thursday for them to find somebody else.Reecey1987 wrote:http://amp.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/08/29/po ... ys-barnes/
Personally I'd hope it's the second option.....

There are some pretty poor timid defenders in the Prem hence why he has become a cult hero.
Getting rid of Barnes unless we are bringing in a huge upgrade is bonkers
Re: Barnes Value?
Bit of a non starter. His value doesn't matter because he's going nowhere
Re: Barnes Value?
Surely most defenders will find Barnes a lot less worrying than most forwards they come up against in the Prem? They would have to be lot more concerned about pacey or highly technical players who score a lot of goals.Vegas Claret wrote:Yes he has become a cult hero of sort

I just see Barnes as being a Championship level player.

Re: Barnes Value?
He's tough to value, but I very much doubt we'd get anything like 10 million. He's just what we need as a squad player, think it would be daft to sell.

Re: Barnes Value?
Unless he asked to move on it would take some serious money to get him if he was my player. He's a nightmare for defenders. Just imagine trying to prepare for a game against Burnley (especially if we get that quick man we're rumoured to be still trying for). Do you defend balls in the box? Do you practice set pieces? Do you defend counter attacks? or prepare for a wrestling match for scraps around the box?
Love what he offers us.

Re: Barnes Value?
That's yet another article based purely on bookies odds. Odds of 6/1 in this case. Ridiculous odds again.halfmanhalfbiscuit wrote:http://the72.co.uk/90284/wolves-favouri ... s-slashed/

Re: Barnes Value?
I hope Barnes won't go. I can't see Sean Dyche wanting him to leave either as he is a vital member of the squad.
As for him wanting more games, I don't really think that would be a reason for leaving as he play's in most of the games anyway , although most are off the bench. Moving to a new club doesn't guarantee you a starting role.
Then there is the pull of the Premiere league, a much better proposition than the championship.
So the only reason he would leave is a massive pay rise guaranteed for 3 or 4 more years.

a few things knocking about on line that we've turned down 6.5 million from Newcastle

Re: Barnes Value?
Like him for all the same reasons as everyone else. We can milk this and should let him go to the best offer. Obscene money for a very average (but loveable) footballer.
Re: Barnes Value?
I really hope he doesn't leave...!!! But if he's asked to go, then he's easily worth a minimum of £8m in this market....but probably more like £10m. I wouldn't be surprised to see Brighton snap him back up for that price as well....they loved him down there and were gutted when he left....

I llike him a lot but sell AB and bring in Deeney..............anybody fancy that

Re: Barnes Value?
No I wouldn't want him here. Already have 3 physical forwards if Ash leaves so would prefer to see a tricky number 10 type brought in, in the same mould as Danny Ings.FCBurnley wrote:I llike him a lot but sell AB and bring in Deeney..............anybody fancy that

Re: Barnes Value?
He isn't surplus to requirements we still need him so why sell. As to value in this market £12 million plus we couldn't improve the squad for less imho.

I really hope we keep him.
But it's intersting to see how people see his value.

Re: Barnes Value?
If the report of 6.5 million being rejected from Newcastle is true then the club value of Barnes must be 8 to 10 million in today's market
And its true what would we get now for 10 million not a lot

Re: Barnes Value?
If somebody is willing to go to £10 mill great, although who do you get as replacement for that kind of money in the next 36 hours or so?

He is part of the club spirit. Retain.
