Eckersley goes nuts !
Interesting career change from the less-than-impressive ginger one

Not the stereotypical career pathway for a former footballer.

We had these weigh and save shops in the '80's but now people are more packaging conscious it's just a tweak on the same thing.
'We are from Manchester but just thought Totnes was the ideal place'
Too right as well, they mostly wear cardigans, blue leggings and have green hair down that way.
Good luck to them for being visionary.

Re: Eckersley goes nuts !
Not sure you could fit a proper twix into those jars without wasting a load of space.
Maybe we separate dispensers for the caramel, the biscuit and the chocolate?
Only problem with this is that I don't think it would reduce the price.

That's what stood out to me and I actually checked it because I thought he must be older.martin_p wrote:Wow, Eckersley seems a lifetime ago, but he's still only 28!
The thread title of 'Eckersley goes nuts!' reminded me of his performance at Barnsley in the League Cup when we had to take him off before he got sent off.

It'd still be cheaper than a Twix on the Turf though

I thought this would be about a sending off too. Post 13 echoes my thoughts. They know nobody will overpay for nuts and seeds up north. People will pay less even if a bag does comes with it.

He was a pro-footballer for a decade and barely played 100+ games in that time, whilst being paid a small fortune to do so.

We were the ones daft enough to give him the deal - and I still think he was a better full back than the other we brought in that summer, Brian Easton.Lord Beamish wrote:A four year deal at Burnley where he didn't even start a league game? The guy should have worn a mask!

When the Eckersley signing was confirmed I was sat with Dave Thomas with Jimmy Mac at Jimmy's house with regard to the Jimmy Mac scrapbook that was being published. It was in the days of the club texts and I received one to confirm the signing. I looked at Jimmy Mac, saw that we'd signed someone from Man United and wondered how much of an impact he might have compared to the great man. I don't think there's a comparison to be made.

Love this story. It's a wonder of the modern world that a lad who's probably a semi-pro standard footballer can make a fortune playing reserve team football for a bit then sells second hand cornflakes to hipsters. Good on him.

Surely you're kidding. This guy made Sheena look like Maldini. That 45 mins against Barnsley was, by quite some distance, the most inept display I've ever seen from a professional footballer at any level - including any of the dross we watched in the 4th division. You say he could have been sent off - possibly only to save him from further embarrassment. I think in his only other Burnley appearance he was - at Hartlepool!!!ClaretTony wrote:We were the ones daft enough to give him the deal - and I still think he was a better full back than the other we brought in that summer, Brian Easton

Because basis pulses and grains aren't available in regular shops with extremely minimal packaging to help the environment?
You know, something like this:
http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/gro ... e-oats-1kg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/p ... /259458142" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If Eckersley is selling his oats or his grain at 75pence/kilo like Tesco are then fair enough. But until then I'd be laughing myself hoarse at the suckers who pay through the nose for basic commodities on the basis that they are dispensed from a tube and filled into an expensive kilner jar.
I used to be able to buy enough dried lentils at the local mini market to feed myself for a week for about £2.50.
Re: Eckersley goes nuts !
Ram your lentils up your cock hole. One mention of the glorious market, a whiff of a mention of a financial instrument, and you're triggered.

Besides, for a weird bloke who starts threads about cabbages, (probably), I'd have thought this rustic stuff would be right up your street.

Re: Eckersley goes nuts !
The 45 minutes at Barnsley was a million miles better than the 45 minutes we got from a more experienced Easton at Watford a couple of seasons later. Eckersley was awful at Barnsley and we are comparing two dreadful full backs here, but I remain convinced from what I saw of them that he was better than Easton, and by some distance.scouseclaret wrote:Surely you're kidding. He actually had some good games for us although those who used to say he was better than fox made me laugh.
I once went to a rangers game for somet to do when working in scotland. The opposition left back was very impressive that night. Couldnt believe it when i realisef it was easton.

Re: Eckersley goes nuts !
Easton was a better player than Eckersley as stated above. Eckersley was woefully short of the required standard. An appalling signing. Some suckers down south like paying more for things. ( Eckersley clearly knows this) I think it makes them feel better.
