No CB?
No CB?
Looking unlikely as it stands which is hugely disappointing.
We have had a long time on this knowing Keane was leaving.
We had 4 x CB's, now we have 3.
An injury or suspension away from having to depend on Long.
Crazy decision.

Don't worry we have an unproven CB in Taylor.

Its nothing short of negligent. Hopefully we get through until january. Well actually february because we wont do business in early january.
Complete naivety. Especially with the hindsight and money we have.

Don't worry. We can always shift Taylor or Bardsley or Cork or Ash Barnes in there. No worries.

Frightening situation. Thought we would have learnt from the fiasco of failing to bring in midfield cover during our first season in the top flight under Dyche

Pretty happy with our business overall but I see this as a huge risk.
We've got as many keepers as centre backs.

Suicidal.
Re: No CB?
Very odd
Re: No CB?
Give over, hardly going to cost us. Why risk a outlay of 3m for a 4th choice CB, when we can gain interest.
What are the chances of a specialist CB getting injured. It's not Marney or 2013!
Get a grip, why prepare when you can wing it.

Must have a loan lined up.. no chance we would be that suicidal

No chance at all. With all these millions, we wouldn't risk a small outlay of a few million hamper our premier league survival.cockneyclaret wrote:Must have a loan lined up.. no chance we would be that suicidal

If we dont get a CB could we have a bit of happy clapper bingo to cheer us up as they desperately spew all the rubbish to paint the picture everything is rosy and it has been another successful transfer window

Anyone got any idea who is available as a free agent? (just in case of injury)

No thanks, I'm perfectly happy for the miserable gits to stew in their own juices. Joe Gallagher I think - he's at the Sparrow Hawk now waiting for the paperwork to arrive
Re: No CB?
It's very difficult to understand how Dyche doesn't think we need a centre half. Big and unnecessary risk.

Re: No CB?
Can't see what the problem is. I remember bumping into Taffy( Leighton James, for any young uns) and congratulating him on his performances as an emergency centre back in 1987 and he told me it was easy since anyone could play there. If Taffy could manage it I'm sure we'll be fine!

I'm usually very supportive of the board/Dyche/recruitment team or at least try to be positive but this is a ******* joke.

In 1987 he wouldn't have been facing the likes of Arguero,Rashford,Hazard etc.claretbob wrote:Can't see what the problem is. Not sure how youve come to that conclusion. I support Burnley but its not that important to me and I find it entertaining how serious and precious some people are about things on this forum. Re: No CB?
Premier League defenders Bardsley and Ward can both capably play centre back. Ward's deputy, the talented Charlie Taylor, can play there if needs be.RVclaret wrote:Suicidal.
Kevin Long has the manager's faith and is admired by Martin O'Neil. Then we have the first pairing, Ben and Tarks.
We 'd have liked another but these are all Premier League players. Six options is hardly suicidal

Re: No CB?
Are you seriously suggesting that we are ok because we have a lad who hasn't even played in the PL yet and spent his entire career at LB cover at CB in the most unforgiving league in the world? It's just asking for trouble. Let's hope we have no injuries.

Re: No CB?
We played a centre back at left back in 2014. Look how that went and it was at left back. Yet there are a worrying about of people here happy that we do the opposite. It's footballing suicide. I'd understand if we were skint but we arnt so therefore did not need to take the risk.

Last season I though I was seriously underestimating this league if I believed we could get results with Scotty and George Boyd as our creative wide players.KefkaClaret wrote:Think your seriously underestimating this league if you truly believe we can get results with Ward, Bardsley at centre-back.
Then I discovered there are a lot of vastly over-rated players in this league and ours are just as good as most of the others
Re: No CB?
Basically, what we all have to ask ourselves is, who knows more about the Burnley squad - Sean Dyche or ourselves? In my case, it's Sean Dyche; so if he says our centre half resources are fine, I'm willing to believe him. Obviously the rest of you can make your own minds up.

A centre back is a far far far more crucial position in this league than a winger.

Re: No CB?
Admit to being surprised we've not brought a CB in.
But as has been pointed, it's a massive vote of confidence Sean is giving Long.
And guess nobody ought to be surprised with that.
SD is loyal to his players. They know that and it's why, to a man, they jump through the proverbial hoops for him and the cause.
We'll be ok.

I think we all know the answer Steve if it is for more than a week or 2. Maybe Wells is a good signing just in case we go down.
